Video Killed the Trip Report Star: A Little Halloween Magic (Western) Complete!!

After leisurely relaxing on the balcony watching the sunset, and snacking on some yummy chicken tenders from Pluto’s (of course!), we actually did not have a lot of time to get ready before the show, the first time we would get to see the relatively new Villains Tonight!

cruiseOct2010157.jpg

There was a lot more hype surrounding this show after it first debuted last summer in the Med. It was the centerpiece of entirely themed Villains night, with a special menu and what was even more enticing to me: a Villians-exclusive meet and greet in the Atrium in the late evening. Unfortunately after dry dock in early October, things were tweaked a bit and the Villains menu and character meet and greet had been eliminated, left with a rather disjointed pairing of the Villains Tonight show with a regular dinner rotational menu. And that also messed up our dinner rotation speculation, which seems to happen every cruise now.

In any event, we were still anticipating highly enjoying a new Disney production. Once again, we made it to the theater with barely any time to spare. This time the house lights had been turned down already and we had to wait a few minutes to actually find five seats together.

Back in our “usual” spot off to the far right. We were lucky to get seats, and really needed to work on getting to the theater earlier in the future!

My opinion on the show, it was good, but not great. It starts off well, and ends well, but drags quite a bit in the middle, as each of the 7-8 or so villain characters gets an individual cameo. Great to introduce those to people who aren’t as familiar with some of the lesser known villains, but a bit redundant to those of us fans who have seen the movies (in my case..multiple times!) and know why they’re bad. I got what must have been a much-needed nap through the mid point of the show.

I did not get very good pictures, but here is a shot from the rather enjoyable Captain Hook/pirates interlude:

cruiseOct2010161-1.jpg

Hades, Pain, and Panic are always entertaining (man I miss the old Hercules show!)

cruiseOct2010163.jpg

And from the finale:

cruiseOct2010165.jpg

We were among the first folks out of the theater after the show, (sorry Brent!). We were on a mission, dressed and headed to the Atrium for some photos. The girls had super cute Minnie Mouse inspired dresses on, and we had hoped the catch Minnie in her traditional red polka dot dress, although it wasn't meant to be this cruise (she always seemed to be dressed in some other attire, tonight she was “Princess Minnie”).

When it was our turn, it was the usual, Sarah running around in a circle excitedly:

cruiseOct2010169.jpg

cruiseOct2010168-1.jpg

cruiseOct2010170-1.jpg

And caught! Minnie did notice Sarah’s dress, with a point and a “blush” hands-up to her face gesture!

shutterscruise10014.jpg

From there, we hopped in Mickey’s line, and our color scheme this evening matched him in his Sorceror costume perfectly!

shutterscruise10002.jpg

shutterscruise10001.jpg

Is this not the best photo ever? Thank goodness for the kiosks, they had actually not printed this one up, presumably because Sarah was not looking at the camera. We had to order it and have it printed out, but we are so thankful for this opportunity, which we did not have on our last cruise!

Don’t ask me how, but either we have this show, photos, variety show, dinner routine down pat, or our timing was just good this evening. (Maybe a bit of both). But we now headed to Rockin’ Bar D to catch the Family Variety show by comedian/singer John Charles. The show hadn’t started yet, but we weren’t early by any means and again it was hard to find four seats together-Sarah would have to sit on our lap-and we were lucky to get that.

The show started almost immediately after we were seated, and I was a little disappointed to hear some of the exact same material as the last time we caught his show. It was still very fun, even though I had heard it all before, and even if he didn’t open with Jimmy Buffett. (He still had his trademark line “I live in Florida, if you turn on a faucet, Jimmy Buffett comes out”…hilarious! And sadly, not true! At least not in Tampa, all I ever get is yucky FL water!)

In any event we had fun with the first part of the show, especially when John Charles started taking requests. He did some AC/DC, Justin Bieber, Eminem, Lady GaGa, and was just about to start a rousing rendition of Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean when Sarah started to flip out, yet again.

JC1.png

Hey you, shut that kid up! (Just kidding, he was actually just singing a song in this screenshot taken from one of my videos, which are too long to post).

We were too close to the front, and the acoustics in Rockin Bar D were not favorable to stifling the screams in the least, so I had to make an emergency exit, with wailing, thrashing toddler in tow. The worst part was where we were sitting, there was no escape but to come out and around the front row (right in front of the stage) to get to the path to the door. Embarassing. I did it as quickly and as least-disruptively as possible.

Sarah and I took a quick trip to the bathroom (the cruise ship toilets TOTALLY freaked her out), and that was fun:rolleyes:, then we headed back to Beat Street where she amused herself running down the hall and pointing at the city lights in the murals that lined the hallway. This allowed me to somewhat watch the show from the doorway. If any moonwalking took place though- I didn’t see it.

After that, it was time for dinner, and we sure were hungry. We were back in Lumiere’s this evening, for the rotational French dinner. We headed back to our table tucked in the corner to find everything ready for us, as we had become accustomed to.

cruiseOct2010183-1.jpg

A little posing for the camera, I already look tired in this photo!

cruiseOct2010179-1.jpg

cruiseOct2010180.jpg

Sarah almost immediately became cranky, and we knew we were “on the clock” counting down to the inevitable meltdown. She was temporarily amused by some menu origami from Passayu:

cruiseOct2010185-1.jpg

Meanwhile, service started off quick. We began with our appetizers. Brendan had the Chilled Jumbo Shrimp with Horseradish Cream.

cruiseOct2010187-1.jpg

cruiseOct2010188-1.jpg

Ron had the Applewood Smoked Bacon and Wild Mushroom Tart with Creamy Leeks, which would normally be right up my alley but for some reason this evening I just had the Market Green Salad with Raspberry Vinaigrette.

cruiseOct2010190-1.jpg

(I was probably filling myself up on the warm French Country Bread!)

Savannah’s and Sarah’s kids meals came out promptly after appetizers were served. Passayu made us some creative ketchup creations this evening!

Sarah got this happy-faced (I think) Ketchup Mouse’O Lantern with her usual Chicken Strips:

cruiseOct2010191.jpg

And Savannah got a very special ketchup Ariel (which I totally could not figure out what in the world he was making until I saw the finished product):

cruiseOct2010189-1.jpg

Not too long after our main courses arrived, the same choice for Ron, Brendan, and myself: Grilled Beef Tenderloin over Olive Oil Smashed Potatoes and Bacon-Wrapped Asparagus. Yummy!

cruiseOct2010192-1.jpg

The problem was, Sarah was already finished with all she was going to eat of her food (not much), and commenced yet another ear-piercing tantrum. Our terrific Head Server Godwin heard this happening and rushed to the rescue, bringing her on a “tour” around the dining room, which made her very happy, and gave us just enough time to finish our entrees.

cruiseOct2010193.jpg

**Continued in next post**

Our serving team was top notch this evening and when Sarah returned from her trip around the room was very quick to get dessert to us knowing we had a very small window of opportunity to enjoy it.

Ron’s selection this evening: the Ice Cream Sundae. Vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce and a hazelnut croquant (which is that shortbread cookie thing on top):

cruiseOct2010195-1.jpg

Brendan and Sarah had Mickey Bars:

cruiseOct2010197.jpg

cruiseOct2010196.jpg

Savannah had chocolate pudding, apparently only sad that this was too small of a portion for her liking.

cruiseOct2010198.jpg

And for your viewing pleasure I present to you my desserts –plural-. The Chocolate Mousse with Brandy-Marinated Cherries, and of course, the Grand Marnier Souffle’ with creamy Vanilla Sauce!

cruiseOct2010199-1.jpg

cruiseOct2010200.jpg

This is apparently why I decided to forego the Bacon Tart appetizer! Both were delicious, the Grand Marnier soufflé was amazing, second only to the Palo chocolate soufflé as my favorite DCL desserts.

This evening we were among the first few to duck out of the restaurant’s back entrance with an exhausted Sarah. Thankfully our team adapted so well in keeping our service moving along rapidly, as well as Passayu and Godwin entertaining Sarah for us.

Back in our room, we were greeted by a Sea Turtle- very appropriate given our stop in Grand Cayman that day!

cruiseOct2010201.jpg

cruiseOct2010202-1.jpg

The kids had a turtle too, with Sav’s penguin pillow pet riding along.

cruiseOct2010204.jpg

And in the corner, yesterday’s Swan had been redesigned into a lobster (or a scorpion, depending on your interpretation).

cruiseOct2010205-1.jpg

As usual, we had a TON of Fish Extender gifts awaiting us, here Sarah tries on one of her FE gifts, cool sunglasses!

cruiseOct2010208-1.jpg

Speaking of Fish Extenders, another shout out to his amazing group of Diser’s! The quantity, quality, and creativity of these FE gifts are second to none! We were completely overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity! Here’s a look at just some of these awesome treats and treasures (enough to almost completely cover my dining room table, and this is not even all of it!!) :

Sarah went to sleep quickly, and Brendan watched her while Savannah, Ron and I went to begin our Fish Extender deliveries.
Our gifts, as has been our tradition, are personalized ballpoint pens:

Thanks to fellow Diser Janice (Disney-Cruizer), we had these awesome maps to work off with all of the rooms participating in the FE exchange all indicated to make easy deliveries:

mapsfront.png

femaps.png

We started down on Deck 2, and made our way through Deck 6 before we called it a night, and returned to our room. It was lots of fun, and we got a kick out of checking out all of the creative door designs and FE’s. There were so many decorated doors, even from many people not part of our meet thread. It was so festive!

Brendan headed back to the Edge for whatever late night fun was going on there, and the rest of us hit the sack, since we had another fun filled day planned tomorrow in Cozumel!

Up Next: 100 More Disers (and One Beach)!

HA, we went there.. only for about an hour we got some chow after our bootleg tour let the kids swim then we headed over to 7mile.. I had a beer what can i say, when in Rome... go with what ya know LOL

That's right! Now I remember!:goodvibes LMAO! The bootleg tour!!! :rotfl2:That was you guys with the really bad cabdriver right? Man I should go back and reread those old TR's, I bet they are a hoot!:lmao:

Looks like everyone had a great time in Margaritaville! Great update! Can't wait to read more. :)

Woo-hoo, wait no more! :woohoo:

Great update! Love the pics of the kids with Sorcerer Mickey!
Do you just deliver your FE gifts once during your cruise? I'd like to do it for our July cruise, just wondering what everyone does, thanks!

OMG!! I love, love, love the pics with Mickey!! Super adorable...

My head server did not earn his tip anywhere near yours :lmao: that's awesome!!

What did you have in Sarah's hair?? That is to cute

After leisurely relaxing on the balcony watching the sunset, and snacking on some yummy chicken tenders from Pluto’s (of course!), we actually did not have a lot of time to get ready before the show, the first time we would get to see the relatively new Villains Tonight!
oh how i miss those snacks, villain show look awesome

There was a lot more hype surrounding this show after it first debuted last summer in the Med. well that stinks it would have been awesome to have a complete "theme" night.

My opinion on the show, it was good, but not great. It starts off well, and ends well, but drags quite a bit in the middle, as each of the 7-8 or so villain characters gets an individual cameo. I got what must have been a much-needed nap through the mid point of the show.
HA a nap during the shows is always a good thing as long as the guy next to you dont mind a lil snoring just saying.:rolleyes1 .

I did not get very good pictures, but here is a shot from the rather enjoyable Captain Hook/pirates interlude:
hey their not blurry, apparently you didnt go to the same school as Pods and I lol

And caught! Minnie did notice Sarah’s dress, with a point and a “blush” hands-up to her face gesture!
awww how cute, too bad she wasnt dress correct (minnie not the girls LOL) that would have been a great pic (still is!)

Is this not the best photo ever? Thank goodness for the kiosks, they had actually not printed this one up, presumably because Sarah was not looking at the camera. We had to order it and have it printed out, but we are so thankful for this opportunity, which we did not have on our last cruise!
so how are the kiosks, are they packed with people trying to have at it? do they still put your pics up like before? can you view from your stateroom? does it work off your KTTW card? Can I still save a bunch of money on my car insurance by switching to GEICO? :lmao:

aww if only they could come home and get it ready for us everynight.

ok they maybe jumbo but really 2 LOL

Ron had the Applewood Smoked Bacon and Wild Mushroom Tart with Creamy Leeks, which would normally be right up my alley but for some reason this evening I just had the Market Green Salad with Raspberry Vinaigrette.
oh that looks so yummy, i could seriously lick my screen right now LOL (darn this diet LOL)

And Savannah got a very special ketchup Ariel (which I totally could not figure out what in the world he was making until I saw the finished product):
TOO CUTE!!! and different!

NOW THATS WHAT MAKES DISNEY STAND APART! :thumbsup2:lovestruc

And for your viewing pleasure I present to you my desserts –plural-. The Chocolate Mousse with Brandy-Marinated Cherries, and of course, the Grand Marnier Souffle’ with creamy Vanilla Sauce!
THATS MY GIRL!!!!!:cool1: oh man they both looked yummy i would have done it too, oh wait i did LOL

Speaking of Fish Extenders, another shout out to his amazing group of Diser’s! The quantity, quality, and creativity of these FE gifts are second to none! WOW impressive, i just recently found some in our suitcase lol guess i missed a few either that or i dont clean very well

Sarah went to sleep quickly, and Brendan watched her while Savannah, Ron and I went to begin our Fish Extender deliveries.

I still have ours from yall! I only use it to vacation plan LOLits an awesome momento!

Brendan headed back to the Edge for whatever late night fun was going on there, and the rest of us hit the sack, since we had another fun filled day planned tomorrow in Cozumel!
HA i was thinking didnt you already tell us about Cozumel but that was El, darn im getting trippies all confuesed. lol Cant wait to hear how your time went.. dont forget to check the time LOL

Woo hoo!!! Ask and Ye shall Receive! :woohoo: lol Love, love LOVE the pics with Mickey and the kids! They are amazing!!! Glad your head server jumped in and helped out with Sarah. That is why I'm wanting to cruise Disney, all the little extra touches! Awesome FE pics and gifts!!! I so shouldn't have looked at your update before eating lunch though because now I'm starving!:rotfl: I'm off to make lunch now and hoping for another update soon. :thumbsup2

What a fun time at Margaritaville! :thumbsup2

What a generous group of DISers you cruised with! All those FE gifts look fantastic! :goodvibes

I love taking the time and checking out the decorated doors!

note to self bring an extra suit case on cruise for all the goodies you accumulate...looks great. DISers are some of the best people I have met.

Great update! Love the pics of the kids with Sorcerer Mickey!
Do you just deliver your FE gifts once during your cruise? I'd like to do it for our July cruise, just wondering what everyone does, thanks!

Thanks! Each FE group has it's own way of doing things...some are loosely organized with "deliver whenever you want" (which I prefer) and some groups assign folks to certain days to space out deliveries evenly. I do like when it is not assigned or too structured since we can usually not get the entire boat done in one night. The only problem you can encounter is when everyone delivers at once (the first Sea Days(s) are the heaviest), and there is nowhere for people to leave gifts if the FE gets too full (we were overflowing to the floor several times over the cruise). Alos everyone tends to get the deliveries done early so by days 5, 6, and 7 usually there is very little delivered. This cruise there were more things dropped on the last few days than the last cruise, I'm not sure we got anything at all after day 5 last time! This time, we did even get stuff the last day.:thumbsup2

We usually start doing our drops on Day 4 or 5, and it usually takes 2 evenings. We'll start at either the top or bottom and work our way down or up. But we do only make one drop per room per cruise. Hope that helps. You should definitely participate on your cruise, it is so much fun!!! :goodvibes

Godwin has my vote for the best Head Server ever!!!:thumbsup2

Another great update!!

Yes, he was absolutely terrific!!! :thumbsup2

OMG!! I love, love, love the pics with Mickey!! Super adorable...

My head server did not earn his tip anywhere near yours :lmao: that's awesome!!

Yes he got a great tip and he deserved every penny, he was wonderful!!! And of all nights, this was one I really wanted to enjoy the food, and although this only gave us a short reprieve it was enough to relax for a few minutes and just..enjoy! :goodvibes

What did you have in Sarah's hair?? That is to cute

Oh my gosh, aren't those adorable? I found them on Etsy, they are little Minnie Mouse Bow hairclips with Ears attached. The lady who makes them can custom them all up, she has two different size ears (for toddlers and older kids) and you can pick what color you want your bows, etc. They ere a decent deal too, I think they only cost $8.95!! (Which is enough to make Ron :scared1: but in the world of custom hairbows, not too bad.)

Woo hoo!!! Ask and Ye shall Receive! :woohoo: lol Love, love LOVE the pics with Mickey and the kids! They are amazing!!! Glad your head server jumped in and helped out with Sarah. That is why I'm wanting to cruise Disney, all the little extra touches!

Yes, they really do just know what to do when it comes to the kids. There really is a difference when it comes down to it. :goodvibes

Awesome FE pics and gifts!!! I so shouldn't have looked at your update before eating lunch though because now I'm starving!:rotfl: I'm off to make lunch now and hoping for another update soon. :thumbsup2

Oh it kills me to write these...that steak was sooooooooo good too. Animator's used to be our favorite menu by far, but now it is solidly Lumiere's. (Til We Meet Again menu is great too.) I will give you a spoiler, the next couple of dinners were huge busts for me foodwise, but that was moreso due to my choices than quality, as overall the food was just outstanding this cruise. But we are coming on a lull. So diets may be safe for the next few segments! ;)

I will try to keep plugging away, especially with Ellen held up in St. John. (Trying to catch her!!) The next segment is a doozy though and I have been working on the movie intermittently (only up to MNSSHP in the video) as well.

What a fun time at Margaritaville! :thumbsup2

What a generous group of DISers you cruised with! All those FE gifts look fantastic! :goodvibes

They really were over the top out of this world!!! :worship: Some of the great gifts not shown there are Ellen's Christmas Ornament which was one of the coolest things ever, Judy's handpainted picture frame with an awesome photo of the Magic in it, some Mickey dishtowels (too cute to use, they are just decoration), just really amazing handmade stuff. I was in awe, cause actual handcrafts and I don't get along. Of course we also got a ton of candy (my favorites were te regional specialties, chocolate from abroad was divine) and yes...I am pretty sure we got some of the Trick or Treat candy back in our FE. Cracked us up!!!!!! :rotfl:

[
I love taking the time and checking out the decorated doors!

Oh that was sooo fun! and you would not believe how many doors were all done up, if was just awesome!!!! You couldn't walk past 3 or 4 without seeing a decoration of some sort! And we saw some really creative stuff!!!!:thumbsup2

NOW THATS WHAT MAKES DISNEY STAND APART! :thumbsup2:lovestruc

Yes, it truly is. :goodvibes

oh how i miss those snacks, villain show look awesome
Yeah. :) I would go see it again, but IMO it isn't on the caliber of Dreams or Golden Mickeys.

well that stinks it would have been awesome to have a complete "theme" night.
Yea I was so looking forward to the meet & mingle, :sad2:

HA a nap during the shows is always a good thing as long as the guy next to you dont mind a lil snoring just saying. .
Nah , Ron's used to it! :rotfl2:

hey their not blurry, apparently you didnt go to the same school as Pods and I lol
Err..well I might not have graduated but I definitely did attend. I just didn't post my thesis material here , KWIM? ;)

so how are the kiosks, are they packed with people trying to have at it?
During the busy times around dinner, yes...especially as the cruise goes on. But seems like they are empty all of the other times of the day and night. We had no problem getting to one when we wanted to, but there aren't many (8 maybe?)

And they all have clear signage posted regarding taking pictures of pictures being prohibited.;):lmao:

do they still put your pics up like before?
Yes, and it's still as crazy busy in there as ever.

can you view from your stateroom?
Not on the Magic, but I have heard or read that on the Dream they at least display a new one of your pictures daily on the TV, not sure if you can view them all there or purchase through the TV.

does it work off your KTTW card?
yeppers, but some of it is supposedly facial recognition, they say taking the embarkation pic is omportant to getting all your pics together (esp. on the Dream where they have your pics int he books by stateroom)

Can I still save a bunch of money on my car insurance by switching to GEICO?

YES!!!! LOL! :rotfl::rotfl2:

just thinki it could have been worse.. ya could have fell lol
Thank God, there were no trash cans in my way! ;)

ok they maybe jumbo but really 2 LOL

Yeah..we said the same thing!!

oh that looks so yummy, i could seriously lick my screen right now LOL (darn this diet LOL)

THATS MY GIRL!!!!! oh man they both looked yummy i would have done it too, oh wait i did LOL

Yes, you'll be pleased to know my focus at dinner starts turning to dessert from here on out (on the days I was still around for it, but we'll get to that). :thumbsup2

WOW impressive, i just recently found some in our suitcase lol guess i missed a few either that or i dont clean very well
:
I still have ours from yall! I only use it to vacation plan LOLits an awesome momento!

LMAO! Aww, that's sweet, I wish those DDD pens had worked better, they looked nice but they did write like crap. We actually used a sample of these pens first so i knew they wrote smoothly (and they do!).

I still have some of my post its, I only use them on special occasions too!!! Ya know yer important if you get a CC post it from me..LOL:lmao:
HA i was thinking didnt you already tell us about Cozumel but that was El, darn im getting trippies all confuesed. lol Cant wait to hear how your time went.. dont forget to check the time LOL

I know it's confusing me too! LOL, that's why I am trying to catch up with her, but i have a full day to get through first!
!

note to self bring an extra suit case on cruise for all the goodies you accumulate...looks great. DISers are some of the best people I have met.

Yes! They sure are! And the FE gifts DID fill a full (albeit small) suitcase!!!

A heads-up for everyone reading Jenn's report: can't you tell that she and Ron are awesome cruise people?

Our Halloween Magic cruise was blessed to have them and their kids on board. The Disney Halloween Cruise was my family's first cruise -- and I must say that we are now completely "hooked" on the experience. I knew this would happen long before we actually cruised, thanks to the likes of Jenn and Ron, Ellen aka Podsnel (you have to read her reports and then you'll know why she is priceless), Judy aka TJBaggott (one of the Disigners, MJ (one of the moderator's of the whole gig), Janice aka DisneyCruiser (who kept our meet board rolling along), Sheri aka threeiscrazy (who is anything but crazy) and Jeff aka Pudo (who is now a very close friend) and TONS of other people who were willing to help in a pinch.

When I signed onto the Disboard for this first cruise I was a rookie at joining anything...still am timid about posting pictures, etc. But when I asked a simple question on my meet board, lo and behold, I got lots of answers. And beyond that ... many people on my meet board PM'd me with even more advice -- especially the three J's: Jenn, Judy and Jeff. If you ever cruise with anyone of them you should consider yourself pixie dusted and then some. I mean it!

There were lasting friendships forged on this cruise, even beforehand for me. I wanted to hang out with some of my online buddies on the cruise itself but that proved difficult as one of my children was up and down for the count with asthma. So I couldn't really venture out at night, and when we did it met with mixed results. No worries though. My family had a great time thanks to all of my friends like Jenn on our meet board.

Enough waxing poetic. But sometimes this stuff really needs to be said.

Beth

Those are just the most adorable things I have ever seen. I was reading the update and all I could think about is what are those and I want some!! I really need to spend more time on Etsy, I never knew about that website until I bought my FE and really haven't searched through it!! And $8.95 is not bad at all, I just bought her a Tangled headband from Claire's last week and it cost me $6, and those are waay cuter then the headband!!

I guess I was a little off on price, this is the seller I bought from and they are $11.99 for two. Sorry about that, still worth it IMO!:lovestruc

Very true, but we can't forget you!!!! :worship: The Treasure Hunt at Nachi was so wonderful, thanks to your hard work and effort! (And Judy and Sheri too) I can't wait to share with everyone what fun that was!! And I was watching from the sidelines! I know what a difficult time poor Hope was having with her asthma, but when Jeff came up to me and said you might not make it out that day, I was in brief panic- because I didn't know what to do to help (I think that was the only pie I didn't really have my fingers in):rotfl2: Who knows what would have happened if you had not made it out, but thankfully we know how that story ends (well, we will after the next installment!) But anyway, your effort is not to be discounted in any way! :goodvibes

And beyond that ... many people on my meet board PM'd me with even more advice -- especially the three J's: Jenn, Judy and Jeff. If you ever cruise with anyone of them you should consider yourself pixie dusted and then some. I mean it!

Beth that means so much to me that I have helped make a lasting effect on the joy you and your family and others experienced and will look back on fondly!!! :cloud9: That's what it's all about!!! Great people helping other great people out and having a blast doing it. Disney cruises are magical on their own but the extra touches from this amazing group of people on this website are priceless! (And not to sound like a bad Mastercard commercial, but it really is!!)

Beth

Awww.......pass the tissues, girl!! All I can say is I'm so happy to have made such a postive impact! It makes all the hard work (that wasn't really hard work cause it was so much fun) worth it in spades!!!:goodvibes

And if you are trying to nudge me to the 8/25/12 cruise it might be working (LOL) I really , REALLY wish we could do that one..and I'm not counting it out!!! :rolleyes1 We priced it last week and it's only gone up about $300 or so, which isn't bad...

Hi Jenn,

Indeed, Nachi was a huge question mark for us. The night before Hope got really sick -- right in front of the Kids Club with Steve and Jeff about to check our three little ones into it -- so she was a "marked girl" by the powers that be. We needed to get a medical clearance for her to get back in after a 24 hour period, even though for her it was clearly an asthma attack, not something viral and contagious. So our Nachi morning was very uncertain. I kept telling Steve he needed to take Skye, he kept telling me no, he'd stay with Hope on the ship because of all the events planned at Nachi and I needed to take Skye. I called Sheri to warn her what was up and she was as cool as a cucumber, bless her heart. Sheri really took charge of the treasure hunt, before and during, so it would have been okay if I hadn't have shown up! And I have to give Jeff and his wonderful wife Missy credit too for being there to help us out when we needed them!

To make a long story short, after a sleepless night with our little brave girl, she woke up with a glint in her eye. We took her down into the bowels of the ship where the doctor's office is; the nurse came out and had her history already (if someone has a child has a pre-existing condition that the Kids Club knows about beforehand, then the Docs office knows about it beforehand too), she talked to us a bit, took her temperature, then gave her a high five and said go have fun. I grilled the nurse about whether or not to take her off the ship and her reply was: "this is a Disney cruise, go have fun!"

By the way, just to set the record straight: the whole reason why over 100 people on our cruise ever went to Nachi was due to your first mentioning it as a possible trip for your family on our Meet Board. Once again, kudos your way. I know that Nachi wasn't completely ideal if you were a teenager wanting some really fun water toys, or if you were an adult wanting a really peaceful and quiet beach (it certainly wasn't that on our day there), but the vast majority of us had simple needs: hang out on a beach with some fun people, let the kids enjoy themselves, and let everyone have some good food and drinks (the latter two were unlimited!). Overall, I thought it was a pretty good day. That said, some people were messed with b/c of lack of paperwork when checking in, some people were wanting to be seated closer to amenities and were given the run-around. But for me, my family got medical clearance to go there and be with everyone so we were thrilled.

Before we got back on the ship, the twins got some great bracelets made especially for them at a store right across from the cruise ship. The person made them right before our very eyes. Skye can never find her name spelled out when we go look for personalized things, so she was very happy to get this from her beach day in Cozumel.

With all this snow around us tonight (no school for my kids), I am pining for some fun in the Caribbean sun. I sure hope the maiden voyagers are having a great time on the Dream. Speaking of cruising, think of her sister ship, Fantasy, and then think 8/25/, 8/25....we'd love to have you join us in 2012!

Beth

A heads-up for everyone reading Jenn's report: can't you tell that she and Ron are awesome cruise people?

Our Halloween Magic cruise was blessed to have them and their kids on board. The Disney Halloween Cruise was my family's first cruise -- and I must say that we are now completely "hooked" on the experience. I knew this would happen long before we actually cruised, thanks to the likes of Jenn and Ron, Ellen aka Podsnel (you have to read her reports and then you'll know why she is priceless), Judy aka TJBaggott (one of the Disigners, MJ (one of the moderator's of the whole gig), Janice aka DisneyCruiser (who kept our meet board rolling along), Sheri aka threeiscrazy (who is anything but crazy) and Jeff aka Pudo (who is now a very close friend) and TONS of other people who were willing to help in a pinch.

oh Beth, I know EXACTLY how you feel. I cruised with Jen on my 1st Disney cruise and have to say she and the others from my meets thread are the same way we have these lasting friends shipships just from talking online over a year. Let alone meeting in person. Ellen and I have never cruised but after reading all her trip reports I already feel like I know her also! I think that is what is so unique about Disney. and especially the DISBoards.. it just brings people together! Ive been on cruisecritics for a carnival cruise were taking and i can barely get 1 word out of people ... no where near as awesome as the DIS is!
