Buying suits vs Hiring suits?

Hi, we are currently debating whether or not to buy or hire suits for DF, my dad, best man and DFs dad. We just want a nice grey suit for each, not the traditional more formal suits. We from the UK and will be in Orlando for 3 weeks so hiring back home will prob be quite costly. Can anyone give me an idea for hire prices in Orlando? Thanks

We are renting grey three piece suiths thur Mens Warhouse. Thery are awsome, you can have grey vest underneath ( we did for the dads and grandfathers), white ( which we did for my groom), or a color (we did clover green for the groomsmen).It cost $175 dollars each, but I had a coupon for $30 off each tux. So thats $145. Plus my groom is a free rental and he gets a free suit of choice under $400 to keep! Hope this helps! You can check out there website to see all the choices and then go to the local store while your in Florida. Or you can get the guys measured at home and call in there measurments and have mens warehouse deliever...thats what we did!

We didn't have a wedding party so it was just my husband that needed a suit. He has pricey tastes so renting a suit would have been very expensive and we would have needed it past the normal rental time bc of our MK pics 2 days later. That would have cost even more.

instead we went to Macy's and bought him a suit. They were having a sale so we got a $300 suit for half price including the shirt and tie and alterations. Now he has a nice suit for special occasions for the same price, maybe less, than what he would have paid by renting it.

We bought suits for DF and his two groomsmen. DF's family is kind of commando with the parks so I knew that waiting around one day for suits wouldn't go over so well (his brother, a groomsman, has squeezed in golf WHENEVER we aren't in a park).

But what really sealed the deal was when I went to a bridal show and received a coupon for "Buy 3 suits, get them all half price". They ended up with $500 suits for $250 each. I joke that for the next 10 years they're going to show up to every wedding and funeral wearing the same thing

We bought DH three suits to pick from. The local men's wearhouse had a sale for buy one get one free, a lot of suit stores here have big deals like that going on all the time.

Then we found him yet another one through RueLaLa, a discount site for designer labels. Now he has a black, gray, and a blue suit to pick from and he also has two pairs of shoes as well (the buy one, get one was for anything in the store).

In our case we went ahead and bought them, because he didn't want a tux, he can use them again for work or other functions, and because he has worn hired tuxes before and they tend to be too baggy and not tailored properly for his figure since there is just so much they can do to make them "custom" since they are rentals after all.

This also takes off a lot of stress on our side, since we don't need to worry about the tux being there, when it arrives, when we return it, if we need to move our MK shoot for some weather reason, it will just be there, in our closet at no extra charge.

We are also buying the suit. I feel like it will be alot less confusing trying to get there 2 days before and then making sure it's there and it fits
It's really not THAT much more when you look at the prices in renting vs. buying, and then you have a suit to wear after the wedding

Also, today my DFs dad has now come up with the crazy idea of buying them whilst we are out there the week before the wedding! To me, who is a bit of a stress head and a worrier, this seems like it could be a lot of stress and hassle, but all his family are like "no that's a great idea!" Any thoughts?

I would buy it ahead of time, a good tailored suit will need to be hemmed at the very least. My DH's suits only needed hemming and one needed to be taken in a bit on the jacket's waist, juuuust a tad.

The whole process at the store took about 2 hours plus a couple of days for alterations, they had quoted us a week, but they were done early since the changes were minimal.

I would bring this up to your DF and tell him that having his suit all taken care of, measured, altered and in a garment bag ready to wear will be a much wiser choice than cutting it too short and then risking surcharges for rushing alterations or not finding what he is looking for at the very last minute when it comes to shoes, tie, and shirt.

Also, before we went on our suit shopping adventure, DH and I read the GQ guide to style that was available at news stands a while back. It really helped us a ton! It is a sort of manual for guys to learn how to dress sharp and stylish. Everybody at the suit stores kept asking to see it and asking where I had got it or if they could keep it.

I would definately do it before. Brian is very tall and slim, and the suit will have to be tailored because his arms are so long. For me, it's just so less stressful to have everything done in advance. I feel like I'm going to be already stressed enough, and having the suit already would be one less thing to worry about

I want to get it sorted before too, I know I'll end up worrying the whole time. His family are quite hard to deal with. Once they get an idea in their heads, especially his dad, they won't listen to anyone else. Man, this wedding planning can be stressful

We've just bought our suits for our wedding. We too are out in the states for three weeks and it was just going to be to expensive to hire them from here in the uk and take them with us. We didn't want to hire them in the states as i think it would be just to stressful in the sense that we are only arriving there a few days before the wedding and knowing our luck they would be the wrong size.

It was quite difficult on finding a style to fit all. My OH is tall and slim where as my dad is tall and a bit chubby so what suited my oh didn't suit my dad. But we got there in the end. Think we paid less than £300 for 2 suits, shirts and ties and 3 travel bags. They were in the sale and quite good quality but it was alot less in cost than what we would of have had to pay if we hired them for that length of time.
