I went to the bank today and was told that Chase was doing away with rewards and that there may not be q Disney Visa card in the near future. THAT'S ALL I KNOW! I don't know if this will only be the debit card or both. I was told to expect something in the mail this month.

It was previously announced that Chase is discontinuing the Disney Rewards DEBIT card. There's a thread here on this board about it somewhere... I think it was about a month ago.

I sure hope that's not true for the credit card. That would really stink.

That would be news to me too. I'm a member since day 1. I love getting the disney rewards. Hopefully we can cash them in and not lose them. I have $400 right now.

Well, good luck with that. They supposedly sent out the info by mail in early February about the debit card, and I still don't know of anyone who GOT anything...I certainly didn't, and I do open all mail!

The fact that they said there's an upcoming letter, vs the letter from last month, makes me think that maybe this IS the credit...or maybe they just found all the letters they were supposed to mail about the debit card LOL.

And considering that their site still shows nothing about the impending ending of the debit program*, if they do end the credit program I bet it won't be widely announced either...just gotta find out from others who managed to find out. :headache:

*for those of us with the debit card, we'll earn rewards until July, at which time it will be done. if you've paid the fee for the year already, they'll prorate the refund depending on when you paid it.

I just got an application for the Disney Visa with the free $200 GC offer in the mail yesterday.:confused3

Okay, I'm confused. So my reward points that have been growing will disappear at some point? Are we talking about the blue card the reward points go on is what will disappear?

What will be the point of having a Disney Visa?:confused3

Chase offered a debit card for Chase Checking account holders - this is what is going away.

As far as the Disney Visa and attached rewards card- as far as I know, this is not going anywhere.

Chase did away with all their reward DEBIT cards, not just the Disney debit card. I highly doubt they will discontinue the rewards credit card. To begin discontuing their rewards credit cards would make them the only bank with out a program.

Here is the reply I got from Chase about changes to my existing DEBIT reward account.....

I apologize for any inconvenience or confusion this change
may have caused you.

I wonder how many accounts Chase will end up losing because of this. I actually work at a bank, but chose to have our accounts with Chase because of the Disney rewards. I guess we'll stick on until July, and then I'll change everything back to where I work. Oh well, it was nice while it lasted. At least we also have the credit card to use to get those points...it just isn't as easy as the debit card.

If you have a Chase debit card because you want to get points and because it gets deducted right out of your account, consider switching to the credit card (assuming that rewards program remains and it seems like it's not going anywhere). You can pay off your balance every 3 days. I have been doing this for 5 years and have never been charged any interest or fees. You can do this online from the Chase site or thru onlone bill pay if your bank has it. It's just as good as having it taken out of your account with a debit card.

I think it only affects the debit card, as Chase has been pretty upfront with the fact that they are doing-away with all "rewards" debit cards.

Once again, they told everyone else (on the debit card thread) that the mailing went out in February about it.

So this is either a "whoops, there's that stack of letters we didn't mail", or a "let's remind 'em again", or...this is about something else.

CC holders, I wouldn't get too firm on the idea that they were talking about the debit cards, simply because the mailing supposedly already went out about the debit card...so what else is going out that the OP was told about?

Man, I wish we would get that. Our current card has me as the primary, I would totally open another with dh as the primary.

If Chase CC ends it's relationship with Disney then I will be ending my relationship with Chase. We charge everything we possibley can for those reward points. Disney is the only reason I use my Chase card. Without the points, I see no reason to continue to do business with Chase. They would lose me as a customer for sure. They probably would care though since we have not paid $.01 in interest or fees and we've had the card for years.
