Travel Insurance, Disney or other

I am going to need to purchase some insurance for our trip, and I am just assuming at this point I will be going through Disney. I will be buying it right before I pay my balance in full. I do need a pre-exsiting clause to be covered in it, and I do know that Disney will not cover that, but will give me a credit towards another cruise, which would be just fine. But is there anyone else who would cover us affordablely and cover pre-exsiting conditions so near to the PIF date of the cruise.

I also need coverage for a prexisiting condition with my daughter, I called Access America who does Disney Insurance and they have something called Access America Classic that does cover prexisting conditions. I have no idea how much it is didn't get into that much detail yet. Also with Disney insurance it is only considered prexisting if they have been treated in the previous 60 days, is what I was told. Not sure if that is true or not. Good luck and post with what you find.

Some of the insurance companies count from the 1st payment that you make, not your PIF date, for the pre-existing condition coverage, so check on that.

We got ours through Trip Insurance Store .com (no spaces)--you can also call them on the phone, and they will walk you through the different plans they offer. They are very helpful if you have specific questions/issues that you are concerned with.

Insurance bought thru DCL does not cover any pre-existing conditions.

When buying privately, most companies require that you either buy within a specific time after booking (usually 14 or 21 days) or pay a surcharge to cover pre-existings. You can compare policies from different companies at insuremytrip.com

Yes, I do know that Disney will not cover a pre-exsiting condition, but if that is the reason we have to cancel, after our claim is denied, they will give us a raincheck though.

Try http://www.insuremytrip.com . I have cancer, so I needed to make sure I could cancel the cruise if I needed treatment, and they had a plan which included pre-existing conditions. They do have time limitations on when you get it, though, so I would check soon.

 to you and your situation. Yes, I know about insure my trip. Used them many times. And I know that almost all policies that will cover pre-exsisting conditions require that you purchase them two weeks after the first payment date on the trip. Some may be different, but I think they are even more exspensive than Disney. I have always purchased my trip insurance within the first two weeks of payment, but did'nt this time as we were and are still not 100% sure we will go.

There are several (not all) policies from CSA as well as HTH Worldwide that include the waiver of pre-existing conditions - as long as the insurance is purchased within 24 hours of making the final payment. My opinion of DCL is that coverages are low and the price is high for what you get.

It does look as if insuremytrip.com may a policy for 20 bucks less than Disney that includes a Pre-exsisiting waiver in it. Through Travel Guard chartis or somthing. They have a A rating. I will probably look into it. Not much cheaper, but I bet the coverage is much better.

Many policies have a waiver of pre-existing conditions...IF purchased within a specific time period after making the initial trip payment. As I mentioned above, I know of only a few companies that offer the waiver right up until final payment is made.

I did put in my date as to my first trip payment and then I selected the pre-exisiting wavier condition for narrowing it down, and it went from like 30 policies to four maybe. So I think I was doing it correctly?

Read the fine print for each policy about the waiver, and it will tell you when the insurance has to be purchased.

It does sound like you do need to read the fine print. I wish you luck.

I do know that some travel agents have washed their hands of travel insurance, and no longer sell it because of customer complaints about all the companies not honoring what they promised.

I would defanitly be talking to an agent with them before I bought the quote, and thats the one thing about Disney that I like, I know that if I am denied by the insurance company, (which is what they are in the buisness to do) I will get a credit towards another cruise. I feel like it has more of a safety net. I am going to also email my TA with this later on and ask her professional opinion.

I have used Travelex for myself and my clients in the past, and been happy with them. They have a policy that will cover pre-existing conditions. Google them, and you can find good descriptions of the policies and purchase on their website.
