Day 7 - Part 4

By this time we felt like we’d pretty thoroughly explored Innoventions and were ready to move on. So, it was time to use our fastpasses for Test Track.

Marlene matches-up pretty well with the “13-year-old girl”. Maybe that’s because she was thirteen?

IMG_3711.jpg

James! What're you lookin' at?

Even though she’s sixteen, Lauren’s head isn’t nearly as big as this apparently-conceited “16-year-old boy”.

IMG_3713.jpg

While we were on the ride, I tried to get a picture of the semi-truck that pulls out in front of you. Yeah, it didn’t turn out so well. Oh, this reminds me of a joke (answer after the picture): "What's the last thing to go through a bug's mind when it hits the windshield?"

IMG_3715.jpg

Answer: "its butt" :headache:

Soon we were out and zipping around the track.

IMG_3718.jpg

IMG_3719.jpg

Whoo! That’s fast.

IMG_3720.jpg

This reminds me, I need to do some banking later today.

IMG_3721.jpg

I’m not sure if Marlene could even see anything.

IMG_3722.jpg

We exited the ride and picked up the Photopass card for our ride photo. It was pretty good, but do you see anyone who doesn’t look to be their most chipper?

Photo0788.jpg

We walked into the automobile showroom and Judy said, “We need to take a break for a little bit. Lauren’s not feeling very well.” I guess the pace, the exhaustion, the heat, had all caught up with her. We sat down against the wall just before you exit the auto displays, out of the flow of pedestrian traffic.

We’d packed some sandwiches, carrot sticks, and chex mix and decided to discretely take them out right there and eat a little while we all caught our breath. Lauren didn’t eat, of course, but the rest of us did. James waved his sandwich dramatically, sweeping his arm toward the showroom and asked, “Can we eat in here?” I pushed his arms back toward his chest and said, “Yes, as long as you can be a little more nonchalant! Sheesh!”
Dumb.gif

Our plan for the rest of the day was to tour the World Showcase. Marlene wanted to stick with the plan because she had a purchase in France she wanted to make. After resting for a little while, Lauren still wasn’t ready to go anywhere just yet, so Judy decided that she and Lauren would continue to sit there for a little while longer and the rest of us would start touring the World Showcase. While they sat, they would try to decide whether to go back to the resort or to catch up to the rest of us in the World Showcase.

The prospect of heading back to the resort caused James to start begging
1sm134plead.gif
that he wanted to stay with Judy and Lauren. He’d much rather go to Kidani’s Community Hall than the World Showcase. But Lauren didn’t want her little brother hanging around while she didn’t feel good, and plus I figured that the World Showcase would be a good learning opportunity for him, so I made him come with Marlene and me.

So, Marlene and James and I started our trek. We walked over to Canada and looked at the merchandise. This next picture was on Marlene’s camera and was one of the photos I recently found.

101_1326.jpg

Here, she’s doing her best Davy Crockett impression, although I don't think she's ever seen the Disney movies from the '50's.

IMG_3725.jpg

We started to continue on and had to get a picture at this often-photographed World Showcase landmark.

IMG_3726.jpg

Just then, I got a phone call from Judy. She and Lauren were going to go back to the resort, but I had their park passes in my wallet and they wanted them just in case they decided to come back later. So…we had to hoof it back to Future World to meet them. James immediately proclaimed that he wanted to go with them. He’d rather spend the afternoon at Community Hall than tour the borrrring World Showcase with Marlene and me. I relented and let him go. There’s probably nothing worse than dragging a kid through the World Showcase who doesn’t want to be there.

:( Poor Lauren! I hope she felt better soon. that's such a tough call, you don't want to drag around a BORED kid (they are SUCH buzz kill lol) but then again, if one is sick, it's nice to let the other parent deal with just the sicko solo.

Jeff informed me last night that the revenues from Davey Crockett paid for Disneyland. Now I can't find anything that actually substantiates that story but we did have fun chatting about Davey Crockett and signing the song (and kids looking at us like we were nuts).

:rotfl:

You're like Fonzie and the jukebox. :rotfl2:
:rotfl2::rotfl2:

:faint:

Yes, I live...barely!
We spent Christmas in Utah and stayed to see my new niece be born....but the cost of that was I caught the flu from my little nephew and have been sick since.

I think I'm finaly on the mend. Hallelujah! D.Jay decided yesterday that we are taking a trip to disneyland next month which has boosted my spirits a bit.
:yay::yay::yay: Great to have you back!!!! :yay: for DL

Yes, Pat is a genius...I'd gone into edit-mode on my signature a couple of times, but never hit enter because it looked fine.

Awwww shucks guys. Glenn, I will admit I did look at mine and realized it was fine as well and wondered if you saved it too. I thought I had nothing to lose. :confused3

Clearly! :sad2: We also braved blizzard-like conditions in heroic fashion in order to bring vital supplies home to our families. :cool2:

Just like Balto.:) Hope you did not have diptheria.:upsidedow

Holy cow! I'm posting this close to an update! But Pat still beat me. :rotfl:

Going back to read now - love the Test Track and hat pics!!!!

Lauren’s not feeling very well.” I guess the pace, the exhaustion, the heat, had all caught up with her.
Poor Lauren :sad1: If there's something I hate is not feeling well during a vacation... HEY! It's MY time!

James waved his sandwich dramatically, sweeping his arm toward the showroom and asked, “Can we eat in here?” I pushed his arms back toward his chest and said, “Yes, as long as you can be a little more nonchalant! Sheesh!”
:rotfl: That was hilarious! And even more funny because I'm always having trouble staying quiet and inconspicuous in situations like that... let's say James had his Tribilín moment :rotfl:

The prospect of heading back to the resort caused James to start begging
1sm134plead.gif
that he wanted to stay with Judy and Lauren. He’d much rather go to Kidani’s Community Hall than the World Showcase.
:scared1: OMG! I can't believe what I'm reding! Oh well... hope he had a great time at Kidani's.

James! What're you lookin' at?

:rotfl:

"What's the last thing to go through a bug's mind when it hits the windshield?"

Answer: "its butt" :headache:

Grrrrrrrrrrrroan.

This reminds me, I need to do some banking later today.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRROAN!!!! :rotfl2:

You were full of 'em tonight! They all made me laugh and smile though. :goodvibes Sorry to hear Lauren wasn't feeling well, I hope she gets over it quickly. It's never fun to be sick in Disney World!

I think this is the fastest I've seen one of your recent updates in quite a while, and yet..... still not quick enough to take a stab at finding Judys. :headache: Besides, Pat covered ALL her bases in case you expand the game options.

I had a sick kid just before getting on TT once, and sat on those very same benches. Although convenient, I wish they weren't used quite as much for that purpose.

Ahhh, James- learning discretion is a toughy. He'll get it, if it involves food- since he's a guy. And he is. So, no worries.

I'm with Cynthia. Tough call. Dragging kiddos who DON'T want to be in
WS is a massive bummer, and yet, with Lauren not feeling well, Judy would have probably rather done it alone. Watching James continue his winning streak at Foosball AND helping Lauren would have been hard. By the way, was this the beginning of the string of sicky on your way home?? (It was on your way home, right?)

I don't want to get ahead of the story too much, but it wasn't anything that some rest couldn't take care of. And Judy would only have to deal with James for the ride back to the resort...after that, he was off to Community Hall.

Jeff informed me last night that the revenues from Davey Crockett paid for Disneyland. Now I can't find anything that actually substantiates that story but we did have fun chatting about Davey Crockett and signing the song (and kids looking at us like we were nuts).

I believe it. It was the right time, and while I don't know how it did financially, it was definitely huge in pop culture so I'd assume it brought in some bucks.

I'm First I hope

3 Judys
11 Marlenes
8 Laurens
7 James
1 Glenn

A bridesmaid no longer, you've won this rounds points! :cheer2:

And you outdid yourself with all of the other counts, but I suppose you're just covering all the bases in anticipation of the inevitable upcoming appeals.

Awwww shucks guys. Glenn, I will admit I did look at mine and realized it was fine as well and wondered if you saved it too. I thought I had nothing to lose. :confused3

I had put my trust in that preview thing. :sad2:

Just like Balto.:) Hope you did not have diptheria.:upsidedow

I don't think so. What're the symptoms?

She's been practicing, so she's tough to beat these days.

Thanks!

It's all true...I couldn't make it up. And here I was hoping that he'd grow out of it, but you say you still have moments like that huh?

:teeth: Well, to be honest I was thinking "what in the world am I going to do to make this chapter even remotely entertaining?" because in my mind the outline was:

A) We go on Test Track (which I've TR'd 2 or 3 times already)
B) Lauren gets sick (lotta laughs there)
C) <crickets chirping>

Have no fear - Lauren will be better before too long in the trip report. :)

I think this is the fastest I've seen one of your recent updates in quite a while, and yet..... still not quick enough to take a stab at finding Judys. :headache: Besides, Pat covered ALL her bases in case you expand the game options.

Yes, Pat was thorough, but even more importantly, first. Still, kudos to you on getting here quickly.

I had a sick kid just before getting on TT once, and sat on those very same benches. Although convenient, I wish they weren't used quite as much for that purpose.

We weren't on benches, just the floor with our backs against the wall. This was literally just before you leave the showroom and go into the dump shop (I think).

Ahhh, James- learning discretion is a toughy. He'll get it, if it involves food- since he's a guy. And he is. So, no worries.

Right, you can sneak plenty of cookies if you're quiet enough. :tiptoe:

(It was on your way home, right?)

Fortunately, James could go to Community Hall on his own, so she only had to have him with her on the trip back to the resort, so it wasn't a big deal in that regard.

No, this was our last casualty. The only string of sicky on someone's way home that I remember was you folks moving back to the U.S. And that was some string of sicky!

I got 3 Judys!

Good counting Kelly!

So, I'm confused. When was it that you went to the Austrian bistro place and someone was too sick to eat much, and that whole string of sicky one after hte other?? :confused3

Awww, it's too bad Lauren wasn't feeling well.

I had no idea they had those hats in Canada! My next objective in WS is to take a picture with ALL the hats.

Glen, I just caught up on your incredibly detailed and entertaining TR with a marathon of clicking and reading.

I am planning my first week-long WDW trip in early June 2012, and your report is super informative. Thank you! An ADR for Boma was already on my list of "must-dos" but it has now been moved to the "move heaven and earth to make it happen" column.

And what a wonderful family you have! Please keep the installments coming.

Thanks!

Oh...Poor Lauren! She looks like she is totally going to toss her cookies on that ride. I hope she starts to feel better really quickly. I also hope you have a nice day in the world showcase. Love your TT picture (well, except for Lauren). Everyone looks like they are having a blast. I also love your pics! Way to go holding on to that camera!

I think we started down that path when you were convinced Dan would send you a hug based on how he was looking at you when you guys were dancing to YMCA, and then Dan wondered which one of the VP personally taught you to dance YMCA....... :rolleyes1 I was just the moderator to keep from having a cat fight on my PTR!!!

So, I'm confused. When was it that you went to the Austrian bistro place and someone was too sick to eat much, and that whole string of sicky one after hte other?? :confused3

Oh that trip home, I thought you meant from Disney. Yeah, that was us! We came down with it before leaving for home, and it was all of us at once. Yuck!

Awww, it's too bad Lauren wasn't feeling well.

I had no idea they had those hats in Canada! My next objective in WS is to take a picture with ALL the hats.

Aw, thanks Yuki. Yep, there're hats all through the World Showcase. KatMark had a bunch of photos in her recent TR. That's a good objective...aim high (but not when you're the photographer).

Glen, I just caught up on your incredibly detailed and entertaining TR with a marathon of clicking and reading.

Woohoo! A new reader! :welcome: Mrs. Gumdrop!!! Wow, I love to read a post like that. :goodvibes You can post here any time!

I hope you stretched before that marathon and that there were water stations along the way. But seriously, that's a lot of reading, so thanks for taking the time.

I am planning my first week-long WDW trip in early June 2012, and your report is super informative. Thank you! An ADR for Boma was already on my list of "must-dos" but it has now been moved to the "move heaven and earth to make it happen" column.

Wow, planning your first trip. Wait, first-ever trip or first trip that long? You're obviously doing your homework, visiting the DIS, and I'm glad that you're finding some info. in here. Yes, if you like to try new foods (and soups  ) then you need to get yourself to Boma!

Hey, I see in your ticker that you'll be sailing on the Wonder. Is that your first Disney cruise? (I've never been on a Disney cruise.) A couple of my DIS-friends will be sailing on it also.

And what a wonderful family you have! Please keep the installments coming.

Oh thanks! Will do.

Oh...Poor Lauren! She looks like she is totally going to toss her cookies on that ride. I hope she starts to feel better really quickly. I also hope you have a nice day in the world showcase. Yeah, she was not in good shape. Good thing Judy told me.

She'll get better though.

Thanks. That ride's pretty smooth...I haven't dropped the camera yet!

:surfweb:Man oh man I am so behind on my Dis-reading!:surfweb:
time to catch up! Back to page 1 I go! (Sometimes it just makes sense to start over again!)

I peeked in here last night, and you were the last poster. I was like "do my eyes deceive me?"
omgblinky.gif
I haven't "seen" you for a looong while, Walking.

But a hearty :welcome: to the trip report! I hope you enjoy it. It's good to see you again!
