TOMS Shoes

DD informed me today that she would like a pair of TOMS shoes. Well... I have never heard of these shoes, so I do the google thing. It looks like you can only purchase them online. Does anyone know anything about these shoes? Where can I find them that will be the least expensive? Are there coupons, codes, etc...?

You all are always the most knowledgeable when it comes to things like this, so I figured I would start here.

Thanks in advance.

Looks like they are offered in certain retail stores as well.... can look up in your area to see if any are around you.

Also, not sure how old your dd is, but if she just started asking for them today, I might give it a few days.. see if she still wants them... $40 for a pair of canvas shoes is a bit steep. Not saying you shouldn't get them if she really wants them, but might have been something she just mentioned quickly and forgotten, :)

I actually found a super cute pair of Tom's at Nordstrom a while ago and put them on my Christmas list before I knew they were "trendy".. and now they're trendy I guess. But I still love them!

They aren't cheap, but they are comfortable and I've been wearing mine just about every day since Christmas and they still look brand new. Plus, their whole thing is if you buy a pair of shoes, they will gift a pair of shoes to a child in need.

I don't know if you'll find them any cheaper than the $48 for the regular colors on their website.. but if your DD wears children's size shoes, it will be less expensive. I'd just order them directly from Tom's or Nodstrom.. Nordstrom has a very easy return policy (I recently returned jeans that I forgot I had and sat in my closet for a year.. and they gave me a full $120 refund!).. and if you order directly from Tom's, I'm sure they're great with customer service as well.

I know I have seen these at Nordstrom. They do have standard pricing and I suspect discounts are hard to come by due to the charitable nature of the line--for every pair purchased, Toms donates a pair.

Thanks everyone. I like the idea of the charitable donation. DD is 18 and I don't know where she saw the shoes, but I guess I will try to find her a pair.

I do see they have a local retailer in our area. We may just have to make a trip there to look.

My nephew is 17 and he and his friends are really into Tom's shoes as well. I have seen them in stores and they seem uncomfortable to me and not worth the price, but I think most people buy them because of the donation involved in buying a pair.

Hanson (the mmmBop Hansons) have been behind TOMS shoes and promoting them at their shows. At least that's the only place I've ever heard of them (yes, I'm a Hanson fan and have been for 14 years :worship:) lol...

Toms are very popular amongst teens, we know many in the preteen-college age that have multiple pairs.

Can you tell me how they run in sizing? DD18 asked for these for Christmas and we finally got to Nordstrom's last week. She tried on a 7.5 which is her size, but they were a bit snug. The sales guy said they would stretch, but I'm wondering just how much...has your's stretched any and did you buy your regular size?

I was going to ask this very question!

My daughter asked for a specific pair of Tom's for her birthday, and I started to order them . . . but by the time I pay shipping, it'd have been $65. I didn't order them. I just can't shell out that much for a pair of canvas shoes. If I could find them for $40 (total) I'd buy them, but I just can't go more than that.

And while the shoe donation thing is nice, it's not necessarily the specific thing to which I'd choose to donate my money. I like other charities better.

I have had a pair of Toms shoes for a couple of years and love them. Bought them online.

My DD tried on a pair at a store in the local mall. The canvas ripped while she was putting them on, and she didin't force the shoe on either. We were quite surprised.

My oldest DD got a pair last summer before school started. They are silve sequins and the ugliest things I have ever seen. I told her that a few times then just bit my tounge. My youngest DD wants a pair of black ones which are on my list since they aren't as gawdy.

DH's boss bought a pair but gave them away. He said they were the most uncomfortable shoes he's ever owned.

I was also wondering about the sizing. DD has really wide feet. She usually wears an 8, but a larger size if the shoes run really narrow.

Althought, the pair that she is talking about "with elephants" is a bit more expensive than I would normally spend for canvas shoes, I am thinking about surprising her with them.

I got my TOMS at a local shoe store that I had a gift card for. Lots of people here have these shoes. I was told to order a half size smaller than your normal size, as they stretch and you don't wear socks with them (at least no one I know wears socks). I normally wear an 8 and got a 7 1/2 in the TOMS. I believe mine are the slate color. Good luck!

From my experience, I think they run small. My daughter got a pair for her birthday that she wasn't able to wear. She wears a 7.5 or 8 so she got and 8 and they we SO tight, she tried to wear them for only one day and they hurt her feet too bad. I contacted their customer support and they wouldn't do anything because she had already worn them. She tried wearing them around the house so they could "stretch" but they never did.

This is what all the girls in my daughter's school wear. They are very comfortable. Our "Shoe Station" just started selling them before Christmas for $44. Shoe Station always offers a 20 percent off coupon in the local paper but TOMS are exluded. Still a good price compared to the online price.

All the kids are into Toms especially it seems the older teens. I am wanting a pair of the wedge heel with open toe in red, of course though , It isn't a shoe that I think the teens will like lol.

Try putting them in the freezer with gallon bags filled with water filling the shoes. The ice will stretch the shoe as it freezes. I've used it with heels and flats before -- it can't hurt to try!!
