Disney is full of big extravagant, colorful grand happenings.
I know we can all probably list off a hand full of rides,
parades or events at WDW we're all fond of but
lets "go off the beaten path" and tell our favorite -
little moments.
:cloud9:
Things you just found special -
that maybe caught you off guard,
lifted your spirit - made you smile-
or that touched your heart in some way.

I guess I should go first-

Well let me start with -
I did not have such a great childhood growing up - I know no one has a perfect one -
but lets just say mine had a high quantum of drama and turmoil not of my own doing.
No pity-party required - thank you.

So I'm fascinated with seeing parents -
in tender moments with their children.
I have to catch myself from not staring at a pool or on a walk way.
Don't wanna be that creepy stranger.
I've noticed these moments do tend to happen
more out of the parks.

Any way that's one of mine. :)

I have to say that just being able to BE at Disney thrills me down to my soul. My little girls self awakens with giddiness every time.

Top that with being able to be there with friends....well, I had to pinch myself several times.

But I guess my all time favorite time was watching the fireworks one evening and sitting by a little girl of about 3; she cried out in such glee "BRAVO" every time there was a new burst of color. Her delight matched my own.

I love seeing happy children, awed children, wonderment.

I love that there is a place on this earth that makes me as happy and carefree as a child. Something I didn't actually get to experience in my youth.

moment 2 for me-
Having drinks at WDW -
and having a friend I did not expect to see show up to surprise me -
I was so touched and taken back by this.

My little moment is when my 9 year old son who is not very affectionate, gave me an impromptu hug and thanked me for taking them to WDW.

My other son, 6, and I cried together when we left WDW on the last day because we were both sad that we didn't want to leave. I promied him we would come back soon!

For us it has to be the "welcome Home" we received from the fantastic greeter at OKW when we arrived on our disneymoon.

It really made us feel we had come somewhere special!

I got a little misty too.

I had kind of lost track of a good friend. A couple of years ago, we reconnected and had dinner. At that time we started making plans to go to WDW together.

The first park we went to was DHS. When we got to TSM, the wait was posted as being 120 minutes. We stood in line talking and catching up on 25 years. I have no idea if the line took 120 minutes or 5 hours; it was such a wonderful time.

Counting monorails with my 4 year old niece and nephew while waiting for the boat to the Grand Floridian.

I was aware that we shouldn't have been able to count quite so many monorails while waiting, but, they weren't and they were quite well entertained. They came up with many different names for each colour just so that they could claim there were more monorails traveling the tracks. (They managed to come up with more currently on the track than actually existed.)

Walking through fantasyland a couple of years ago, I tripped over my own feet and did a lovely tumble. I stayed seated on the ground for a minute, to access the damage to my old self. A little girl came out of nowhere, and told me not to cry and offered me her balloon. I was fine, just being slow to get up; but her offer of her balloon almost made me cry. :flower3:

Having Mike at the Main St. barber shop laugh with a young relative who said, "Well that wasn't as bad as going to the doctor" at the end of his hair cut.

My husband loves Mike. He is awesome.

I have so many but 2 stand out

my dd, 7 yo at the time and she jumped up to hug Mickey at Garden Grill. and just the pure look of love in that hug, its the sweetest picture.
and last year my 6 yo ds at the parade at HS.......waving and dancing, just so sweet......the look of pure joy on their faces.

New Years 1999-2000, the whole family was in Epcot we watched the new millennium year ring in. It was the best illuminations show, just after midnight we all headed for test track, there was no line and we all got to be the first people to ride test track in 2000. The high speed loop was even more thrilling at midnight on new years day.

Guys these are ALL so great!
Love them!
I'm sure more of us have them!

Step right up - show us your soft underbelly!

Ok...here's two more:

First, I am acutely aware that I am getting older. No longer my adorable younger self getting the wolf whistles I once did-;)

At any rate, I try to always acknowledge older women because I know that the elderly can be invisible. On one trip to Disney there was a beautifully dressed older woman with a young family. I tapped her shoulder and said I just wanted to say how lovely she looked....well...tears welled in her eyes and she asked if she could give me a hug. She then proceeded to tell me how her husband had very recently passed away and that she almost didn't come on this trip with their son and his family because it was something they used to do together. Then she said: Every morning he would tell me how lovely I looked! I have to believe that this (meaning my telling her) was his way of reassuring me that he's still here and I am not alone.

Of course we were all crying by then.

I just felt this encounter was somehow facilitated by being in a place where talking to strangers doesn't seem odd. I love how it is enjoyed by the old and the young. Magical indeed!

The second is very run of the mill: My daughter Tara is my favorite Disney partner. She is in her early twenties and the fun we have at Disney is unmatched. Pee in your pants laughing. I am so grateful for the chance to step outside real life and do this with her. She was always a good kid, and now a really good person. When I'm with her at Disney I am made keenly (and joyously) aware that I have broken the cycle of abuse....again...MAGIC

I had one of the greatest experiences at WDW during our last visit. We were getting ready to get on the boat to MK for EMH. My youngest daughter said that her tummy hurt so she and my DH returned to Wilderness Lodge.

My older daughter and I decided to go to MK alone. Having that wonderful kid all to myself in the Magic Kingdom was the singular most wonderful WDW moment ever. She is 11 so she is a tween, but that night she was my little girl again. We held hands and explored the MK at night. We felt like we were on an adventure. I just followed her around and let her do whatever she wanted. She giggled and laughed and enjoyed being there. We went to the Laugh Floor and she was just cracking up at all the jokes. We had the photo pass people take our picture at the castle, we went purse shopping, we rode rides and we laughed. When we went back to the Lodge she held my hand and told me it was the greatest night of her life. She told me that she wants to leave a legacy like Walt Disney so more people can have experiences like we had that night. I will never forget my daughter's face that night, or the feelings we shared just loving each other and loving WDW!

On the boat ride back to the lodge she said she knows that she will be able to do great things like Walt Disney because she has a family who loves her.

This was actually dh's experience and he was the only witness.

We had just finished a princess breakfast at Akershus and dh went use the men's room before we went back into the park. Several feet in front of him was Snow White and there wasn't another soul in the hallway with them. She was skipping and humming and swinging her skirt. He watched as she skipped towards a door and right before she went through it she twirled and giggled and flounced away. She never saw him.

To this day (this was 6 years ago) he lists this as one of his most magical disney memories - he was so amazed and appreciative that Snow White WAS Snow White, even if "no one" was watching!
