DCL transfer to MCO???

Can someone please explain the process for using the DCL transfer from the port to MCO? We usually drive-so, I have no idea where we need to go after we get off the ship...since we're on Southwest do we get our own luggage and where do we board the buses? Are we assigned a certain bus or do we just get in line? Thanks!

pretty straightforward, once you get out of the terminal you will see where to go. you just check in and they will tell you where to wait /which bus to get on.

you may or may not leave immediately. we were going to WDW and had a Passenger van that fit about 15 total. I ended up sitting in the front seat as we were the last 2 on board. looked to me that the full size buses were heading back to the airport although some of the values had entire buses to their name.

Just returned from a cruise on the Magic (Jan 8-15). We used the onboard check-in, which was great. Our bags were picked up outside our cabin and the next time we saw them was after we landed at our home airport. Pre-printed boarding passes were provided, along with baggage routing tags, the night before embarkation.

However, the bus procedure is pretty easy and straightforward. After clearing customs you walk out to the buses and they load you on the next available bus. You depart as soon as they get the bags and passengers loaded. When you get to MCO, they off-load Terminal A first, then drive to Terminal B. They provide a movie for the kids to watch on the bus - helps them calm down a bit.

DCL transportation port to MCO is $35 per person and includes all luggage handling.

IF you are on a participating airline with a departure during specified times, you are able to put the luggage outside your cabin the last evening and not see it again till you arrive at your home airport. If you do not meet ALL the guidelines for that, you will claim your luggage in the terminal and check it in at the airport.

OK, Southwest. They have been participating with Magical Express (MCO to WDW) for a couple years. In October 2010, they printed in an employee newsletter that they were going to be participating with DCL, but gave no start date. So far, I have not been able to confirm that anyone has been able to use Southwest as a participating airline. It would sure be nice if it would happen!

The price is $35 per person. Unless something has recently changed Southwest is not part of the onboard checkin.

The last night of your cruise, your stateroom host will leave character coded luggage tags in your room. Remember your character, Mickey, Minnie, Donald or whoever. You put this tag on each piece of luggage you plan on not hand carrying off the boat in the morning. You place this tagged luggage in the hall that evening. Don't forget to leave out any clothing you will need in the morning as you will not have access to this luggage until you are off the ship. We wouldn't want to see you disembark in your jammies.

In the morning of disembarcation, you take the rest of your belongs with you to breakfast. You leave the ship and will be directed to the luggage holding area. Remember the character on your luggage tag? This is where you will find your luggage. In the Mickey, Minnie, Donald or whoever area.

You retrieve your luggage go through customs and follow the signs to the DCL buses. They will stow your luggage on this bus for your ride to MCO.

Its $69 roundtrip per person. $35 one-way per person. Baggage handling included. Plus you get to watch a video of what to expect at the port and then a movie or something to keep the kids quiet.

We arrived the day before (to avoid any possible weather delay) and stayed in a hotel near the airport, taking the hotel shuttle to MCO the next morning. We put on our DCL luggage tags prior to returning to MCO and when we got off the hotel shuttle our bags were instantly taken by the DCL porters. The tags have your room number on them and your bags will be delivered to your room sometime in the afternoon. Ours arrived between 3 and 4pm.

I don't know exactly how the system works for the return for those who are not flying on one of the onboard flight registration program. But I did see those who took their bags through customs bring them out to the bus and the driver and CM loaded them on, and then took them off when we got to MCO.

Depending on how many people you have, you may find it more economical to rent a car, turn it in at the port, and get another rental for the return trip to MCO. On the other hand, we enjoyed the lack of hassle - we just got on and off the bus.
