Cape Canaveral Hotels ???

We are planning on staying in a Cape Canaveral hotel the night prior to our cruise. Never have done this prior. Can anyone share what hotel they have used that was a great place to stay rather close to the ships/pier and had a free shuttle as well. We are a family of 6 (3 adults and 3 kids).

I just booked at the country suites and inn because we are a family of five. I got a suite, I paid 175.00 for it. after looking at the boards it seems I may be paying to much. I emailed the manager about parking and transfers and he added them to my res. for no extra charge. I have never done priceline before but I am sure you will hear from other that have. Ihave heard that this hotel is nice and very close to the port. good luck

My DH, DSIL, DNiece and I all stayed at the Country Inn before our cruise last September. It was a great choice as the rooms were very nice and clean. We shared a room with 2 queen beds, and there was enough room for all 4 of us (all adults). The breakfast in the morning was a nice addition as well. We took advantage of the shuttle both to and from the Port, and it worked out great. We are cruising again next year and will more than likely stay there again.

I would say book in at Country Inn & Suites [ C I & S ] at the port , It would be safe to say it is one of the cleaness ,nices hotel you could stay at, the people that work there will go out-of-their way to make you feel at home. THE PLACE IS TOP SHELF........what else you want to know......price, its costing us w/ park & cruise package for 3-A's in May $ 143.00. And remember the port parking is going up to $20.00 per day in 2011. HAPPY SAILING.

My family of 5 (all adults) stayed in a 2-bedroom suite at the Residence Inn in Cape Canaveral (next door to Country Inn & Suites). My were visiting my mom just a few miles down the road, but needed more space. The Residence Inn was very nice, and the breakfast was great. I would definitely stay there again if I were traveling with my family.

Priceline only guarantees bedding for 2 so it's not a good idea for families. For this reason, we only use Hotwire for that type of booking.

We're not new to DCL but usually have a late flight in so we stay near MCO. Next time we'll be staying at CI&S. They have a bunk bed suite that looks perfect for us and I like the free breakfast too.

We stayed (two people) at the Country Inn in October prior to sailing. I booked through Priceline, and that did NOT include the additional $20 for parking while cruising and the shuttle. This hotel was clean, comfortable, and spacious (could easily have fit 2 adults and 3 children in our room). It was not quiet, nor were the staff particularly friendly (at least to us). The shuttle staff were actually lovely- really helpful and friendly. They made getting to the port very easy. I did not find breakfast particularly appetizing, but I'm picky that way. They would certainly have something for everyone (including me). I would stay here again if the the price was best, but I might try someplace else next time. I think the rate I got on Priceline was $70 per night.

Some of the hotels near the port have free shuttle, some have free parking, some have free breakfast, some have all 3. You said that you need a free shuttle but didn't mention parking--will you have a rental (in which case you can use the rental car shuttle when you return the car) or do you also need free cruise parking?

If you are doing a 7 night cruise, the hotel cost is generally equal to or nearly equal to the cost of port parking! (charged by Port Authority, not DCL!)

The closest, nicest are the Residence Inn by Mariott, the Country Inn and Suites, and the Radisson. Radisson allows free parking without purchasing the cruise package, but charges for breakfast.

Another possibility is the Quality Inn and Suites (sister hotel to the Radisson)...if you stay here you will ride the Radisson shuttle to the cruise terminal. If you have a car, you will drive to the Radisson and park there; if you don't have a vehicle they will arrange transportation to the Radisson for you. The breakfast here was free, but really not very good. It was enough to hold the kids till you get to the ship.

When you say it wasn't quiet, how noisy are we talking? Footsteps thumping on the floor above, doors slamming, people outside the door?

How long ago did you buy it on Priceline? I went up to $62 and gave up. I have a whirpool suite for $70 with Friends & Family code.

Figure any hotel that has "Disney guests" will have loud kids being rasied by parents who do NOT realize that the hallway is NOT a playground and that the other guests don't think the RUNNING and SCREAMING Darling is doing is not that cute!

2 yrs ago, DCL cruisers could put their bags outside their doors to be picked up and taken to port. Almost every room had DCL tagged luggage outside of it. (now they are left inside the room so the # of cruisers is not obvious.)

No running or screaming. Those are both pet peeves of mine, esp being loud indoors so I def would have remembered it.

Whether you see this on the cruise or not will depend on the parents on your cruise date. We've rarely had issues, but there were a few memorable cruises...a call to guest services is helpful, but it's really the responsibility of the parents.

It will happen! I had it happen just a few months ago. I was at the Hyatt for a business meeting and "junior" ran screaming up and down the hall several times at 7 AM

(Junior was so noisy security was called by someone, not me, but I saw him in the hall patrolling for the brat!)
