Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Cruise, Oct 30th,2010 Magical Western NewTR link 4/10

:rotfl2: That's the kind of picture that Denny would take if I asked for a picture in FRONT on the ship.

I love the picture between the two ships - cool!

Ah - pomegranate tequila. I never knew there was such a thing. I would love to try that. That's gonna be my first Ditch drink in May. I love liquor stores - I think all the bottles are so pretty!

The beach and pool look so amazing. Perfect pictures to look at this time of year.

Cool snow pics!

Have fun in St J's!

Great picture of you and the boys in front of the ship:rotfl2: Poor Pods
Looks like you had a great time in Nachi....especially with the swim up bar. I can't believe the prices!! SO CHEAP!! :cool1:
Pomegranate tequila looks so good! I can only imagine that the ritas would be especially flavorful :woohoo: I saw a few bottles like the one my friend brought me back from Mexico....hand painted looking ones :) How were the ritas? All you can drink? :worship: Happy you found Jen....I would have been so lost trying to figure out where I was and what time zone I was in :rotfl:

I asked my Dad once about the deer lying in my yard in the snow..I was concerned they were too cold :rolleyes1 Apparently their hair is hollow and they are very well insulated in the snow :goodvibes

Tracy

The Ritas were good- made with lime juice, not a super sweet mix (which I HATE!!) but they were not very strong. Which was probably a good thing when you were drinking them all day, hanging with your kids! ;)

And that stag really looked comfy in the snow, like he was snuggled in a big, white blankie!

That's the way I like it! An update when I get up in the morning, and another one when I get home from work! :lmao:

Well I guess I really let ya down yesterday, then! :rotfl:

Ah ........ shopping, such a wonderful thing to spend your time with! :thumbsup2 Margaritaville looks awesome! I'm not that fond of the one they have at UO!

I've never been in that one- although now I'm curious...why don't you like it?

And really good purchases in that liquer store! ;) :goodvibes

Can't wait to hear more of your adventures! :flower3:

We'd be thrilled to sail with the gang again. :goodvibes We are considering that date.

It's more likely that we will sail in September or October mainly because the price will most likely be considerably less than the August cruise. Plus we'd have more options as far as available staterooms.

...it would be so much fun to sail with that same Dis crew again. I hope it works out one day.:goodvibes

Ron

Certainly understand about the moolah issue, but we'd LOVE to have you join us on the 8/25 Fantasy cruise b/c the Halloween one was a blast!!!!:)

Beth

It was a really great group of people- I think it's so cool so many of you are cruising together again!!

Yeah they threw us for a loop with that time change stuff!!!

Lollll...not sure that was indeed the smart thing to do, but hey-worked for me!!:lmao:

Awesome....love all the pics, even though they are from the crapcam (probably better than my *good*cam but I'll digress before I get Ron all riled up on the camera deal again. He knows I want a new one.)

Don't you have the same camera as me? Mine is a Canon Rebel xsi.

He was there, but I think he was in the pavilion. Maybe he was taking care of Sarah. Hopefully someone was taking care of her...LOL...;)

The only downfall to Nachi...man those drinks were weak. Seemed like they even watered down the shots. :rotfl2: That was no "Ditch" tequila they were serving us up, that's for sure!

No, it was not any DITCH tequila, but, again, that might have been a good thing!

Yes! In fact I think Disney is the only line that changes its' clocks to match shore time. You do get used to it though. We take an ipod with us and set a clock on it for each, one for ship time and one for shore. You have to watch if you use your phone, since most phones will automatically adjust time based on your location.

OMG, when I read that I was :rotfl2:! I have the BEST story to go with that "never use your cell phone for keeping time on the ship."

A few years ago, we went on a 2 night Cruise to Nowhere on Norwegian Dawn in NYC. We were with a group of 10 adults, and on the first night we were all meeting for dinner at 8:00 at the Italian Restaurant. So, it had been a day that started with us all in a limousine and champagne, followed by more drinks and more drinks, a little nap and then meeting for dinner. Pods & I sat down out side of the restaurant at 8pm to wait for everyone. Did I want a drink? Sure-so Pods & I have a martini at the martini bar right outside of the restaurant. We were STARVING, and we couldn't understand where everyone was! Especially because our friends that we came with are very anal, and ALWAYS EARLY. But we figured maybe they had lost track of time, so we just waited. SO we had ANOTHER martini...OMG, we were sooooooo hungry, and we were sooooooo wasted! Well, we finish the second drink, and we were just so confused as to where our friends were- when they all came walking out of the restaurant. :scared1: :lmao: They were like, "Where were YOU???" We were right HERE- waiting for you! Well...we were going by the time on our cell phones- which had changed to maritime time, even though the ship had NOT changed....so our 8:00 was really 9:00- we were an hour LATE for dinner, and now it was really after 10 pm- we went back into the dining room, and they brought us out some really AWFUL pasta for dinner, because it was all they had left....OMG, we were a MESS!!! Too many drinks all day without enough food, it was DISASTROUS!! :rotfl2:

So yea- I'm pretty sure I'll never use my cell phone to tell time on the ship AGAIN, LOL!!! :lmao:

What really had us messed up on this cruise was that they adjusted the times for Cayman but decided not to for Cozumel.

Ya know, they didn't do that last time- they adjusted for Cozumel, as well. I think that's what made me so confused!

Pssst....you probably have extra space in your stripper room to tag me along if you need an extra alarm clock...just sayin'! ;)

As long as you don't wake us up everyday screaming at your Daddy, you are welcome to tag along!

Okay I totally did not see this going on. LOL. :rotfl2:

They were very funny in that store!

Yeah you guys did your business quick and were gone! Ron was pretty indecisive. They had the buy 3 get one free you know so lots of decision making had to go on.

Yea- I wish I had paid more attention to that- but Pods HATES TO SHOP sooooooooooooooooooooo much, that his whining and complaining about it begins as soon as we walk in the store- so I'm sure I was stressed and just wanted to get out asap.

Ah, I see....it was a mission! That *does* look good!!!

Yeah...what an awesome day! Loved it!!! We must do it again!!! :goodvibes

I really hope we do!!

Of course, Jen's family was there, too, so we did a little picture taking outside first.

IMG_0490.jpg

What a fun pic!

We left before they did, because we had some other shopping we wanted to do-

IMG_0496.jpg

Good one!:thumbsup2

We found it- LOVE this stuff, it makes AMAZING Pomegranate Ritas!

IMG_0035.jpg

That's the same one I bought in PV! Love it! I should have picked some up in Cozumel - Just wasn't in the mood to deal with the airline stuff. How did you pack yours? DS packed mine last time.

We had had a great day- I asked Pods to take our pic in front of the ship-

IMG_0502.jpg

:lmao::lmao::lmao: almost spit my coffee out!

Yea...well, I guess you can see the very front of the hull....:rotfl:

Looks like a fruitful shopping trip. Did Pods get his shirts?

Chankanaab was the place we went for the day. It has been quite a while since we were there & from your photos the place seems to have changed quite a bit.

After raising 4 boys I could tell you some :scared1: tales. They give a mother more than a few grey hairs.

Nachi was about 5 minutes past Chankanaab on the island.

And yea, boys do bring out the grays!!:scared1:

:thumbsup2

While scrolling to post I saw pictures of booze!!! :woohoo: I really try not to read ahead but this might be tough today....

:goodvibes Missing lap top, crappy limo driver, and a smashed finger- you need a day one do-over! Just starting to read about dinner so hopefully no one got food poisoning.

No food poisoning- I think that night we were just happy we got fed at all...:rolleyes1

I am caught up to the ending of OKW day with that gorgeous sunset; dusk is my favorite time of day when along the coast. :cloud9:

I'm pretty sure I mixed up my pics and some of the photos were from a different sunset...OOPS...

Tell me more about the cruise food package- I thought all food was included when on a Disney Cruise? :confused3

Yes- all the food is included, except Palo which is an upcharge of $15, and snacks outside of the theatre before shows (which we never buy). All the rest is included- dinners, lunches, breakfasts, snacks, by the pool, from room service, etc...Actually there are a few things that might cost more from room sevice, they have snack packages or something, I don't even know because I've never ordered them. Mickey Ice Cream bars are free, that's what REALLY matters!:thumbsup2

My honey makes a wild mushroon and Parmesan risotto and serves it with either veal or lamb chops and its to die for. I have a Pavlovian repsonse to risotto. :lovestruc I could marry it. Truly.

That sounds delicious...having a husband that cooks...:rotfl:Jen sounds awesome and what fun she put together for you all! I bet the non DISer offspring were uber jealous! :cool2:

I know I heard Jen turning people away during the ToT- she had to explain it was a private event, not a Disney event.

The food at Topsiders looks good- I would gain 1000 lb with food available 24/7! I guess food is avaibale to me now 24/7 too. :rotfl:

The food was ALL really tasty on the cruise! You have to take the stairs!! My thighs were rock solid by the end of the week! :rotfl:

Love your green clippie streak in your hair- so cute. :thumbsup2

Thanks!

I want the not-fit-to-post news. pirate:

That dude had like 2 cases of empty Coors Light bottles in front of him. :scared1: Fun date. ;)

He said he had help....but I'm not sure I buy that....:rotfl2:

AHHHHH, I remember the warm days on the cruise!!!

Thanks to the continued escape from the BBBBRRRRRRR and SNOW

Hi Bill!! It has been sooooo c-c-c-c-c-cold this week!! I've been spending plenty of time looking at STJ pics in preparation for our upcoming trip next week!! :cool1:

Glad you found your Pomegranite Tequila !!! Loved the you guys in front of the ship too:rotfl2:Good one Pods !!!!

Pods is a very good CPA. Anything artistic (like matching his socks)? Not so much...:lmao:

Well, you REALLy deserve to have a great time then! The people on the cruise work SO HARD- what did you do on the ship? Were you an entertainer? What line? The thing I love most on the Disney Cruise is the CMs- they go out of their way to make sure you are having a great time. It's wonderful to be pampered that way! And thanks AGAIN!

Bahaha - so I worked for NCL a zillion years ago - when I was still thin, blonde and worthy of being continually harassed by the men of all ages that boarded the ship (very annoying part of the job when I was 19, but now I'd be ALL over that). But I do have my DH to ogle me all the time and I appreciate that! But I digress. I was cruise staff, a YC (youth counselor) and I don't think I worked that hard. Weird hours, maybe. They would fly me to a random port, I would board the ship for a week or two at a time and then fly home. I would go out for busy "kid" times - holiday times. Depending on the age of the kids depended on how hard I worked. The preschool age kept you hopping! They were super fun, but really hard work. :rotfl2: The teenagers were the best - I took them to shows, to the midnight buffets, hosted hot tub parties and dj-ed their club nights and then I would dress up for the theme nights and teach everyone the line dances or greet on the gangway on embarkation day. Long hours, but lots of fun.

I have been to Cozumel and hadn't thought I would want to go back, but your Nachi pictures made me rethink that.

What a great job!! You must have a DAZZLING personality (in addition to being THIN) to have gotten it. :thumbsup2 Lucky you!

And I do really like Cozumel- I would love to go back!

Poor Pods....he does make half an effort...

If you do ever see that pom tequila, I would HIGHLY recommend buying it- it's AWESOME!!

And, thanks- I am REALLY looking forward to STJ!! One week from today!! :woohoo:

Looks like a fruitful shopping trip. Did Pods get his shirts?

He got one- shopping with him is a MISERABLE experience, the second it starts, you are praying for it to end...

And the pic he took- I said to him, "Can you see the ship? Because it doesn't look like you are at the right angle..." He said , "Yea, I see the ship."

I MEANT THROUGH THE CAMERA LENS, PODS!!!!! :sad2: :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I think that my little dog Wicket would like that Pom margarita! (He's pomeranian):rotfl: Just had to say that, may be corny, but I couldn't help myself!:woohoo:

I think that my little dog Wicket would like that Pom margarita! (He's pomeranian):rotfl: Just had to say that, may be corny, but I couldn't help myself!:woohoo:

He might also like a Poma Sutra (it's a yummy cocktail they make at a restaurant called Happy Fish where I'll be next Tuesday in STJ)! ( Really it's Pama Sutra, but I don't think anyone minds!) :dogdance:

As we got back on the ship, we noticed a LOT of people were hanging out on their balcomies, both on the Magic and on the Norwegian Dawn (HEY! That's the ship Pods & I had our unfortunate time-travel experience on!! If you don't know what I'm talking about, go back and read my lengthy reply to Nenner1 about why I'll never use a cell phone to tell time aboard a ship again as long as I live!). Anyway....after I had showered and gotten pirate-a-fied, I went out onto my balcony to watch us sailaway from Cozumel.

IMG_0509.jpg

IMG_0510.jpg

Well, I was out there alone (Pods was showering) and the very friendly passengers on the Dawn started yelling to me. How nice of them to keep me company....I was so lonely!! :rotfl2: "How's the ship? Do you like Disney? Where are you going next? WOOHOOOOOO!" You know- the typical conversation you have between balconies of opposite ships.

IMG_0512.jpg

They waved goodbye for a REALLY long time! Or maybe I was the one waving goodbye for a long time....something tells me I wasn't the only one who had a shot of tequila and a few Margaritas in Mexico, if ya know what I mean...:rolleyes1

IMG_0511.jpg

IMG_0515.jpg

So long Mexico!

IMG_0516.jpg

IMG_0517.jpg

Next we were off to dinner- tonight we were dining in Animator's again! Here is the bread, cuban rolls with the spread (is it pigeon peas?)

IMG_0524.jpg

Gabor, the Head Server, was still helping out our table on this night-

IMG_0525.jpg

Tyler tries to figure out tonight's mystery smoothie from Yadira-

IMG_0526.jpg

Both boys were wearing scarves from our FE- I am so sorry i can't remember who gave them, but we loved them! Thank-you!

IMG_0527.jpg

IMG_0529.jpg

Our appetizers came out in a decent amount of time. :thumbsup2Tyler had The Buccaneer’s Sun Ripened Pineapple
Fresh Island Pineapple with a Coconut covered Banana and Orange Glaze

IMG_0530.jpg

Pods decided to try Pearls of the Caribbean
Crabmeat, shrimp and salmon mixed in pearls of couscous with lemon grass infused vinaigrette-

IMG_0531.jpg

And i had Blackbeard’s Jumbo Crab Cake
With a fruit Salsa and Honey-Lime Tropical Coleslaw

IMG_0532.jpg

It was all good, but nothing outstanding. Timmy was skipping the appetizer this evening, and went right to the main event, which is pretty self-explanatory.

IMG_0533.jpg

I believe Pods also ordered a salad-Mr Smee’s Bib Lettuce Salad
With Bibb Lettuce, Baby Greens, Chicory, Tomatoes, Toasted Pine Nuts, and Raspberry Vinaigrette

IMG_0534.jpg

Once again, our food was coming out in a good flow- we really appreciated it. For the main course, Pods & Tyler were trying Jack Sparrow’s Barbecue Marinated Beef Short Ribs
Rubbed beef short ribs with tamarind-barbecue sauce served with onion red bliss mashed potatoes and plantain chip

IMG_0535.jpg

IMG_0536.jpg

I had Captain Hook’s Macadamia Nut-Dusted Mahi Mahi
Jasmine rice and sauteed pineapple on a mild curry sauce and i thought it was REALLY good!

IMG_0538.jpg

I'll have to continue this later- the dinner bell is ringing for me to start cooking....

Ah no fair - half way thru the dinner report and you leave us:rotfl2:

I love pirate night menu - so tasty

looking forward to see what you got for dessertpopcorn::

As I mentioned it before ....... that's the way I like it ........... an update before I go to bed :lmao: and ........... hopefully one, when I get up! :rotfl2:

Thanks Ellen! Great review of Pirate Night. I really love the fun of it, even though we missed the Animator's Palate transformation because of Pirate Night during our first cruise.

Hope you went up on deck to watch the fireworks - my favourite part of the evening, closely followed by the Pirate buffet, now that I have discovered it!

Martinis and Naughty Mud Love? I have to take a Disney Cruise. You have to help me plan it :flower3: Do you use points or pay cash or can you do some of each? With 5 of us our stateroom options would be limited and super spendy I am guessing? Realistically it wouldn't be 2013 or 2014 but it appears from what little I have seen is that they book rather quickly.

I have to take a Disney Cruise! Our friends from here (Utah) are leaving for one next Sunday- Mexico I believe.

Back to reading......:surfweb:

So Michael, my DH just asked what I was doing and I told him reading the best trip report ever but for a Disney Cruise. He said: and so it begins. :rotfl:

You and your family look amazing on fancy schamncy night. :thumbsup2 Love the dress, love the tuxes, fabulous!

Sorry about that! Ok...back to dinner...

IMG_0541.jpg

IMG_0548.jpg

img013.jpg

Out came the dessert menu-

IMG_0550.jpg

And Tyler announced he was full, and going back to Edge. Pods & I were also full, so we skipped dessert, too (I know, I'm SO SORRY!!!! I am especially regretting this right now because I wish I would have tried Pirates of the Caribbean's Sweet Temptations
A trio of Shiver-me-Timbers white chocolate cheesecake , rum barbossa, walk the triple layered chocolate gangplank cake....

.....But I did not. But Timmy is THERE for you guys! Please try to control your excitement.... He had....

Vanilla Ice cream with Sprinkles.

IMG_0552.jpg

:rotfl2: We are the WORST!!! :rotfl2: Just in case you need another shot of vanilla ice cream to satisfy your sweet tooth...

IMG_0554.jpg

And now, for your viewing pleasure, I give you Pirate Pods. ARGHHHHHH!

IMG_0556.jpg

OMG...that pic just cracks me up!! :lmao:

The limbo contest started, and those servers were soooooo into it!! Lucky us, we had the perfect seats at table 75! Too bad we don't know any of these people, but maybe YOU do!!

IMG_0561.jpg

IMG_0562.jpg

IMG_0564.jpg

IMG_0565.jpg

IMG_0566.jpg

IMG_0567.jpg

IMG_0568.jpg

As soon as Tim finished his ice cream, 45 minutes later :rolleyes1 (Timmy is the world's SLOWEST eater), he, too, announced he was going back to Edge.

:scared1:

WHAT???? What about the Pirate Party?? The dancing?? The pilaging?? The plundering?? The fireworks??

MICKEY MOUSE?????????????????????????

He says, "Yea...um, uh...I don't think so."

Don't worry- we still wanted to be pirates (well, at least I did. Pods just kept saying, "But I don't WANNA be a pirate!") :rotfl2:

Aaahhh, Seinfeld. Funniest show ever, the lines never get tired.

Ok, so back to the room for a minute before (although I have no idea WHY...maybe a pit stop?) and we were happy to meet THIS guy- my favorite towel animal of the week-

IMG_0573.jpg

He just has so much personality, doesn't he?

IMG_0574.jpg

I decided to try to be just like him....

IMG_0576.jpg

But I don't think i can pull it off. :rotfl2:

Up next...time to line dance by myself with all the strangers...or will I actually KNOW someone this time? OOOhhhh, the suspense must be KILLING you!!

:cool1: I am caught up baybee!

I love the idea of spending the day in port at an AI resort vs doing a ton if sightseeing but I am a lazy girl who likes to explore the beach, bar, and pool.

The food looks truly delicious and for DH who is a major foodie, this will be an important selling point fa sho!

What are FE gifts? :confused3

How long was your cruise? It seems like you got a good mix of relaxation and party time aside from the kid bellowing in the cabin near yours. :scared1:

That pineapple looks amazing. I am a hooker for a decent piece of grilled/baked pineapple.

Up next...time to line dance by myself with all the strangers...or will I actually KNOW someone this time? OOOhhhh, the suspense must be KILLING you!!

I won't spoil.....but man oh man my fingers are hoverin' ready to jump over at photobucket....;)

Ooooh a dancing Ellen moment again!!! Can't wait!!
Dinner looked like a blast and tasty too! :thumbsup2
I LOVE your pictures of the other cruise ships at night.....the colors on them and the sky are just brilliant! Very postcard like :thumbsup2 Even though they ARE "other" cruise ships they look cool ;)
You must be getting so excited to leave this snow and stupid weather behind!

Tracy

Ah no fair - half way thru the dinner report and you leave us:rotfl2:

I love pirate night menu - so tasty

looking forward to see what you got for dessertpopcorn::

Sorry to leave ya hangin...but look! Timmy gave you vanilla with sprinkles!! Weren't you THRILLED? :rotfl:

As I mentioned it before ....... that's the way I like it ........... an update before I go to bed :lmao: and ........... hopefully one, when I get up! :rotfl2:

Well, I am trying my best to stick to the Austrian clock, but , as you may have read, I'm not so good with time changes...:rotfl:

Thanks Ellen! Great review of Pirate Night. I really love the fun of it, even though we missed the Animator's Palate transformation because of Pirate Night during our first cruise.

That's another one of the benefits of a 7 night- you get 2 nights (at least) in each restaurant- the show night, and then one of the "special" nights. I never realized that if you were in AP for a "special" night, you would miss one of the shows on the Bahamas cruises.

Hope you went up on deck to watch the fireworks - my favourite part of the evening, closely followed by the Pirate buffet, now that I have discovered it!

Well, just because I can't find dessert doesn't mean I can't find the fireworks!! :rotfl:

Martinis and Naughty Mud Love? I have to take a Disney Cruise. You have to help me plan it :flower3: Do you use points or pay cash or can you do some of each? With 5 of us our stateroom options would be limited and super spendy I am guessing? Realistically it wouldn't be 2013 or 2014 but it appears from what little I have seen is that they book rather quickly.

Oh you soooooo have to take a Disney Cruise, and i will be soooo happy to help you with whatever you need! :goodvibes This time we paid cash, because when you rebook onboard, you get a break on the deposit AND they take 10% off....but the first time, we used points- for Pods & I, and then paid cash for T&T, so yes, you can mix it up- you just have to book the whole thing through DVC MS. We have booked again, on board on cash, but with a dummy date, because we can't cruise again until 2013 probably. BUT....if we had wanted to rebook onboard using points, we would have paid the cash deposit, and then they give you like 3 or 4 days to call DVC and then you get the discount on the points, too. :thumbsup2. Some book fast, others not...it really depends on when you're going. And soon there will be 4 ships instead of just 2...so that's going to be a BIG change. :woohoo:

I have to take a Disney Cruise! Our friends from here (Utah) are leaving for one next Sunday- Mexico I believe.

I would love that cruise- a few days at DL, and a Mexican cruise on the Wonder...WOOHOO!!!

Back to reading......:surfweb:

OOH that crabcake looked sooo good !!!!!! Loved the boys headgear!!!!

Hi Rosie! It was a good crabcake- my dinner was very yummy, though! I really hope you get to do a cruise one day!!
