hmmm...not totally set, just throwing it out....we are 2 adults and 2 kids 9 & 11.....

we ARE DRIVING FROM nh....NO stopping except to pee and get gas lol....we drive straight through....we pack food.... gas we usually stop 2-4 times at 50.00 every time..

Hotel when we get to the Port is 70.00 for the night, plus 20.00 TOTAL to park /leave our car there for week ( CI& S) . ( the port is charging 20.00 PER NIGHT starting jan 1)

Cruise was $4600.00 for a dungeon room ( 10b GTY) for a western 7 night.

we have a 250.00 ON B Credit which i am going to palo for brunch- 20.00 per person and i booked Bikes on CC ( 6.00 per hour i think)

so we will still have @ 190.00 OBC to use on misc stuff...

we dont drink and dont play Bingo....

Misc junk for the kids will eat that up.....lol.........

excursions- i think its 100.00 cash for 1 on grand cayman ( snorkel)

and the other excusion is 50.00 for Cozumel.

The suggested tip amount is $12 per person per day. On a 3-night cruise for 4 people, that's $48 per day or $144.

**Now that I'm rereading this, I guess you are allowing $40 out-of-pocket for tips in addition to the $125 OBC.

I don't have a budget yet since I'm just planning my first cruise; but seeing others helps to get an idea...

No, that was my tips for the four positions. And yes you are right and just so happens I was looking a cruise tip calculator and found out that I was wrong like five minutes ago.

Oh thats great. I have'nt gotten to do to much planning so far, but I have a week and a half off work, so I have some major budgeting to do.

What are you driving down in, a tank? We have a Suburban which gets crappy mileage and I could drive round trip between Orlando and Chicago for $400. You're only in Georgia.

$425 for Port Activities seems high. A 3 day cruise only stops in Nassau and Castaway Cay. Don't need to spend much at all at Castaway Cay to have a great time and probably not worth getting off the boat in Nassau, let alone dumping a few hundred dollars there.

$320 for Souvenirs is pretty generous as well. We usually get by on far less, but $75 per person is a nice amount.

Can probably do better than $140 for insurance. Try TravelEx.

Tolls from WDW to Terminal $20.00 ($10.00 each way In reality I think it's about $6.00)
Parking at Port Canaveral: $15.00 per day (you now pay at the end of your cruise, tuck the cash in your glove compartment or somewhere else to make sure you have it)
$1.00 per bag that the curbside porter takes for you (wanna make sure it get's on the ship)
$100.00 per person per port (covers, excursions or taxi or souviners)
$200.00 DCL Souviners (Covers my souviner and anything that I need to bring back home for gifts)
$200 Onboard misc. beverages, wine tasting, bingo, ect
Gratuties (I always pre-pay mine so I don't count that as part of my actual budget, and give a little extra as needed)

This may seem a bit $ $ $ but keep in mind I live in Central Florida so I don't have the expense of hotel/airfare and I usually get a Florida Resident Discount on the cruise.

I do believe you are right about the gas. I think I am overbudgeting on that one. Maybe 300 bucks at most.:thumbsup2 We are in north Georgia, our county borders Tennessee. Hey how many miles a gallon does a Suburban get, I think thats what we may drive?

We are going to Atlantis, once in a lifetime thing.

Insurance, I am looking at Disney, but will be looking elsewhere to.:thumbsup2

I think I might be down $120 now. :)

If you're looking to cut costs, you can ...

1. Check out www.insuremytrip.com. I think they'll have a lot more competitive price than $140.
2. I'm assuming the $300 food includes alcohol? If so, you can bring your own wine/liquor onboard and take a glass to the restaurants with you for no charge. I saw a lot folks doing that on our cruise.
3. Souvenirs - the kids will usually make a lot of arts/crafts onboard. My DS got a Goofy Slumber Party pillowcase that he was able to decorate. Also, you can bring your own pillowcase/picture frame/t-shirt and leave it w/ customer service on 1st day to be signed by your/your kids' favorite characters. Also, if you join your cruise FE, I can assure you you'll not need any more souvenirs.
4. Port activities - these aren't absolutely necessary, either. You can always just get out and about on your own without having to go through a tour.

Hopfully this will get you closer to your budget.

Good luck!

Ya, I am going to check around on the insurance thing, its just that we have to have coverage for pre-exsiting conditions. I already have a thread on this but I have'nt checked it. I know that Disney will not cover pre-exsisting conditions, but they will give you a "raincheck" on another cruise if something were to happen for your amount. Right? I think that is what I read. Wow, I did'nt think I would get this many suggestions!! I hope this thread helps others as well.

Yes. My TA checked during processing the final payment and if the insurance company denies the charge, DCL will give credit on a future cruise.
