Height limit on Aqua Duck

Does anyone know the reason for height restriction on Aqua Duck? Disney waterparks two person raft rides have no height limits. :confused3

Yes, I'd like to know why too. My 4 y/o really wants to go and I don't understand why she couldn't as long as i ride with her.

From an AP story: The height requirement of the Disney's Aqua Duck Ride is 48" or taller. The Disney's Aqua Duck Ride's entrance is on Deck 12 Aft which is the highest part of the ship. Riders will then board an inflatable raft for two and begin the ride of a lifetime.

My 3 3/4 year old isn't even close. Poor guy! He is such a shorty - probably won't be tall enough for the Mickey Slide even!

Is it for sure that kids under 48" tall can't ride even with an adult??

Rider Safety the uphill thrusters are very powerful and can and will blow little persons off their rafts and cause them a great deal of harm - seen it happen on Crush and Gusher at TLWP - not a pretty site and then the ride has to be closed down for inspection and any areas that have blood spots have to be cleaned and disinfected. Shuts the ride down for an hour at least. Disney is going with safety in mind to protect its Aqua Duct riders and for the enjoyment of all passengers. Reports have stated that the Aqua Duct flows 10,000 gallons of water a minute - folks that is a lot of water for a person to overcome if they fall off of or get blown off thier raft.

Ahh it's hard when they are shorties :( We cruise on the Dream in a few weeks. My twins are EIGHT and are under 48 inches (although getting closer). At least they are old enough I can explain that it's a safety thing and they can understand the why part of it.

We are still hoping for a growth spurt though!

I'm sure that there will be some Aqua Duck delays due to parents who will inevitably argue that THEIR child should go on no matter what the height limit is!

We don't sale until July, so our DD has a few months to gain that extra inch. :thumbsup2

I wish I was a dare devil so I can go on it. It sounds so fun and scary at the same time

We've never had a problem with being too short. My DD was almost too tall for the Mickey slide at 11. Now at 13, she doesn't stand a chance. Good thing she's got the aquaduck!!

Does anyone knw if there is a weight limit? I am not a small man.:sulley:

I have heard nothing of a max weight limit, anywhere, and I have been looking, as I am not exactly a small woman.

As for minimum height requirements, I would hazard a guess to believe that its an easy way to mitigate the dangers of flipping out of a raft. Water coasters need a certain amount of weight in the tube to be able to carry the tube uphill, instead of the tube just skimming across the top of the water jet and not going uphill. My guess is that Xpercent of the population at Y height fall within Z weight range..... A small child could VERY easily flip out of a tube.... and based on the sheer volume of water moving at any given moment in time, there is not good odds that a child would remain uninjured. Think about rides like "flo rider" on wichever cruise ship it is..... That water is flowing at a slower rate than the water on the Aqua Duck

The Flowrider on RCI had a height minimum too for safety reasons I'm sure...I can't imagine how fast the water on the Aqua Duck must be, the Flowrider was really strong. I rode it, and got a facefull, cleaned out my sinuses all the way to my brain I think! LOL My family can't wait to try it out, I don't think our youngest will be tall enough, she's a tiny thing. I'm sure it won't bother her, she's not all that brave. Is there a height min/max on the Mickey Slide? She just might be brave enough for that.

When the ride ends there is a landing pool. It needs to be deep enough so you don't get hurt at the end of the ride. A small one would not be tall enough to stand up and have their face above the water line.

Also to keep the number per hour up as well a older/taller child will leave that area much quicker.

I would assume it's the same. As other's have posted, the limit was set for the child's safety. They don't change the height limits at Typhoon Lagoon based on "who is riding with child" so...
