Basking in the Glow of the (not so) Creepy Clown -2/11-Pictures, Final Thoughts, PTR!

Great update BE!

That breakfast looked fantastic. YC/BC is such a cool looking area. I'm sure you are just broken hearted that you will be forced to use SAB.

Brook I was so happy to see your review of the breakfast at Cape May. We have one scheduled for our up coming trip (dinner ADR too!) I'm worried about too much noise and up roar for my kids during a meal so I think they will be able to handle this one.

Thanks for Joe's opinion on Tron - I guess this is a film that makes so much more sense on a big screen where you can enjoy all the effects instead of from a DVD...

The Cape May update looks wonderful! I am only repeating what you have heard from so many already: Henry is sooo cute in these pics! :thumbsup2

I also saw that you said that Boma was better foodwise - so far Boma has been my favourite breakfast buffet in WDW, but I was thinking that Cape May might be nice when I stay at the Boardwalk. I like sit down breakfasts now and then and Cape May might be fun before heading to a Water Park - seems to fit the theme very well! :goodvibes But I am not soo much into characters - would you still think it is a good choice due to it being convenient from Boardwalk?

Hi, Brook! I was a couple of updates behind, but I think I am all caught up again!

The picture with Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum and Henry was seriously cute, but then I saw those pictures with Minnie! What preciousness! Love that sly look on Henry's face!

Eating and shopping is a great way to spend the time at DTD! I would gladly take one of those Nemo cookies right now!

Beautiful pictures of Boardwalk! I bet you will really enjoy trying out Stormalong Bay on your next trip!

Welcome to the Mickey Waffle Lovers Club! :lmao:

Just when I think Henry can't get any more adorable you go and post new pictures. What a cutie pie! It certainly looks like the character interaction at Cape May was great and I can tell that you had a great time.

Brooke - OMG - those pictures of Henry and Minnie brought tears to my eyes (yeah, I'm a big sap!)! Just adorable! :lovestruc

I love the Mickey waffles too - but my older DS REALLY loved the Mickey waffles. And they are pretty small. So we went to 'Ohana for breakfast on our last morning, and they put like 3 Mickey waffles on the table for us. I was like, Seriously? I asked the server for more, and she said that someone else would come around with them. About 20 minutes later, another server came by with a basket of Mickey waffles. And gave us 2 more. Umm, sorry, just drop that basket right here mister, because we're gonna need more than two!! So keep in mind that if you go to 'Ohana, they can be a bit stingy with the waffles, and you may need to attack the waffle-server to get your share!

How did I get 4 pages behind in 1 day? :rotfl:
Love the Cape amy pictures. What a cutie Henry is. He looks like he loved that candle on that cupcake...and of course the cupcake. Did he actually eat it then? Or just the frosting part? ;)
Claire watched the video with me and she wants them to sing to her too.
We ate at Cape May for breakfast our last trip and I really liked the food, but unlike you we had the worst waitress there. But even so we enjoyed it there and would go back in the future.

Hi Brook!

I had been reading (and lurking) for 3 days and am all caught up now! Then I saw you posting on the WW thread so I definitely had to say hello! :goodvibes

Love all of your updates - Henry is adorable!!!

I couldn't possibly comment on everything so I'll just start with your most recent. I completely agree that Cape May is a great (and I think sometimes underrated) character breakfast. It's fun without being all crazy like Chef Mickey's. The food is yummy (love the krispy kreme donuts) and the character interaction is great. My first time there, almost 10 years ago, was with my then 9-month old niece and Chip literally sat on the floor and held her for 10 minutes, rocking back and forth. It was so sweet a lady from another table started to cry!

SO CUTE!! :lovestruc

You need to frame that one! It's adorable!

I haven't responded to the TR in awhile! Just wanted to say I was still reading and doing this whole job search thing myself. My problem however is Im in the last stage of the interview process to work at disney world in the cultural rep program for a year at Epcot! So my job searching is half hearty because I need days off to go to the interview etc. But if I do get it you'll have to come see me and I'll spoil Henry rotten with stickers or if Im at Le Cellier chocolate cupcakes haha.

Im enjoying this TR and Im glad you'll be going on your next trip!

Henry is so cute with the characters! I thought he had a very interesting method with the cupcake- frosting first. :thumbsup2

We had breakfast at Cape May our last trip too, and have similar feelings about it. Have you ever had breakfast at Ohana'. Can't remember? If not, you guys should try it too, I think you would really like it. Great character interaction and you don't feel rushed either.

I love seeing the buses in your pictures. It must be something with little boys, because when we were there for my son's 3rd birthday he got the same buses. And loved them. Played with them so much, that on our next trip we thought about buying another set, just to be on the safe side. Well we thought we would find them at one store and didn't and to make a long story short we didn't buy another set. But we remedied the situation on our last trip. So now my son has two sets, will be 5 in March and still plays with them.

About another toy though. I know at one time you had talked about the monorail set. Don't know if you bought it or not. But in case you haven't, I wouldn't buy it. On our last trip, my son talked me into buying him just the monorail. And within a few days it broke. Now my son takes really good care of his toys, so it wasn't that. But the cars are connected with plastic hook things similar to other trains, and then the connection area is covered with the crinkley stuff, for lack of a better word. Well the cars can come apart but if you take them apart it takes about 2 times of doing so before the connector breaks. We even super glued it back together and it broke again, without us trying to take the cars apart. But from simply by it being played with. Glad we didn't buy the whole set.

Hate that your trip report is coming to an end, but I know that the big trip report is coming soon. So I'm excited.

We do have a breakfast planned with the princesses at Akershus. I thought it would be nice to just walk over from Beach Club....
Hmmmm, I wonder which one of her princess dresses she will need to wear? Maybe we should take a bunch and just change her under the table between photo ops!:rotfl:

Wonderful update. I love all the pics of Henry w/ the Cape May characters. We are going to have dinner there for the first time next trip and I can't wait, even though there will not be characters. I think we are gonna do Tusker House for brunch and Hollywood and Vine for breakfast or lunch so we will still get plenty of characters

Sad this report is coming to an end but can't wait to read the next one. I've gotta live thru you til August!

Tusker House has been on my list for years now. It gets excellent reviews, I'm sure it will be awesome! And I think that might be the only character meal with Daisy - is that right?

I am trying to hurry this along, though not doing so well at that. I want to write at least a bit of a PTR to get my thoughts out there and organized.

Nope, 2 more days and then we're outta here!:thumbsup2 I'm in a flurry of packing, no pun intended since we got a ton of snow last night! Thanks for the well wishes!:goodvibes

Awww, Henry is a cutie! I love that he had that little bus with him too, so boyish and adorable.:goodvibes I agree, the Minnie pics were priceless! He was too cute with that cupcake.

Now you are outta here!! :goodvibes

Just this morning Henry was carrying that same bus around. I'm so glad he still likes them and plays with them! They were a great purchase!

On my ancient(4 year old) MacBookPro I was running an older operating system (OSX10.4) and now I am running with the big boys (OSX10.6!) I lost a few things that I forgot to back up like my iTunes playlists and my iCalendar dates :-)headache:) but besides that I'm good. :goodvibes

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

I'd respond to all the one's where I thought he was EXTRA cute but it would take me a while! :cutie::cutie:

Ugh. I would be a wreck to loose my iCalendar! My life is on that thing.

I am not overly familiar with the Mac, but it's what I use, so I'm getting used to it. I haven't a clue where to find out what OS we are using. I have looked in what I thought would be obvious places...but the Mac is smarter than I apparently.

Okay, now that's REALLY bugging me. I know exactly where to find it on a PC...must Google.

OKAY I FEEL DUMB!

I looked in the "About this Mac..." in the Apple menu first, but since the wording is in gray, I just breezed over it. We are at 10.6 as well. I'm sure my geek of a husband keeps it always on the latest and greatest. ;)

Henry is just too cute!

I love the characters in their beach attire. Adorable!

Yay for your first Mickey waffle!! :yay: They are just so good :cloud9:

They are good! Perfectly done little Mickey's. I look forward to eating more of them in the near future!

Well, when you put it that way! Boma will definitely be more convenient since we're staying at AKL. Don loved dinner there when we tried it, although it has been years ago. Not to mention it's not nearly as in your face Disney like a character meal is - I better not push my luck, huh? You're right Boma it is!

Yes, enjoy it while you can, we're right in the middle of teenage years and I'm not sure I'm going to make it out of them :lmao:

:rotfl: Ya, in your case, you better not push your luck. ;) All of you will enjoy Boma, really-it is a great meal! Plus, it's wonderful to just wake up and eat right there in your hotel without the hassle of Disney transportation.

Sometimes I don't think I'll make it out of this third year. :headache: But I am thinking the teen years might be even worse!

Great updates! I'm getting caught up today. Henry is just sooo cute!!

I would love to stay at the Beach Club one day - it's such a beautiful resort. Tim & I walked through there a few years ago when we were at dinner at the Yacht Club. I've been wanting to stay there ever since! It's so cool that you'll get to use SAB in March! :thumbsup2

It really is a beautiful resort! I think it will be our next to try so long as we can get a room there. I'm certain after playing at SAB this coming trip we'll be itchin' to stay there as soon as possible!

Oh GEEZ are those some cute pictures with the characters:goodvibes

Thank you! It was a very memorable meal!

How cute is Henry while they're singing Happy Birthday to him?! I loved the video! :goodvibes

Cape May looks absolutely delicious! It's a restaurant I never even think to book, but after reading your update I should!

I just showed him that video again the other day and he asked about it being his birthday on this coming trip too. :rotfl:

Cape May was awesome! It is like a hidden gem. I never had the desire to eat there really, but kept hearing good things about it-and since we were at the BW, I thought "Why not?" So glad I did!

Oh my gosh....could Henry be any cuter? :) Adorable pictures with him and goofy (blowing out his candle) and Minnie.....what a charming cutie pie :goodvibes I love how at least one bus keeps reappearing!!! Reminds me of a magazine my parents get..."Country." They hide a needle (needle in a haystack har har har) somewhere on the pages in the issue. Now it is where is the bus in Henry's picture :lmao:

I have only been to CM for dinner but we have a breakfast there (I think :rotfl2:) in May....I like breakfast buffets....all the scrambled eggs I care to eat :thumbsup2 Seeing that they are the only scrambled eggs I ever eat I need to stock up  Sounds like you had a wonderful server too....definitely shows when someone loves their job :)

Happy you enjoyed your waffle :goodvibes So many new eats this trip....popcorn MH waffles :)

Tracy

After everyone's comments here about that one with Minnie I submitted it on the Memories Disney site. It is one of my favorites though from the trip! I really like the goofy one with the candle too!

That is funny about the magazine! It's true-it is just like that!

I loooooove breakfast buffets too. I could easily eat breakfast everyday on vacation, just do a snacky lunch and a CS dinner. But, Joe is not big on breakfast, he likes it, but not like me. This coming trip we have CM and Hollywood & Vine booked - I'm tempted to add Cape May again.

So many new eats that I can't believe I've never had! More of both the popcorn and the waffles will be consumed this trip!

Mmmmmm i loooooove those mickey waffles. Looks to me like you should get one of these! :

http://www.disneystore.com/disney/s...&storeId=10051&N=1000352&ddkey=http:DSISearch

And don't be ashamed, my first time trying Mickey Pancakes in Disneyland is well documented(though my pics are not quite as flattering as yours! :rolleyes1 ).

Love the update, Boardwalk is my DREAM resort, always has been. I can't wait for the opportunity to stay there, looks like you guys enjoyed it! Although BC is starting to get up there in my hopefuls as well...SAB, Beaches and Cream AND Cape May?! Man oh man. Hate to see this trip coming to an end. You're so lucky you get to just jump right back in though! :woohoo:

I love that waffle iron! And you can make other stuff in it too-very cool!!! I might have to put that on my birthday list. :thumbsup2

You gotta share your Mickey Pancake pictures now! When I handed Joe the camera to document the moment he just rolled his eyes and laughed, but when I started being overly dramatic he was clicking away and loving it. It was fun!

Oh I hope you are able to do the BW soon! It is wonderful! I cannot wait to be there again. The location, the access to good food in Epcot-plus at the other resorts, the entertainment, the overall feel of it...beautiful, beautiful! I can easily see why the Boardwalk has a big following in DVC and many of the members don't even care to stay elsewhere. And yes, the Beach Club has been creeping up on my list (even though I'm not a general fan of the "beach" theme), and I'm certain after SAB it will be VERY close to, if not, the top!

Brook, I love your pictures of the Beach Club, inside and out. They remind me why we want to stay there once after we try AKL.

I have, however, decided that I have to stop reading reports. Every time I do, I see a restaurant that we've been to and I want to go back to or one I want to try (you, it was Cape May, Cynthia it was Tutto). I'm driving Mark crazy with my indecision on restaurants and our trip isn't for eight months yet!

I am in love with the picture of Henry kissing Minnie's nose (I think I have one of Markie when he was really young doing the same thing...I'll have to see if I can find it when I go home). It is too precious and a definite keeper in a frame photo.

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO glad you finally tried Mickey Waffles. You will be hooked like the rest of us.

 You sound like me this trip! I've gone through and made so many ADRs, then canceled them, only to make more a week later. Everyday I bring up something. I can't even tell you exactly what we have booked because I've gone through so many changes. I do like your idea of throwing it all in a hat though!

Yes! Please see if you can find the one of Markie and share it! I'd love to see it!!!

You got me on the popcorn AND the Mickey waffles. And I was seriously missing out. Both are delicious!

Great update BE!

That breakfast looked fantastic. YC/BC is such a cool looking area. I'm sure you are just broken hearted that you will be forced to use SAB.

Completely torn apart about SAB.

Devastated.

;)

We can say hi to George and then pad on over to SAB baby! :woohoo:

Brook I was so happy to see your review of the breakfast at Cape May. We have one scheduled for our up coming trip (dinner ADR too!) I'm worried about too much noise and up roar for my kids during a meal so I think they will be able to handle this one.

It is very, very chill. Have you done Chef Mickey's? COMPLETE opposite. The colors and overall vibe of the dining room is relaxing. Natural light, booths (and regular chairs combo) - buffet in the front of the room - it's just nice. And since there are only 3 characters and I don't believe there is any sort of loud music/dance thing (at least we didn't experience it if there is). I think it's a great choice!

:thumbsup2

I do think it's a good choice, even if you aren't big into the characters. There are only 3 and they aren't in your face like at Chef Mickey's. I mentioned it above to Heidi, I don't think there is a song/dance or napkin waving - any of that.

However, I've heard really good reviews about the breakfast at Kouzzina, so that might be an even better option for you since it's right there at the Boardwalk and no characters.

:lmao:

That Nemo cookie was GOOD! I am not a big fan of frosting, and frosting on top of a cookie is generally way too much sweet for me, but that was actually very tasty. Henry was gobbling it away. I think he shoved down half of it before we even noticed!

I am very happy to be a new member of the Mickey Waffle Lovers Club!

Just when I think Henry can't get any more adorable you go and post new pictures. What a cutie pie! It certainly looks like the character interaction at Cape May was great and I can tell that you had a great time.

Aw, thanks!!! It was a great meal, very memorable!

So keep in mind that if you go to 'Ohana, they can be a bit stingy with the waffles, and you may need to attack the waffle-server to get your share!

You are too sweet! They bring a big grin to my face, it was such a fun breakfast!

That is good to know about 'Ohana! We almost booked that this trip (I'm still tempted...) and we would EASILY eat 3, and then 2 more??? What?! I would probably tell them, "Leave the basket." :rolleyes1 :lmao:

How did I get 4 pages behind in 1 day? :rotfl:
Love the Cape amy pictures. What a cutie Henry is. He looks like he loved that candle on that cupcake...and of course the cupcake. Did he actually eat it then? Or just the frosting part? ;)
Claire watched the video with me and she wants them to sing to her too.
We ate at Cape May for breakfast our last trip and I really liked the food, but unlike you we had the worst waitress there. But even so we enjoyed it there and would go back in the future.

No, he didn't actually eat the cupcake. If I remember correctly he didn't eat much that meal... he did take a couple big bites of the frosting, then left the rest behind. He probably would have eaten more if I had cut it, but I was okay with him not eating that before lunch!

That is so cute about Claire! I can just picture her all dolled up and looking beautiful with the characters singing to her....:lovestruc

That is awful about the waitress! We had a terrible waitress at Chef Mickey's years ago-she totally disappeared! Even when Henry was sick, she was no where to be found, other servers helped us. Hopefully it was just a fluke for both of us!

Hi Brook!

I had been reading (and lurking) for 3 days and am all caught up now! Then I saw you posting on the WW thread so I definitely had to say hello! :goodvibes

I do think Cape May is underrated! You really don't hear much about it...but I kinda like that - it's a hidden gem. I like to keep it a secret.

That is ADORABLE about Chip rocking your niece! Oh my word...so so sweet. :cloud9:

SO CUTE!! :lovestruc

You need to frame that one! It's adorable!

Thank you! :goodvibes I hope to eventually make a book of various pictures from trips and that one will be included for sure! I submitted it on the Memories site earlier today too since so many of you have commented on it!

I haven't responded to the TR in awhile! Just wanted to say I was still reading and doing this whole job search thing myself. Im enjoying this TR and Im glad you'll be going on your next trip!

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES! We will come see you! :hyper: Please keep me posted and I send you lots of pixie dust and prayers on the job! How exciting!!! (and you can spoil me with pretzel bread if you are at LeCellier...;))

Henry is so cute with the characters! I thought he had a very interesting method with the cupcake- frosting first. :thumbsup2

He knows where the good stuff is! When I buy him a donut he always eats all the frosting off first too....

We had breakfast at Cape May our last trip too, and have similar feelings about it. Have you ever had breakfast at Ohana'. Can't remember? If not, you guys should try it too, I think you would really like it. Great character interaction and you don't feel rushed either.

We haven't done 'Ohana...but it has been lingering on my mind for this coming trip-esp since it's on the monorail and we will be too. And now that you say it's chill...ooooh, I want it! We will see if I can convince Joe!

That is so great to hear about your DS still playing with his buses! Henry still plays with his too-they are lined up right now on the kitchen table. That is a great idea to buy a second set. I might have to do that, just in case!

That is awful about the monorail set! Have you tried to write the company/return it? It's such an expensive toy, you'd think it would be better made. :sad2:

I am so excited to get on with the new PTR. I am enjoying living through this one, but itchin' to move on too!

We do have a breakfast planned with the princesses at Akershus. I thought it would be nice to just walk over from Beach Club....
Hmmmm, I wonder which one of her princess dresses she will need to wear? Maybe we should take a bunch and just change her under the table between photo ops!:rotfl:

Ahhhh, don't you just love that Epcot is so close?!?!

:lmao: about changing her clothes under the table!!

Cruising right along! We left off after we had just eaten a fun and memorable breakfast at Cape May, Henry had made his first girlfriend, and I became the newest member in the Mickey Waffle Lovers Club.

We had a pretty loose day planned. Breakfast, MK in the afternoon for a DIS Meet with Liesa and LL, Welcome Home Wednesday and possibly hit AK PM EMH.

As we were leaving the Beach Club area we thought we'd walk through Epcot, hit up Soarin' if Henry was tall enough today, then board the monorail for MK in anticipation of our DIS Meet.

We, of course, took the VIP Entrance into Epcot!

Strolling along, heading to Future World, trying to soak in what I thought would be our last minutes of Epcot.

Very soon we arrived at our destination
1017229815_GAmG2-L.jpg

As soon as we were in the building Henry knew just what we were going for-and he was PUMPED!

He ran straight for that measuring stick...
1017161464_hVckK-L.jpg

And....

HE MADE IT!

He remembered the other day though, as they measured him he was watching my face-waiting for my reaction. When I burst into a grin he literally started to dance! He was soooooooooo excited to ride "the airplane ride" again!

I believe I posted "It's all about the shoes!" on Facebook shortly after this successful measuring. Previously in the trip he was wearing his orange sandals, but these ones were higher, they boosted him up just enough to squeak in. So parents with toddlers, BRING TALL SHOES! We measured him the other day in bare feet and he's now 40.5", so there will be no problems on this coming trip!

Into the queue we went...
1017296942_AS6Ya-L.jpg

Running, dancing and laughing our way through it!

1017257822_xaC7D-L.jpg

The line was short - it wasn't 5 minutes like our previous ride, but it was only around 15 or 20. The CM working here was chatting it up with a little boy and asked him if he'd like to run Soarin' for a bit. He literally took off his jacket and tie, dressed up the little boy and had him stand behind the desk. It was adorable!

On Soarin' they measure you in two places...at the second measuring stick...

And he was suddenly too short.

WHAT?!

Henry's face fell when he saw mine. :guilty:

I explained to the CM they passed us at the front and he had already ridden Soarin' AND he had ridden Test Track as well! The CM walked us up front and they measured Henry-under the watch of both a manager and the CM from inside the ride.

HE PASSED!

1017293812_ntnFB-L.jpg

I was relieved that Henry passed and we soon were on our little arrow watching the video.

1017348271_38pa4-L.jpg

We made it!

One quick shot with my favorite fountain

1017232572_VAPAS-L.jpg

And the plan was to head over to MK; however, LL and I had been texting back and forth. Our time at Soarin' took longer than I expected due to the drama with the height thing - and of course there is no phone service in the queue, so poor LL and Marc were melting over at MK waiting for us.

A few texts back and forth and we decided we'd play it by ear - AK PM EMH might work, or DTD later that night, or even MK tomorrow before we left.

During the text conversation Henry was asking for one thing...Test Track!

Surprised? Me neither!

So, it worked out. I was able to say yes to Henry about Test Track, and LL and Marc could escape the brutal heat they had already been in for hours. LL wished Henry a fun time via text and we agreed to keep in touch about how the plans for the day unfolded.

Henry was given a red tag necklace, which he thought was very, very cool and special.

This area is kinda cool, we usually rush through it, but we lingered a bit this time.

I do believe Joe gave the Henry the option of choosing TWO cars to play in and that was it. Thank you honey! :lovestruc
