First time cruiser...question about pirate night

HI!! We are booked for our first Disney cruise on March 20, 2011. SO excited

I have a question about the Pirate theme night. We are on a 4 day cruise, so will this be one of the nights? Also, do the kids dress up in pirate garb? Is that pretty standard? I was thinking this might be a good time to pick up some pirate outfits with all of the "after Halloween" sales going on.

Thanks for any other information!!!:goodvibes

I brought my son's pirate outfit yesterday. Many people will be dressed up, you will have the chance to take pics of the characters in their pirate outfits, last year we were able to get great photos with Captain Jack. My son didn’t have a pirate costume but he will be ready for the Dream in September! The four night cruise will even have a pirate themed menu in the MDR. The Pirate party is great and so are the fireworks!

It's not just kids that dress up...many adults do as well.

You don't have to dress up though. Most people don't. But if you want to go all out, you won't be alone.

i have read that there are halloween parties on all october cruises. i was wondering are these in addition to, or in place of the pirate night?

We are on a 3 night cruise on the Dream in September.. How will that differ from the 4 night regarding the Pirate night?

I don't have kids, but I still plan on participating in pirate night. I will be wearing black jeans and a black t-shirt that has a pirate face printed on it. I also have a handfull of those pirate bandanas they give out at dinner and a pirate themed hair scrunchie to complete my look. :) Arrgh!

Well, on the current ships, you do not get the pirate menu in the restaurants for dinner, you get the normal rotation menu.

We have been on 3 cruises, and with each cruise we look more forward to Pirate night! Like everyone says, it's not just for the kids! All it takes is a bandana, an eye patch, and a some make-up to give a scruffy beard! pirate:

We just got back from the Magic Oct 23-30th, and we had Halloween and pirate night. I don't know if the 3 and 4 day cruises have both. Pirate night was definitely the funner of the two, and more people dressed up for it. The kids got to go Trick or Treating to about 10 different stations around the ship to get some candy--lots of fun!

my DW & I have no kids but still dressed up for everything (Magic 23~30)
we went to a second hand store and made pirate gear for under $10...
and my Halloween custome (Mr. Fredricksen) for under $20...
it is lots of fun....even went to dinner all dressed up

do it, enjoy and be a kid again....LOTS OF FUN!!!

This year, the Wonder had Halloween parties on it from Oct 17th until the end of the month. On the Magic there were Halloween parties on the Oct 23 and Oct 30th cruises. The Magic had both Pirate night and the Halloween parties, (Great time!:banana:pirate::banana:) but I don't know if the Wonder's 3 and 4 day cruises did both.

Pirate night is awesome. FYI, if you dine that evening they usually provide a pirate napkin/bandana you can take and use. There are plenty of pirate plastic swords, etc you can buy ($$$) during the party.
