What would you do?

Okay, so I'm in the middle of the mental math game....:confused3 and I figured I'd ask my Dis friends & fellow posters for their thoughts and opinions....

Do we do a 5-day double-dip on the Dream to check out the new interior-rooms with the video portholes, or do we go with a 7-day eastern on the Magic with a SPH? Both work the same for us timing-wise, and the 7-day/Magic would cost $800 more than the 5-day/Dream.

We've enjoyed some 3-day/Wonder cruises, but have not yet been on the Magic (and obviously have not been on the Dream yet either), so it's a balancing between checking out "the new" ship versus the added time on a ship that would still be somewhat "new" to us, as well as getting to take the kids to what we view as some more interesting ports along the way....(okay, offset by my concerns about the ever-present potential for rougher seas on the eastern....:rolleyes1...)

Okay, enough rambling for me, so the question remains.....What would you do?....popcorn::

(Thanks in advance for your input)......pirate:

If you never been on a 7 day cruise, I vote for the Magic....
Sure it would be nice to be on the New Dream, but a 7 day, less $$$, more time with Mickey & the gang....math problem solved....

A+++..... :lmao:

Hope this helps

Robin & Angel "D" :thumbsup2

That is a tough call. I would have jumped to say do the 7 night on the Magic but we just did our 3rd cruise on the Magic and it was not as great as the others we have been on. We still had a good time but just not what we expected based on previous sailings on the Magic. The service was really not up to the quality it had been on our other cruises. Perhaps it is just getting some new crew members acclimated since a lot of the Magic crew has moved on to the Dream, but I'm just not excited about getting on the Magic again anytime soon. We had spring break booked on the Dream (5 night) and actually cancelled it to sail on the 11 day Magic, and honestly I wished I had kept the Dream cruise. Of course others will have their own opinions, but that is mine.

P.S. I do have to say that the Eastern itinerary is fabulous! It is by far our favorite :)

See, that's my quandry...if the 7day was cheaper it'd be a no-brainer for me, but since the 7-day on the "older" ship is $800 more than the 5day on the "newer" ship, I'm balancing the scales.....though I am currently leaning towards the 7-day b/c I like the ports & I have a hunch that even with the rush to go on the new boat that I'll still be able to pick up a 3-day Fla. Res rate for a last minute deal later on this year or next & still make it aboard the Dream, but I'm trying to plan this one as if that were/is not an option....so hence, the back & forth....

I'm kinda pondering the same thing. If I am able to take a cruise this year, I want it to be a DCL one, and I can only really go in the summer. I've only ever been on 7 day cruises, so a shorter cruise seems like it'd be -too- short considering the costs. So do I wait for the 7 days to return, though it won't be on the new ship, or go ahead with a 5 day? Things like a character breakfast aren't that make-it-or-break-it important to me or my family, and as fun as formal nights are, they are also not that important.

Now, if I could afford to fly to Alaska!

Cobbo -
Will you miss the formal night and character breakfast you have on the 7 night? That would seem to be a factor - but saving $800 is a plus too! Good luck with your decision!

I'd vote for the 7 day on the Magic. I like having more days cruising! :cool1:

But to be honest at this point I am not even tempted to book on the Dream. I'm not crazy about a bigger ship with more people. DH and I enjoy the Wonder and Magic because they aren't "big" like other cruise ships. :thumbsup2

I was hesitant to post this same thing! :lmao:

Right now I like what I know, and I know I would like 7 days on the Magic. But people who want to try the new and bigger things might be pulled toward the Dream, even for a shorter cruise.

Either way, you'll have a great time!!
