Sorry, I can't give you any feedback on the taste because I didn't partake of the buffet...I went and had this...

20110130_2071.jpg

But I will say that other than the aft elevator location, Cabana's is a HUGE improvement over Topsiders/BBB. There was tons of selection, lots of tables, loved that you didn't have to wait in one huge line!!! I read on someone else's trip report that they didn't like that they seated you but you don't HAVE to be seated. They do offer "Can we find a table for you" but I always said no and then just grabbed my food (breakfast only) and then picked a table I want :thumbsup2

Next up....Breakfast at Cabana's :thumbsup2

Oh dear lordy! - just put 7lb on just looking at the photos:lmao::scared1:

Is it really sad that I got over excited over the blue cheese crumbles:confused3:rotfl2:

It looks a vast improvement on topsiders:thumbsup2

Cass, these pics are going to push me into blowing my diet! :headache:

Cabanas Breakfast Buffet Part 1

I was able to enjoy two meals here while on board and I just LOVED it!! I got up very early every morning to take sunrise pics so I was able to get to Cabana's as soon as they opened.

Both times I took my breakfast outside and watched the gorgeous horizon while I ate in peace and quiet. I must say it was one of my favourite times on the ship. :cloud9:

For those of you who don't follow my blog or know me on a more personal level... I have Lupus (SLE) and this past May, I came down with Lupus Pneumonia, was hospitalized and on Mother's Day, my husband was told that I was more than likely going to die. By some miracle, I survived that horrible ordeal and it has changed my life in many different ways.

Not being able to breathe and having to fight for a breath of air has really made me appreciate my lungs and how they work to keep me alive. I don't take a single day or breath, for granted any more.

I can't even begin to tell you how wonderful it was to be sitting there, on that glorious new ship, eating a delicious breakfast that I didn't have to cook, breathing in the ocean air.

I am so lucky I got to do this trip and even though everything didn't run smoothly, I soaked it all in! Even though I got tired, I tried to take advantage of every moment that I had on board...taking tons of photos, videos, watching sunrises and sunsets, enjoying the entertainment and just trying to notice all the small details...it's what Disney is best at, after all.

So before I post the food porn....I just wanted to share with you that one little moment of peace and serenity...

Cass, just 'Wow', what a story :flower3:. Sure puts a different outlook on life when you overcome such a serious illness. I've 'virtual travelled' with you on many trips and usually don't post but just wanted to send you a hug .

I really enjoy the breakfast there, the food was really good, way better than Topsiders! They also had more selection than Topsiders too! ::yes::

The doors to get to the outside part though are very heavy and hard to open especially if you are carrying a plate and drink! I love that you don't need to carry around a whole tray and that the silverware and napkins are already on the tables :thumbsup2:cool1:

Next up....Lunch at Cabana's ;)

nope...not done with Cabana's yet lol

These food pictures are amazing. I need to eat about 12 times a day to eat all I want. LOL!
Do you know, was Enchanted Gardens Welcome Aboard buffet, pretty much the same food?

Dear Cass, your trip report is amazing. I was becoming concerned about going. I am easy going but my DH - not so much. You are making me excited once more. I look forward to reading your review of the kid's club. My 4 year old is extremely excited.

Wow, is there anything you didn't take a picture of? j/k :goodvibes

Great pictures, keep em coming....

Love the view from your railside table. With a view like that, I wouldn't care what they had to eat.

For those of you who don't follow my blog or know me on a more personal level... Sending you a  from down south

Cabana's Lunch At Sea Day

While I didn't eat there...I did take photos! It looked really good though and I was shocked at the variety!

Michelle did have it and I think she said it was good...maybe she can chime in here.

Yummy.. the food at Cabana looks great. I see you got a chocolate crossisant (spelling???)... I bet your hubby was jealous. LOL...

In my house right now, the big debate is where to go for Spring Break 2012. The current argument is a Disney cruise versus a trip to Europe and OH MAN am I slowly being converted to the cruise! GREAT report, I love how you tell everything from your perspective and highlight that it's just that: YOUR perspective! This is a wonderful report, thank you for sharing!

Absolutely AMAZING! Cass! I've always loved your trip reports, but this takes the cake! :goodvibes

Thanks for sharing your adventures. :thumbsup2

That's exactly what we are doing, with a day with Harry Potter, and a couple of days Food and Wining and MNSSHP thrown in there. It's GradTripPalooza for Sarah....gotta love those DVC points.

I can't wait for the Fantasy either! We plan on rebooking onboard, and hoping to renew our vows in St Thomas in 2013 ro 2014 depending on when I finish school. Of course we may end up in Grand Cayman depending on the week.

Sounds like a fabulous trip Becky!! :thumbsup2

Love the updates Cass!:cloud9:
We're excited to book the Fantasy but really looking forward to our one last fling on the Magic this fall!:grouphug: Made lots of lifelong friends on that ship!

Yup, I know what you mean

just an FYI in anyone is interested. MyCokeRewards has this book available for 500 coke rewards points if anyone saves them
We just got the book and its great . "Welcome Aboard" "Creation of the Disney Dream" about 90 pages.
I doubt they'll have them in stock very long so hurry!

dreambook.jpg

Cool! Saw that book in the shops, what a great deal! :goodvibes

Thank you for all the photos!
You've shown everything in such detail.
Never would have thought to get down on the floor for those "under the bed" pics. But as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.
Am continuing on with your excellent TR now.....

Editing this to say I don't know how this post got HERE! I was reading your State Room report & after I posted this I was on the food section!! Oh well - I just wanted to thank you for putting such time and effort into this.

Thanks :goodvibes Your post ended up there because that was the current end of the report :thumbsup2

Thanks so much for taking the time to post this excellent TR and all of the amazing details!!! It's almost like I was there with you!!!(sigh...almost!)

By the time I finish...and you watch my video (eventually) it will be JUST like being there :rotfl2:

Oh dear lordy! - just put 7lb on just looking at the photos!

:lmao:

I thought I would have gained weight but I walked the length of the ship probably 100+ times...and you sure can tell she's bigger than the others!! I ended up losing half a pound :rotfl:

Best way to describe that update - *drool*

I know! I'm hungry now too!!!

Cass, these pics are going to push me into blowing my diet! :headache:

Put that bag of chips down....go grab some celery or something ;) :rotfl2:

Cass, just 'Wow', what a story :flower3:. Sure puts a different outlook on life when you overcome such a serious illness. I've 'virtual travelled' with you on many trips and usually don't post but just wanted to send you a hug .

Awww thanks  How sweet!!!

These food pictures are amazing. I need to eat about 12 times a day to eat all I want. LOL!
Do you know, was Enchanted Gardens Welcome Aboard buffet, pretty much the same food?

I didn't get down there but I have read that there is no "kid" food so I don't think they have as much variety.

Dear Cass, your trip report is amazing. I was becoming concerned about going. I am easy going but my DH - not so much. You are making me excited once more. I look forward to reading your review of the kid's club. My 4 year old is extremely excited.

The clubs looked sooooooo cool!! I can't tell you how many times I wished Kira (my 4-year old girl) was on board with me!! She would have LOVED LOVED LOVED them! We would probably have to drag her out every night :lmao:

Wow, is there anything you didn't take a picture of? j/k :goodvibes

I could stop now if you like......

Actually....YES, there is!! The entrance to Royal Palace!!

Yummy.. the food at Cabana looks great. I see you got a chocolate crossisant (spelling???)... I bet your hubby was jealous. LOL...

YES!! And they were delicious!! They have changed them...made them smaller but they are still delicioso!!! :goodvibes Rob hasn't seen that pic yet shhhhhh

CRUISE CRUISE CRUISE!!! :cheer2:

Sorry....apparently these photos were taken by a a tall drunk person LOL!

Too funny!! :lmao:

We had a regular table in the back left corner in every restaurant. Michelle ordered the meatloaf from the kids menu that night :thumbsup2

I love me my kids meals! :)

Soooo glad you had nice table mates & neighbors!! ;)
Love your report so far......I'm laughing all over again!! :rotfl:

Hi Deb!! :rotfl:

No formal night on the Dream (unless they do one on the 5 day cruises :confused3), but for sure on the Fantasy!

We noticed at the end that there was no formal night. LOL

Cass- Love the pics and the TR! You explained everything perfectly!

We didn't have a formal night, but they might have one on the 5-day :thumbsup2

We're doing a 7 day on the Fantasy next year. Our first cruise was a 3 day Wonder back in '04. We swore we'd never do anything smaller than a 7 day after that. Did a 7 Day EC in '06 and then the 15 day EB Repo in '08.

Wow

Thank you so much for taking the time to put up all these great pics.

While some people are complaining about the smallest things that went wrong you have provided so much for our family to look forward to.

Food looks great and so many choices!

I like that fact that you went out early and the place was empty and you could sit anywhere.

Like anywhere else if you go to eat when the rest of the world arrives then there will be lines and shortage of seats.

Thank you again!

Wow Cass, I didn't realize you had gone through such an ordeal in May. I'm so glad that you came through that and that Rob and Kira have you safe and sound~! Yikes! How terribly scarey!

We never ate at the buffet on the Magic or Wonder. The kids preferred to grab chicken strips or pizza at lunch and since they were all teenagers, breakfast was normally slept through. I can't wait to see your pirate buffet pictures... that last cruise (KKers) we had several seasick people in our party... those were some high seas that night.
