I have a Disney Reward card that expires Dec 2010. I am going on the Magic 12/29-1/3. Can I put my rewards dollars on the card I have now and and pay for things on the cruise 12/19, 12/30 and 12/31. Or do I have to pay for everything at the end of the cruise?

You should be able to call them with your Rewards Card number and have it applied to your account as an OBC (on-board credit). I know you can do that in advance of your sailing with a credit card, so I would think that they could also do it with a rewards card.

You can give the rewards card to Guest Services at the start of the cruise, and they will apply it to your account. I would assume that as long as you use them all up, you should be fine. If you had any "left over" at the end of the cruise, you wouldn't have a valid card to return them to, so I'd assume they'd go away. If you used them all before 12/31, I can't think that you'd have a problem. I was told they use Rewards dollars and OBC's before charging your card. You might want to call DCL and find out for sure, though.

Based on the bolded type above.....are the reward dollars already transferred to your rewards card that is about to expire? If so then apply the amount on the rewards card now as mentioned by calling DCL or as soon as you get onboard. They do drawn down from OBC and Reward Dollars first so you should be OK.

If you have an empty rewards card that expires in 2010 then just forget about that one and order a new card and transfer the reward dollars earned to the new card.

Or, if you have some money currently on the rewards card apply that amount now or as soon as you get onboard. If you have more earned reward money that has not been tranferred to a rewards card yet, then order a new card for that money.

I would not add any more additional money to a card that is expiring in 10 days. I would use up what is on the current rewards card.... and transfer any new reward money to a new card.

Another thought for those reward points that are about to expire. If you have a nearby Disney store, go there and use the reward dollars to purchase a Disney Gift Card. You can then use the gift card on the ship and not have to worry about what date they actually bill the reward card. I'm with MJ--do not add any reward points to a card that is going to expire in 10 days!

thanks everyone. I don't have any reward money on the about to expire card but I don't have enough time to get a new card-I leave on the 29th? I am talking about almost $400.....

I believe you can get expedited service...may cost you $20 bucks but I think you can get a new card in time.

I have been told that you can get a blank rewards card at Guest Services at the port. Then you call while you're in the port and transfer your points to the card and use the card on your onboard account. I don't think you have to pay the fee for the expedited card unless you really want to.

But, as others have said, since you are sailing before the end of December, you could transfer the rest of your points to the card and apply it while onboard. Since you know you always have that option available, I'd recommend taking your blank about to expire rewards card with you, see if you can get the new card at the port, and then call to transfer your points to either the old or new card. That way you're covered!

If you're going to WDW first, you can get a card at almost any guest services - and have the $$$ put on it.
