:dance3:I would love your help with tips... I write at Meet The Magic and would love to hear your favorite tips for upcoming articles. I mostly write about experiences I have in the parks but would love to try new things/different ways to experience things.

Thanks!

My tip would be..... If your on a dining plan I'm always stuffed and can't eat my dessert right way so I ask for it to go and I ask for a fork. I eat my dessert for breakfast! Who says you can't have apple pie and Brownies for breakfast your on vacation!

Tip 2 have a rain poncho for Kali Rapids!!!

Eat at O' Hanas at in the Polynesian Resort. Move in and out of the park at noon and back in at 5 more making the most and getting around.

Stop and look around every part of the parkhad some thought in it. From the names on the second floor on main street(?) , the passing of the deed in Winnie the pooh, the tree in liberty square

The absolute favorite and most helpful tip I ever received (from these boards of course), was to use Body Glide on my feet every morning before putting on my shoes and hitting the parks to avoid blisters. My skin is sensitive and before that tip, I had never made it through a WDW trip without at least one blister, and usually more than one. Now I have made it through 4 WDW trips and one DL trip, without even one blister!!!! I also now use it when I get a pair of new shoes, which ALWAYS gave me blisters before, and it is great for that too. Probably not the kind of tip you are looking for, but it is the one that has saved me pain and helped me the most!

Most of us here know a little planning goes a long way. If your article gets read by someone out there planning their first trip maybe they will realize that they need to do a little planning.

I've heard of people that they figure that once they make their resevations through Disney that then they are all set and they'll have a great time once they get to Disney!

The minmum plan is, what Park on what day of your trip.

My top tips.....

We plan our ADR's in the park we plan on being at all day - so no hoppers are required. We eat our breakfasts in the room so we can get to the park early. We find if we have an ADR for breakfast at 8-9 am we end up missing some important park time and the fast-pass return time is usually a few hours away. Plus, if we eat a big breakfast it slows us down from doing some of the more thrilling rides.

Fastpasses can be used later in the day (after your return time) - so don't panic about being there right on time - so this allows you to plan out the rides you want for later in the day.

Plan what park you want to visit on each day - then decide on the top 4-5 rides or shows you want to see - you'll never get to experience all the rides - so might as well hit the ones you absolutely want to ride - everything else is gravy.

Experience some of the Resort Restaurants instead of eating all your meals in the parks - even without a Hopper pass you can still return to the same park in the same day.

Commando style touring can wear you out in a few days - plan on at least 1 day off in between to unwind and relax - perhaps some time at the resort pool, downtown disney or even the water parks.

I'm sure I could go on for hours - these are the ones that come to mind right away.

My opinion on best tip is this: learn what works best for you and your family. The first time we went was a dance competion and didnt have a say about things, but the second time we tried to do the early morning xtra magic hours and then switched parks to do the late xtra magic hours. My youngest DD was as grouchy as a bear and I thought we were gonna kill her before we got home. We are a late night family, late risers. We totally skip the morning thing, sleep late get a bite to eat and then head to the park that is having the late xtra magic hours. So much better. Of course dont forget that if you want to ride a popular ride that day and it has a fast pass, you still have to get in time to get a fast pass before they run out.

Where do you find Body Glide? Also, what's mole skin?

For us the second best tip was to go to the park opening. Leave at lunch and TAKE A NAP! Then go back at supper feeling totally refreshed and stay til close!

Our #1 Tip: DON'T Try to do everything! You can't.

Early am ADR for Crystal Palace for our MK day on a non-early EMH day. The times generally start about an hour before opening. When they're moving good with the characters, you get in, have breakfast, meet and greet all the characters and are out and about by rope drop. BUT, you are up next to the castle and not back at the beginning of Main Street.

Next step is head straight for Dumbo! This is when the line is the shortest.

My top tip, which is really easy for my family as we are a group of early risers is to get to the park at opening each and every day.

Then when you find your interest or energy flagging, if it does, move on, back to the hotel, or another park...or whatever. It is amazing what can be accomplished in the first 2 hours before the crowds arrive.

My second tip is much more mundane. Pack a pair of scissors...I usually bring just a pair of kid scissors in my checked luggage. I find I need them at least 3 or 4 times during the trip. Take of tags, trim moleskin, open a new toy package, cut open a travel shampoo.

There is a lot of walking at Disney!

I tell friends to be prepared to walk ,3-5 maybe as much as 10 miles in one day. Make sure that your shoes are broken in before going!

Here is my tip for a family on a tight budget. There are enticing things for sale everywhere you turn in Disney World. Money can flow like water if you're not careful. Here's what we do on each trip...

If our girls see something they want, we take a picture of it on Daddy's cell phone. On the last visit to that particular park, we look through the pictures at the end of the day and decide what item they want the most. It works tremendously well, and at the end of our trip, we've stuck to the budget to the penny, never use the credit card, and have the absolute time of our lives! Both girls get a few toys and trinkets that they still love and play with.

This also works well to cut down on the whining and begging. Our girls have been firmly trained that this is the rule, and no whining or begging will change the rule. They now see something they want and immediately say, "Daddy take a picture of that for me!"

A co-worker of mine went to Disney last year and called me from his cell to answer a work question. He was lamenting that his kids began whining and crying for stuff immediately upon entry into the park. I gave him my little tip, and it worked great.

Great tips. Subbing to this thread.

My tip (and I haven't even been to WDW yet...39 days to go :yay:)...get training for all that walking. We gave our 2 DD the trip to the world for Xmas. I told them that part of the deal is we have to walk every day until our trip. It's not how fast we go but how long we go for. To entice them (like the trip isn't enticing enough  ha!ha!) I said I wold give them each a $1 a walk each towards spending money. So far, I haven't had to ask them to go. They are waiting for me with their shoes on. :thumbsup2

Also, read the DIS boards. You'll learn a lot. I went from not even knowing there were 4 parks to being able to decipher the Disney speak acronyms!:woohoo:

You are on vacation, so don't plan every single solitary second of the trip out, doing so will only lead to a lot of un needed stress when you are supposed to be having a fun time.

my tip is

if you have trouble saving for your trip then purchase disney gift cards... they can be found in most grocery stores/walgreens and can be ordered online

they can be used for anything from paying for your trip reservation to paying for food / souvies / or park tickets

this way I can only use the gift cards at wdw or in the disney store and since I dont have extra cash laying around in a bank of some kind im not tempted to spend it before my trip

this has worked great for me for several trips now and am currently doing this to save for a trip in august

I'm not sure if this was said already but, buy water and have it shipped to your resort. We buy at least two cases from Costco and they ship free. Water is the one thing I won't buy in the parks.
