Where Pixie-Dusted Birthday Dreams Come True! A July Trip Report! PTR Link! Pg. 116

Ooo, a never done. :thumbsup2 How exciting!

I love the interaction with the TS soldier. What a great experience for Connor.

Hope you have a fabulous Thanksgiving Jackie, good luck with your big Thanksgiving dinner preparations, Family gatherings are almost as fun as DISmeets... :)

Happy Turkey Day!!!! :goodvibes

I love rollercoasters and I'd be scared for life if I got stuck on one. One of my trips to Disney I talked to a guy who had once been stuck on Space Mountain for an hour. :scared1: I'm glad that your family didn't get stuck. :)

Ugh, I think that is part of why roller coasters scare me -- the thought of being stuck on one is almost too much!

Stumbled on your trip report and would like to join the party. Hope that's alright!

I must say though - in the last 4 years I would estimate we've ridden the GMR a dozen times and we have NEVER gotten hijacked by the cowboy.

Welcome!!! Thanks for joining in on the fun!

From what I have read, you have to be in the second set of cars on the GMR to get the cowboy.

I love how serious Connor took his tasks.

He always throws himself into things completely. LOL!

So glad Connor got the full " toy soldier" experience. I love how that little extra happens on Pixar Place. :goodvibes

It was so cute! I was laughing so much I could barely hold the camera still!

What a wonderful morning in DHS so far.

I worry about getting stuck on a thrill ride at Disney, not that I ride many of them but still. The prospect scares the crap out of me.

I love the pictures of Connor with the solider, I have seen them doing that little boot camp and it's so cute!

The prospect scares me, too! You know how I felt just being stuck on SSE for awhile.

Connor with the Toy Soldier was so cute! I was cracking up!

What fun Connor had with the Toy Soldier. I love the little things that Disney does like that! The smile the solider is giving at the end is hilarious. :)

We too have gotten both the gangster and cowboy both equally.

I loved that Connor wanted to do it! He saw that Toy Soldier and his eyes just lit up!

In all the GMR rides I can remember we've never seen the cowboy, it's always been the gangster for some reason.

Fun experience Connor had with the Toy Soldiers. They seem like a hoot!

The Toy Soldiers are a hoot! They are just like the ones in the movies.

From what I have read, you have to be in the second set of cars for the cowboy. I have to confess I wasn't paying attention to which set we were in, though.

What a great continuation of your DHS day!!! WOOT WOOT for the cowboy!!!! I have seen the cowboy only twice, didn't even believe that side existed!!! LOL!!

Love Connor's interaction with the Toy Soldier!! He looked very serious and looked like he had a lot of fun!! Love the photo of him and the soldier!!!

Can't wait for more!!!

The cowboy does exist. When I realized we were getting the cowboy, I had to text Leslie!

Connor was taking his toy soldier duties very seriously!

I so love the past two updates!!! Even though the day may have started with a "late" start, it sounds like you were having a great time! :) I love the part about Charles falling asleep......SO shocked! :O Hee hee hee!

DHS always turns out to be a really great day for us! It seems no matter what we have some of our best times there.

What fun! I love that Connor got recruited.:rotfl: It's the little things like that, that make Disney so special.

Is Connor ready to enlist now?

Disney really knows how to make us smile! :goodvibes

Connor is always ready to enlist -- especially when he sees those commercials on television that make the military look like something out of a video game. :scared: I have been doing my best to convince him that he wants to go to Georgia Tech for an engineering degree, do the College Program at Disney, and become an Imagineer. :goodvibes

We have encountered the cowboy & the gangster on the GMR. I love that ride, I've seen most of those movies.

Me too! I love the montage at the end!

A few years ago a friend of mine & her daughter were on Spaceship Earth when it stopped. It would not start again so they had to walk down from the top of the hill in the sphere! :scared1: No way could I do that!

We stopped for forever one time on SSE, and I couldn't help but wonder if we were going to have to walk down. It kind of scared me!

Awwww I love that Connor was picked for boot camp!! If there ever was a boy chosen to play in a role at DHS they found their man!!:thumbsup2

::yes::

What a cute story about the girls and Bo :goodvibes I thought of Chelsea when I slung my arm through his in October and of you when I saw the chairs at AKV :)

I loved the pictures you posted on Facebook of both Bo and the chairs! They made us smile!

Hope you are enjoying your time off! :goodvibes

Tracy

I am, but it is going much too fast!

too cute too fun! Loved seeing Connor ham it up with the army men! Seems like a fun afternoon for sure, and of course the Great Movie ride story!!! FUN!

Connor was all into being a soldier and following orders.

I have been on the GMR numerous times and never have gotten the cowboy! :headache:

What a great experience for Connor to get to go through that "training" with the Army Man. Too cute! :goodvibes

One day you will get the cowboy, I am sure! :thumbsup2

Connor was thoroughly enjoying himself!

Little unexpected and fun moments like that make each trip different and special.

So true! I think that is why we keep going back! Every trip is packed with special moments!

I'd say we get the gangster 4 to 1 over the cowboy.

I have to confess I don't have a preference to who we get -- I know their end will be the same so I don't get attached to them.

Is there any pumpkin cake left at your house? I could go for a piece for breakfast this morning before I get started. :goodvibes

There is actually! Maybe that's what I will have to stave off my zebra dome cravings. LOL!

Connor is so cute with the green army guy! What a great memory :goodvibes

I love the pictures from that boot camp. Connor was so into it.

Yes, the convention and the YC were both amazing! I'm thinking a stay at the YC in addition to our DVC stay may happen summer 2012. I'm hesistant to change our 10 nights at BLT for August 2011. BLT can be so hard to get. Plus, we do spend a ton of time at the MK. And with monorail access to Epcot and a rental car, we won't NEED the private entrance as much. But it is nice.

Can't beat being on the monorail!

I was able to hit the parks everyday after sessions at the convention. The crowds were not bad Thursday and Friday. But Saturday at the MK was a nightmare. Wall to wall people :scared1: That experience sort of changed my desire to go Christmas week.

The crowds can be off-putting!

Are you booking your summer 2011 vacation soon? Less than a month to book free dining :rolleyes1

Charles said the same thing to me. I don't know why I am dragging my feet this year.

What great interaction with the toy soldier! :cool1:

Happy Thanksgiving, Jackie! :goodvibes

Happy Thanksgiving, Carissa!

How sweet of Chelsea's friends to send her that picture! :)

It made us laugh so hard!

I am with you on ToT.... Rode once and never again!!

It shook me up pretty bad. ;)

Connor is precious with the soldiers!! That's fun that he wanted to participate.

In the past three or four years, neither one has actually asked to stand in line to see a character, so I knew we had to do this one!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Happy Thanksgiving, Katie!!!

Aww, Connor looks too cute in those Toy Soldier pictures! Must have melted your heart that he wanted to participate!
We also have gotten the gangster and cowboy equally. :confused3

I was practically hopping up and down with excitement when he said he wanted to do it!

I love the pics of Connor going through the drills. He'll remember that forever!

Oh, yes! He was so cute!

Ooo, a never done. :thumbsup2 How exciting!

I love the interaction with the TS soldier. What a great experience for Connor.

It may have been our only "never-done" on the trip. Well, besides the Innoventions stuff.

Hope you have a fabulous Thanksgiving Jackie, good luck with your big Thanksgiving dinner preparations, Family gatherings are almost as fun as DISmeets... :)

Happy Turkey Day!!!! :goodvibes

Happy Thanksgiving, Happydog!!!

Well, some family gatherings can be as fun as DIS meets.

Jackie I just wanted to wish you & your family a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

Happy Thanksgiving to you, too!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING Jackie and Family Enjoy!!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving, Pat!!!

Happy Thanksgiving Jackie !!!!

Happy Thanksgiving, Rosie!!!

Happy Thanksgiving! Thanks for your latest update. I'm going to look for Chelsea's "Main Man" in February...I've never seen him before. I also didn't know there was a cowboy on the GMR. We've been on it 3 times, but we always get the gangster. We'll see if we can get ourselves in the 2nd set of cars and test that theory out.

That's great that Charles pretended to fall asleep on the GMR! :rotfl2: Too bad he wouldn't let you take his picture!

I LOVE that Connor got recruited by the Toy Soldier...what fun! :goodvibes

Jackie ~ I hope that you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Getting stuck on ANY ride, much less a coaster that goes upside-down, terrifies me! I’m so glad they were OK and didn’t get stuck anywhere! Also, I think it is amazing that so many people have had the cowboy on GMR. The kids and I have never experienced that one! I’m starting to think it is a myth! LOL

Happy Thanksgiving Jackie!! Hope you are having a nice day. Finally getting some down time to catch up on some DISing. Read your last two updates - Connor with the Toy Story soldier is great!! :thumbsup2 Love the Chelsea & Bo story too!

Thanks for the updates Jackie. Love the report so far. My kids are also in love with Bo. We missed him in Sept this year!

Happy Thanksgiving to you, too! Bo is right in front of Oscar's as you enter DHS. :goodvibes

Yes, Connor, this is a good plan. :thumbsup2
Listen to your mother. ::yes::

You guys have a wonderful day!

Hope you had a nice day, too, MeMom! I am looking forward to decorating for Christmas and eating leftovers (starting with pecan pie for breakfast) today.

Right now, Connor thinks becoming an Imagineer is a great idea -- after all he loves creating stories and building things out of Legos -- those are the two big qualifications, right? Oh, and he loves Disney!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving, Jen! Hope you had a lovely day!

That's great that Charles pretended to fall asleep on the GMR! :rotfl2: Too bad he wouldn't let you take his picture!

I know -- I burst out laughing when he did it!

I LOVE that Connor got recruited by the Toy Soldier...what fun! :goodvibes

The little boot camp was hysterical. The soldier would say things like, "You have to be able to hold your toy soldier pose for 300 hundred years."

Jackie ~ I hope that you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

You, too, Lynn!

I assure you, the cowboy is not an urban legend. :lmao:

Happy Thanksgiving, Amy! Connor had a great time being recruited!

Thanks for the updates Jackie. Love the report so far. My kids are also in love with Bo. We missed him in Sept this year!

We love our Bo!!! :lovestruc

July 22, 2010: Part Three

After Connor finished his boot camp experience with the Toy Soldier, we decided we were in need of some air-conditioning. Doing jumping jacks and watching toy soldier stances in the 100-degree heat can be exhausting.

What did we do?

Something I have wanted to do for awhile. We headed into One Man’s Dream.

It was so neat!

I really liked the various models.

Main Street, USA.

An animator’s desk.

Walt’s Office.

Sleeping Beauty’s Castle.

Dumbo.
454.jpg

My favorite model: the Jungle Cruise.
455.jpg

Tinkerbell. I really want this doll.
456.jpg

The Columbia Sailing Ship.
457.jpg

My favorite dress in Mary Poppins.

Spaceship Earth.

Cinderella’s Castle. Apparently I was listing to the left when I took it. LOL!
461.jpg

Typhoon Lagoon.
462.jpg

I think this is the castle in France.
463.jpg

We watched the movie as well, and of course, I got all weepy. Walt Disney really was such an amazing man.

We soldiered back into the heat and made our way to the other side of the park.

Look at that gorgeous blue sky! Not a cloud in sight.

A crate addressed to my favorite movie heroine, Scarlett O’Hara. Don’t you just know it is probably full of clothes? The street address is actually the date of the premiere, December 15, 1939. Margaret Mitchell was the author of GWTW, and Jonesboro is the town near Tara.
470.jpg

Who Framed Roger Rabbit? is a favorite movie for Connor and me, so it is always fun to spot the nods to it in DHS.

The window where Roger Rabbit crashed through.

Eddie Valient’s office.

It was almost time for lunch…

UP NEXT: We watch tv while we eat!

Great update! One Man's Dream is a wonderful exhibition. I am glad you finally got to see it. And I can confirm that this is indeed Disneyland Paris Sleeping Beauty Castle. It even has a cave with a dragon underneath it. :goodvibes

The models in One Man's Dream are great! And the movie is touching. What an amazing man!

I'd love to see the contents of Scarlett O'hara's crate.

Sounds like a great way to cool off! We didn't see the movie in One Man's Dream, but maybe I'll catch that on my trip in January.
