Dec. 9th, 2010
I am the kind of person that wants no attention drawn to me, so not knowing what the heck Bill had planned had me a bit nervous. He talked me into wearing my birthday button and we headed off to DHS. I really love all the theming they put into the resorts and parks for Christmas.

We made our way into the park got a fastpass for TSM and just went looking around the park. We decided to eat at the Backlot Express. It wasn’t too cold that day so we found a table outside. The place was packed, there were tour groups everywhere but Bill and I took it in stride, well we did until I saw this:

That is one of their leaders STANDING on a trashcan. I was mad, how rude and unsafe is this? I was standing up to find a Cast Member when one came out of nowhere telling the guy to get down. Then she walked past us, shaking her head. I told her thank you and she smiled.

We wanted to see Muppets 3D, we really like this corny show, so I decided to take some pictures:

After we finished the show we went into the Muppet Store because Bill was looking for a hat he had seen a lot of people wearing in the parks, we were told it was sold out. Then we made our way toward Pixar Place passing by here:

Can you believe I didn’t get a drink??? What was wrong with me that day?

We went into TSM and I can’t help but take more pictures, the theming is fantastic here:

Wow they even had my favorite crayon color:

Our fancy spectacles:

After we laughed ourselves silly shooting things we thought we would try something new to us:

We asked a CM if there was a certain place we needed to be. She let us know the procedures and talked to us for at least 15 minutes, you could tell she really loved her job. I love talking to the CM’s they make our trip.

We went to the appropriate door and were lead inside after a little wait, Bill could see very well, the theater is set up well. We enjoyed our time there, it was the finale and have decided we will be going back.

After this we headed over to the Polynesian Resort to look around and have dinner. I took more pictures, imagine that:

This is Bill’s favorite resort, he is in awe of it. It was time to check in for dinner.

Continued in next post… My birthday night

Cinderella: [singing] A dream is a wish your heart makes when you're fast asleep. In dreams you will lose your heartaches. Whatever you wish for, you keep. Have faith in your dreams, and someday, your rainbow will come smiling through. No matter how your heart is grieving, if you keep on believing, the dream that you wish will come true.

This is Bill’s favorite restaurant on property, it is mandatory that I make a reservation here. I think he would throw a fit if I didn’t get a reservation. I went up and checked in then we sat down and ordered drinks.

120.jpg

The buzzer went off before we got our drinks, we told the hostess that they were coming and she said they would be brought to the table.

Now here is where I tell you how weird I am. When we go to restaurants I have worries. It is so much easier for us to sit side by side when I help him by cutting up food, getting him more to drink etc. Otherwise I am up and down a lot during the meal and it is not relaxing for either one of us. Also, as you can see in the pictures I am very overweight and my hips don’t like a lot of chairs with arms, so I am always scanning the restaurant to see if the table will have chairs with arms or not. So as we were following the hostess, I am scanning the restaurant and see her going toward a two topper table, I was thinking “no, no, no, please don’t put us here” but she kept walking.

At first all I saw were people at their tables around us stopping eating and looking at us, then I saw the chairs had arms and knew I was going to have to ask for a change, then I saw these (This is a recreation of how this was presented because it took me some time to get out of the fog of surprise I was in and I didn’t even have the camera out before the server whisked the flowers away so we could eat):

I swear for a minute I couldn’t hear, then all I could hear was people from the tables ooohhing and ahhhing and women saying “he did this for her, why can’t you do stuff like that” and other similar things. Bill was smiling at me. I kept telling myself don’t cry, just don’t cry, because I knew once I started I wouldn’t be able to stop. I thanked him over and over again. He got hugs and kisses.

A blurry picture of Bill:

After they took the flowers, I sat here still in shock and finally asked “How?” He smiled that famous smile of his and told me a little story that involved him, Toni, the Poly manager, the Disney Florist, Terry, and Chad. Toni and Terry delivered the jewelry personally to the Polynesian on their departure day. Bill had thought this all up and Toni contacted the Poly manager and made it happen. We had our own fairy, Tonibelle. I took a picture of the earrings and necklace on my phone and sent it to Toni thanking her and Terry, they said “I don’t know what you are talking about”. I told them I knew all about it, they still feigned ignorance.

How were we lucky enough to meet these people? I am in awe of how much help they gave before we got to WDW, then how much time was taken out of their vacation to pull this off. I am so blessed.

The food came out and was fantastic, the entertainer came over many times singing right in front of us:

125.jpg

In the middle of dinner the lights went down and we had a fantastic view of Holiday Wishes. It was beautiful as always. A couple tears did come out then, I was so overwhelmed with all of this. No one has ever done anything like this for me, I felt so unworthy. I am so lucky to have someone as precious as Bill in my life.

The lights came up and many CM’s came to our table to sing Happy Birthday to me, so embarrassing but I smiled and thanked them. A gentleman CM put a cupcake in front of me and lit the candle and asked me to make a wish. It was hard to come up with one because all my dreams had come true. He then said “at Walt Disney World you get more than one wish” and lit the candle again. He did this 5 more times, I was so afraid he was going to burn his fingers as the match was getting shorter and shorter. He was so sweet.

All too soon it was time to go and they brought out a box for me with the flowers in it:

Here is a close up of the jewelry:

We got back to Pop and I couldn’t stop taking pictures of the flowers, I was so amazed by them, I have my own glass slipper!

The pearl Mickey’s are pearl pins. I just looked at it for the longest time and the tears came and lasted for a while that night.

It was magical being in WDW with the one I love, getting a fantastic surprise like that, seeing spectacular fireworks, meeting amazing CM’s, and knowing you have met friends that are truly wonderful. The only thing that could have made that night better would have been having Toni and Terry with us. Bill and I were really missing them.

Next installment… Magic & Merriment check in
