I'm looking for a little bit of feedback here. Ever since we started planning our VR, having Mickey (and possibly Minnie) come to the cake-cutting and take pictures with our group has been part of the plan.
As our plans have evolved, we are ending up with a morning Epcot ceremony and then a dinner there in the evening during Illuminations. Our planner has said that characters cannot come out in Epcot 'til after every day guest has left the park, and that's often not 'til 11 p.m.! So if we want to have character(s), we'd have to do it at the breakfast we're planning for after the ceremony.
Originally we thought we'd just have a group breakfast at a resort restaurant (not through DFTW), but when we realized that would be our only chance to have a character, we thought we should do a private catered space and have the cake after breakfast rather than at dinner.
Of course, by doing something private and catered, the cost over a regular restaurant meal increases substantially. So now I'm thinking it's irresponsible to spend so much money really unnecessarily, just to have a character come to the cake-cutting (we're not doing dancing or anything else that's really reception-ish ... just meals basically for breakfast and dinner).
I'd appreciate knowing what others would do in this situation.
