For those of you guys traveling as a family of four that requires a roll in shower room...

Hotel question - NOT Disney

Do you guys all have to pay for two rooms when a hotel only has a room with one bed and a roll in shower?

Am I the only one that thinks it is not fair that we have to pay double simply because a hotel does not have a room with two beds and a roll in shower. When every other group that doesn't have a wheelchair/roll in shower need gets to pay for only one?

Am I over-reacting?

All hotels in our area are either new enough that they have two beds in each roll in shower room OR they provide a room for a deep discount that serves as the room with the 2nd bed - enough to accommodate all four of us?

If they have a room that fit 4 people, then they must have rooms with accommodations that can take the same number for the same price (sometimes they may all be used), so if they choose not to have rooms that work for this and use adjoining rooms instead then they cannot charge extra.
Just basic equal accommodation.

that is what I thought...

This is the letter I got back from the hotel...this is the actual text from the letter. Supposedly from the manager of the hotel? And it was CC'd to the administration of the hotel - the corporate headquarters.

"I'm concerned about the problem you experience. Only room with roll in shower has only one king bed, it occupancy two people. You want room for four people. I cannot accommodate four people in roller away king shower room. You want complimentary second room, I offer 10% discount on both room. I cannot accommodate your request."

I just wanted to make sure I was not crazy.

Where do I find a copy of the law? I made my case in an email back to the manager and corporate, but I didn't have any legal backing - just common sense.
