Day 7 - Part 4
By this time we felt like wed pretty thoroughly explored Innoventions and were ready to move on. So, it was time to use our fastpasses for Test Track.
Marlene matches-up pretty well with the 13-year-old girl. Maybe thats because she was thirteen?
James! What're you lookin' at?
Even though shes sixteen, Laurens head isnt nearly as big as this apparently-conceited 16-year-old boy.
While we were on the ride, I tried to get a picture of the semi-truck that pulls out in front of you. Yeah, it didnt turn out so well. Oh, this reminds me of a joke (answer after the picture): "What's the last thing to go through a bug's mind when it hits the windshield?"
Answer: "its butt"
Soon we were out and zipping around the track.
Whoo! Thats fast.
This reminds me, I need to do some banking later today.
Im not sure if Marlene could even see anything.
We exited the ride and picked up the Photopass card for our ride photo. It was pretty good, but do you see anyone who doesnt look to be their most chipper?
We walked into the automobile showroom and Judy said, We need to take a break for a little bit. Laurens not feeling very well. I guess the pace, the exhaustion, the heat, had all caught up with her. We sat down against the wall just before you exit the auto displays, out of the flow of pedestrian traffic.
Wed packed some sandwiches, carrot sticks, and chex mix and decided to discretely take them out right there and eat a little while we all caught our breath. Lauren didnt eat, of course, but the rest of us did. James waved his sandwich dramatically, sweeping his arm toward the showroom and asked, Can we eat in here? I pushed his arms back toward his chest and said, Yes, as long as you can be a little more nonchalant! Sheesh!
Our plan for the rest of the day was to tour the World Showcase. Marlene wanted to stick with the plan because she had a purchase in France she wanted to make. After resting for a little while, Lauren still wasnt ready to go anywhere just yet, so Judy decided that she and Lauren would continue to sit there for a little while longer and the rest of us would start touring the World Showcase. While they sat, they would try to decide whether to go back to the resort or to catch up to the rest of us in the World Showcase.
The prospect of heading back to the resort caused James to start begging
that he wanted to stay with Judy and Lauren. Hed much rather go to Kidanis Community Hall than the World Showcase. But Lauren didnt want her little brother hanging around while she didnt feel good, and plus I figured that the World Showcase would be a good learning opportunity for him, so I made him come with Marlene and me.
So, Marlene and James and I started our trek. We walked over to Canada and looked at the merchandise. This next picture was on Marlenes camera and was one of the photos I recently found.
Here, shes doing her best Davy Crockett impression, although I don't think she's ever seen the Disney movies from the '50's.
We started to continue on and had to get a picture at this often-photographed World Showcase landmark.
Just then, I got a phone call from Judy. She and Lauren were going to go back to the resort, but I had their park passes in my wallet and they wanted them just in case they decided to come back later. So we had to hoof it back to Future World to meet them. James immediately proclaimed that he wanted to go with them. Hed rather spend the afternoon at Community Hall than tour the borrrring World Showcase with Marlene and me. I relented and let him go. Theres probably nothing worse than dragging a kid through the World Showcase who doesnt want to be there.
Up next: My first World Tour (of this trip anyhow)
