Has anyone just used the 2 hours DPS photography included? How tight was it time wise? Was it literally enough time to get you through to the end of the cake ceremony and some posed pics with guests or was there still a bit of time at the end for some photos in the resort area? e.g. Along boardwalk, in the gf etc

Hi
We had the 2 hours package and felt it was plenty of time. Our ceremony was half past two but our photographers took photos before of both me and my husband, separately of course! After the ceremony we had the cake cutting, family photos then we stayed with the photographers and stopped at loads of locations along the boardwalk. We ended up with nearly 400 photos but did upgrade to include an extra photographer. Never felt rushed at all and we were asked at the end if there were any other shots that we wanted.

We extended ours to 3 hours to cover some of our reception, but looking back now, it probably wasn't really needed. I think 2 hours is more than enough to get the ceremony, cake cutting and portraits :thumbsup2

That's really good to know. We are getting married at sbp in June, so having some shots with the boardwalk in the background will be great. Thank you

I love this blog... my fiance and I were just discussing this. Thanks for the help ladies!

I was wondering about that too. How much does an extra photographer cost?

We're having our VR on 4/13/11 at the WP. Our original wedding photos were crappy :sad2: so we want to have decent/great photos for the VR. We've been debating about hiring an outside photographer or just going with Disney.

Our options for photographers was a little different as we are fro the UK, I honestly don't think for us that it would of been worth having an outside photographer too. I'm so happy with all of the photos that we have:goodvibes

For our Escape we upgraded to have an additional photographer (the photojournalism package) and an additional hour. I photojournalistic add on was $400, and the extra hour was $200. I would highly recommend the photojournalistic add on if you want extra photography, and only do the extension if you really, really feel you need it.

hmmm, i initially thought of an extra hour but the journalistic add on has made me think a little! Its more money but may get different types of shots. This is a head scratcher!

When I got my pictures back, it was really obvious to me which pictures were done photojournalistic and which were "regular" (I guess it is called traditional). I can post a few when I get home, if that will help you, to show the difference.

I also got really lucky, in that I ended up having the extra photographer for everything I booked, so I had both for my AK bridal portraits in the morning, both for the ceremony and portraits, and both for my extended reception coverage.

thanks! that really helps us too esp the UK bride comment as i am one too. One of the guests is an amateur photographer so im sure he will take good shots too.

I'd be happy to try and answer any other questions that you have! I think UK brides get such a good deal getting the disc included, I've made up a album and got all my prints from snapfish. :)

Thank you both for your thoughts and reply. I may have to talk to DH about this. I've been thinking about the photojournalist idea (in addition to the traditional photos).

If anyone has pictures of their photojournalistic photos they would like to share - I'd love to see them. I'm more of a visual type and need to see the difference between photojournalistic and traditional. Though I'm pretty sure I know what "traditional" is. :) Thanks!!

I'm sorry, I said I would post some and totally forgot. I will try and remember when I go home today!

We had an Escape wedding a few weeks ago in early December. We hired Randy Chapman as our main photographer and since photography comes with the Escape package we were able to use the Disney photographer as our photo-journalistic photographer before, during and after the ceremony.

We had Daryn and we really liked him. He was friendly and I think he captured somethings that Randy couldn't, like when my dad and I were waiting behind the doors to walk out into the wedding pavilion. I liked his work.

Here are my pictures that I am pretty certain were from the photojournalist photographer. The way I can tell is that they seem to have different angles and more candid moments, while the "traditional" photographer is more straight on. The second photographer also allowed us to get some random fun shots, which are some of my favourite:

A few fun shots while the girls were busy:

Special effects, not in the traditional photos:

I just noticed that I only really added the more photo journalistic style to photobucket, so I don't really have a lot to compare them too on here, but I think the way I explained it makes sense.

I would say that if my wedding wasn't in the park, I would have just hired an outside photographer to do photojournalist shots the way I wanted them. We had David and Vicki Arndt for our "Trash the Dress" pictures, and while I really like my DPS pics, I LOVE the ones from David and Vicki. Their prices are also way better :thumbsup2
