The FrenchFry takes on the Caesar Salad - DREAM COME TRUE GOT TO MEET PODCAST TEAM!

blah.. what a way to end the day:headache:... looking forward to hearing about Chef Mickey's/MK and hopefully your car rental issues have been figured out!!popcorn::

Looks like you had a blast at DC, great pictures :)

Sorry the Titanic exhibit was so rushed, it looked like lots of fun though :)

Looking forward to reading about your MK Day :goodvibes

I've taken way too long to put on this update but real life has gotten in the way! boo!

I think we'd do the titanic exhibition again if we got a chance it was very cool, and try to avoid the final show of the evening!

The Titanic exhibit sounds really cool. I think it was here in NYC a few years back but I never got to see it. I can only imagine what the crowds would have been like! Love the picture of you two in front of the staircase :)

Thanks I love the staircase photo! although we were lucky to snatch it as we were herded through!

What a cool experience! Bummer that they were trying to rush you, but at least you go some good pics :)

DBF was happy to get half of his wish list ticked off on only our first full day! the other part was Kennedy Space Centre,,,I hadn't been looking forward to either but really enjoye both!:cool1:

Hey Raecheal! it was a bad end to the day but nearly so bad that it started to get funny! even the car drama has a comical side now but only with plenty of hindsight! there was nothing funny at the airport car rental station when I was crying my eyes out!:rotfl:...

Ok sorry for the late update...my irish dancing concert is this week and we're practicing so so hard, will be a great relief to have it all over and done with...we have sold out 2 shows on Saturday which = around 800 tickets!

Back in Florida...it was Monday 5th July...our alarm woke us at 4.45 :scared1::eek: the plan was for my nana to go to the vehicle licencing agency with Ray's driving licence first thing Monday morning in Ireland to fax the licence to the Alamo centre at Disney where we would hopefully receive the fax at their opening of 6am (11am in ireland) and drive off into the sunrise!!!

remarkably (thanks nana :cutie:) the plan worked out, the fax xame through and we were issued with a set of keys (although we had picked alamo because it gave you the option of choosing your own car we were so happy to get our car that we jsust took the keys and ran!:lmao:

Here's a photo of our lovely mazda whick DBF really loved!
cathy-florida083.jpg

so after a few hiccups (the driving along with the food was the only times we had heated disputes on the holiday!) we made it to the contemporary where we gladly handed the keys to the valet parking man and headed into the Contemporary over half an hour early for our 7am reservation at Chef Mickey's!!!COLOR]
I was really on cloud 9 at this point. Things were really looking up, the car fiasco had been saved, we were on disney property and had so much fun in front of us! what a great feeling! :wizard:

here is me and DBF in the deserted contemporary!

cathy-florida062.jpg

cathy-florida063.jpg

cathy-florida064.jpg

I really loved the Contemporary and would love to stay there some day but DBF prefers the other 2 monorail resorts so if we ever make it onto that line it might be the poly! this ADR was also a sneaky way of showinf DBF how great it would be to stay in a monorail resort and the handiness of the transport to the parks!!!

ANYWAY...as we were so early there wasn't even a CM at the podium to check us in but I hovered in the general check in area determined to protect my place as first in line!:rotfl: DBF persuaded me to sit and relax and enjoy the view by pionting out the general lack of life in the surrounding area and so we sat and cuddled and looked out at the view...then suddenly a CM appears and an unknonwn lady materialises as if from nowhere and goes to check in just as I jump up and get back in line! Rage! I feel like Monica in Friends in the wedding dress shop!

DBF tries to make me feel better by saying is only one little lady...does anyone guess what's coming next??????:lmao:

TOUR GROUP!!!!

80 of them!!!

all in front of us!!! :rotfl2: we just hadda laugh!

once we eventually got shown through after 80 lime green t shirts (look out for them in the background of our photo's) we were quickly seated and went up to fill our plates...mmm...this was my kinda breakfast
cathy-florida065.jpg

I had been looking forward to the mickey waffles for about ten yers!!! and it was only a few minutes before the characters started to be led out...

cathy-florida070.jpg

Wish DBF's eyes were open with Donald, even though we were 2 adults we both agreed that meeting the characters at the table was really cool! when the time for the napkin dance came I was practically bouncing in the seat with excitement, my friend had been earlier in the week and had loved this part...I'm so glad DBF got into the swing of things, some boys would be too cool for school...
cathy-florida071.jpg

This is probably my favourite character photo , the waitress was very good and didn't mind taking our photo and the family next to us offered to take any if we needed also...I'm glad we wore these shirts, Mickey and Minnie gave them the thumbs up!
cathy-florida073.jpg

We both enjoyed our first character Dining experience altough when the bill arrived in the region of $70 DBF nearly choked on his mickey waffle! he also found the food a little on the sweet side where as I was running a one man relay race with the donut station, love the little timbit glazed ones! mmm!:cloud9:

Ooooh, I love your bow!!! So cute! Glad things seem to start turning around for you! (Minus the tour group....)

That's a whole lot of lime green! It looks like you had a great breakfast. And I'm glad your car issues worked out :)

Wow, the tour group took up half the restaurant :scared1: Who would have thought they would have made a breakfast reservation that early in the morning?

I love your outfit! And that your DBF was wearing a Mickey shirt and getting into the napkin dance, what a good sport! :goodvibes

Just caught up...I love your shirts, you must have been pretty popular with Mickey's crew :thumbsup2

Can't wait to read more!

Great choice of tshirts.. I remember that bow headband from your PTR... looks so cute! :cutie:

I liked the bow, but next time it will be ears!:cool1:we enjoyed meeting 'our' tour group in the parks during the rest of the week! and we even saw them sitting in a big group on the floor at the mall...the amount of abercrombie and hollister bags they had was crazy!

thanks, we were so relieved to get the car and although initially very anxious DBF loved the freedom of having a car and liked the openness of american driving!:goodvibes I loved the breakfast, my mum is going in May and is making an ADR for Chef Mickey's on our good review!

A couple of cast members liked my shirt which I thought was cool...DBF was a really good sport and a great travel companion although he gets very worried if he veers off his healthy eating plan...whereas I'm almost allergic to halth eating!:rotfl:

Hi, thanks for coming by:banana:
Yep they were signalling to the tshirts and the waitress tried to interpret for us! I'm hopefully going to frame the photos with micky and minnie!

I'm always on the look out now for cute disney tee's for my next (as yet unplanned but a girl can dream!) disney trip! thanks, my mum thought the headband channelled a minnie mouse vibe, I love having a family thats disney crazy too!

Wow that is a big tour group!!!

Looks like you had a great breakfast with Mickey & Co, loving all the photos :goodvibes

I am back and all caught up. I can't believe your luck with that tour group! You would think that maybe the CM hostess would have gone ahead and let you two in ahead of the 80.

Glad you enjoyed the character breakfast!

we saw them all through the parks the following week! we called them 'our' tour group!:lmao: I loved the breakfast! DBF found most things a bit sweet for his liking though...

Thats what I thought! we could have got our breakfast from the buffet before they'd even finished getting in place for their huge entrance photo! but o well, maybe fate telling me to chill out!:rotfl:

will definitely be returning to chef mickey's in the future...

As soon as we finished our breakfast we hopped on the monorail over to the MK enjoying the views of the Polynesian and Grand Floirdian as we went, we were both very excited and DBF was looking forward to his first ever glimpse of the castle...

We probably had about 45 mins waiting before the opening show and DBF was enjoying an early rest...

cathy-florida075.jpg

cathy-florida074.jpg

we both loved the arrival of the train and the opening show, I was torn between watching DBF's reaction and watching the show myself, he couldn't believe the effort involved in simply opening the park! :wizard:

cathy-florida076.jpg

Upon entering the park, we got a bit carried away with the excitement and the crowd and although we were happily taking in the castle and mainstreet it was definitely at a quick pace as we headed towards Space Mountain...

This was a walk on and w both loved it, and the tv screens you appear on as you exit the ride on the moving walkway was really cool! now this was when things started to get weird!!!

This was 5th July, I was ready for HUGE crowds,

we walked on
- Buzz lightyear
- Winnie the Pooh
- 5 mins for Peter Pan
- Haunted Mansion

Thunder Mt railroad and Splash were really short waits and Pirates of the Caribean was a 2 minute wait!

I was so excited, I kept telling DBF 'It's not meant to be like this!!!':goodvibes

Here we are posing after one of DBF's favourite rides!

cathy-florida078.jpg

cathy-florida080.jpg

so by about half eleven we had all the above rides done and headed towards snow white and ou longest wait of the day, maybe 30 minutes, although we both enjoyed the ride we were both hungry and our very early start was cathing up with us!

cathy-florida081.jpg

cathy-florida082.jpg

I think our exhaustion is showing through in those photos and although we were loving the castle view we both felt we needed a nap and a change of footwear (our feet were killing, flimsy footwear not such a good idea!) if we were going to make the fireworks show that night!!!

Great start to the day, isn't MK great when you make it for rope drop? Nice and empty-ish and everything is totally doable before lunch :)

Looking forward to reading more popcorn:

That's amazing you guys got so much done by noon :woohoo: Pixie dust was definitely on your side that day :wizard: I hear ya, those early breakfast ADRs are rough. Last year my sister and I had to go back to our hotel and rest because we were so exhausted by 2 or 3 in the afternoon.

Hi, sorry for the late replies, I have become a little demotivated, didn't realise how hard this trip report writing would be! it's difficult to keep it fresh and interesting but have started so want to keep going!:surfweb:

You were able to accomplish a lot in that time! I'm like you...I would've expected bigger waits!

DBF was looking at the roped off unused queueing areas with a 'surely people don't queue through all this? expression!:rotfl: I warned him we were bound to have some long waits in the next 2 weeks! and we did!

I love MK at opening although I'd love to go in less of a panic next time and enjoy a leisurely stroll down Main St and breakfast at the bakery, hmmm such a nice thought sitting in my freezing office!

Me and DBF were struggling to keep going, we even passed up our ADR at Liberty Tree Tavern because we were just so exhausted, not sure we were even thinking straight!!!:scared1: but so glad we got to come back for the fireworks that night! a little nap is definitely the key after the early ADR's!!!

I am So happy to have found your trip report.. First of all.. Love anyone from the Irish Isle.. I have been once.. not to n. ireland though (as when I went you couldn't get from ireland to n.ireland because of all that was going on). I have tons of family in Galway, and County Kerry and Kilarney.. As much as I love Disney, Ireland is my next favorite place in the world.. I would love to be able to take my son and my husband there as my parents did for me..

U like American Accents.. I love a good Brogue! HA..
I have enjoyed reading your TR so much.. Its not boring at all.. I feel like I am right there with you.. I am doing it backwards though, I will go to read your PTR Now.. I hope that once I get my act together and begin my PTR you will come and read as well..
My trip is planned for May 2011.. With my son, who is turning 5 and my husband who is turning 40 (I am also turning 40 but not until way later ;0)
Cheers!

Hi, I'll definitely come over and read your trip report, my mum nana aunt and cousin have a trip booked for May 2011 too so you might overlap :goodvibes exam commitments mean I just couldn't squeeze it in:mad:!

You'll have to get up North next time you make it to Ireland, did you visit Dublin when you were here and visit a couple of wee irish pubs? has your husband and son visited Ireland before? My DBF has some relatives from Cork but even though Ireland is pretty small we haven't been down to visit them yet! and we've been dating almost 2 yrs!

glad your liking the trip report, real life is definitely impeding my dis-boarding at the minute but hope to get caught up once I get my christmas holidays! :yay::yay:

bought my mum a mickey mouse nightshirt yesterday for £7 will try and stick a photo up this weekend!

Sadly, I have never been up North.. and although I did make it some pubs when I was in Ireland.. I was only 8:scared1:.. haha..
I absolutely loved it and it really is my dream to go back there.. Both my grandparents on my dads side were from there.. They had huge irish families, sadly they are all gone now, but their kids are all still there.. One of these days.. Oh, I would LOVE to do a DIS meet with your family if our days overlap.. Nothing I love better than some irish.. My son who is going to 5, I talk about his great grandad to him quite often and am always trying to fake the Irish Brogue, how great it would be to have him talk to your MUM??
This is a really busy time of the year.. although I can't wait to hear more about your trip.. I am anxiously anticipating:banana:..
