Best Downtown Disney Resort

After looking at the pricing and amenities of the on site Disney hotels, I think we are better off staying at an off site hotel for right now. Anyways, we will be traveling with a just turned 4 year old and 1 year old. We are looking for hotel priced under $150. Thanks.

We stayed at the Hilton for 1 night last year and loved it. We got the room for $99 with AAA. It's the closest hotel to DTD (it's right across the street from Marketplace entrance, a 5 minute walk) and they offer transportation to the parks.

I would definitely recommend it. Rooms are newly redone, beds are really nice and the pillows were some of the best hotel pillows I've had.

We're doing a mini four night / three day stay at a Downtown Disney resort. After doing quite a bit of research and review reading, we decided on the newly remodeled Holiday Inn Lake Buena Vista. Here's a link to reviews of that property on TripAdvisor (excellent reviews).

Tripadvisor is also a great place to read up about all the Downtown Disney hotels. Here's a link that gets you to the 16 Lake Buena Vista area properties, which includes all of the DD ones.

Also, if you are looking for a Bargain there are some great deals on Travelzoo right now for three of the Downtown Disney properties -- not the ones PP and I mentioned, but three other ones.

Thanks so much!! It becomes a bit overwhelming, well the research does. I have been one time since I was 5 and it wasn't planned like this trip will be. Thanks again!

WE love Lake Buena Vista Best Western. Very clean. 10 min leisurely walk to DTD via a sidewalk. Very peaceful place. We recommend it to everything.

Depending on the time of year an onsite Value resort will be under $150 and perhaps a moderate (given the specials that are going on right now). Have you given that any thought?

We have stayed @ the Regal Sun (when it was The Grosvenor) and liked it! Very reasonable and a quick walk to DD!

We have but my husband was not fond of the size of the room. I realize some of the DTD resorts might have a small room, but he felt the value ones were too small. I have never been to one though. Can anyone comment on the size of the room?

Sorry no one answered you!
The value resorts *are* very small. They have full beds, which is fine for one adult and a small child, but it gets cramped in there with 3 full size adults. We never spent much time in the room anyways except for sleeping so it worked out well.
The rooms themselves are themed very nicely and I really enjoyed going when I was younger (and smaller). The themed pools are super fun and they have statues/figures all over the property for photo ops. The food courts are large and can accomodate many people and tastes. It's pretty standard Disney food, but it's convenient.

Of course, that's also when the value rooms were 80 dollars a night, max.
Next month we are staying at the Best Western in downtown disney, so I could give you an update on that resort and the area/convenience when I get back?

When we drive we usually spend the first night at the Buena Vista Palace and Spa before checking in the next day at the BC.

It's a very nice hotel, good sized rooms, nice pool, etc. It is a very short walk to DTD.

HTH.

Hi how was your stay at the BW DTD???

We stayed at the Hilton across from DTD a few years ago and loved it! Room was very clean and modern, great view, quiet, and convenient to DTD. We probably would have stayed there again this year, but we thought the free dining would actually save us and we took advantage of it in September and are staying at POFQ.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn about a year & a half ago, and it was quite nice & very reasonable. Easy walk to DTD, even with a whiny 6-year-old. If I were staying in the area again, I'd also take a look at the Hilton. I would think if you can find a great rate at either one of those, you'd be fine.

I would suggest the Downtown Disney Hilton. You should definitely be able to get a room for under $150.00. It's very convenient still being on Disney property.

The best thing about it is you get the Extra Magic Hours when you stay there and they have character breakfasts!

Have fun!

It was small, but not overly so, and we weren't uncomfortable by any means at POP. It was myself, DH and our almost 4 year old DD.

We stayed at the DTD Hilton. Loved the hotel and pool area. The rooms are large and have very comfortable beds. The hotel food was very expensive. Mousesavers occasionally has deals for the Hilton. Also, like them on facebook and occasionally a special will come up. At one point last yr there was a special for 87.00 during June. You get early and late entry into the parks. The bus service is great to the parks. We parked our car and used the transit system.
