"Follow the bouncing ears!" - Oct 2010 solo/Dismeet TR; UPDATE 11/26

Sounds like a great day. Do you know that DH bought the same votive candle holders? Or should I say - I bought it for him? :lmao:

Sounds like a great day. Do you know that DH bought the same votive candle holders? Or should I say - I bought it for him? :lmao:

:lmao: Awesome :) I just thought they were adorable, and I love candle holders. I get the Yankee Candle catalogs and there are so many things in the new Christmas one that I want to get. I was going to keep them, and then I "gave" them to my mom, since I felt bad not getting her anything and getting my dad the two mugs. Then she's like "I know you bought them for yourself". :)

But yeah, they're cute! I really like the lantern, too!

That sounds like a really great day! I love that you didn't really have any set plans for the day except to travel around MK and try to get character signatures/pictures. Also, thanks for telling me they made Disney precious moments. Uh oh! I think I've found my weakness. I've always thought Precious Moments were so cute!

Awesome on the great deals you got. There were so many things that I'd pick up at Disney only to turn it over and see it was on clearance! :)

What a great day at MK! I remember you texting me that day saying you were hunting for characters! I also remember telling you how creepy I thought Peter Pan was and you agreeing! :rotfl: I never see the Fairy Godmother! And I only see Mary Poppins in Epcot by England...I need to see her with the penguins this year!!! :cool1:

I can't wait to try the pot roast in LTT! I hate mushrooms too, but whatever, I'll eat around them or something! Pot roast is pretty much the reason I'm going there! I love the pics of the inside of the restaurant it looks really nice! :thumbsup2

I love all the stuff you bought!

just finished up part of chapter 3 and I love your pics at Crystal Palace! Pooh and Mini Pooh are so cute!

I HATE mushrooms. HATE.

Hmmm...since we'll be having some meals in the room (at least Fran and I will) that is good to know.

Just found your trip report today and I've been busy reading and looking at all your photos!!

I love all your photos.
We'll be staying at POP when we go during christmas week.

I look forward to more photos.

Thanks for posting!

Debbie :surfweb:

So happy to see that Pooh and Eeyore got some rest after that long tuesday.:rotfl2: I really do love all of the pictures with them.:lovestruc

Can't wait to see all the pictures on your photopass. I think you saw much more characters than we did. Sometimes I was the only one interested.

Oh, and I know why you were the only one eating up stairs at CHH. It's those darn stairs. Too steep for me to carry a big ol' tray up! More power to you for doing so!:rotfl:

Honestly, I almost never have "set" plans. The only plans I really made were dinner reservations, and then everything else, even with Sharon and the other Disers, was like the vultures in Jungle Book. "So what do you wanna do?" "I dunno, what do you wanna do?" "Well, let's do SOMETHING!" You can get the Disney Precious Moments on the website, too :teeth: I think some of them are cute, but I'm not really big into Precious Moments. I think part of that is that so many of the non-Disney ones are religious themed and I'm very anti-religion. But anyway :rolleyes1

I loved picking those up and seeing the little red sticker. Oddly enough, the lantern was only clearance at the confectionery, and the votives were only clearance at the shop by Hall of Presidents. :confused3

It's just funny to me because "I'm hunting Mary Poppins" sounds like I'm Elmer Fudd and ought to have a shotgun or something :lmao: But yeah, I had a good time on my character hunt :) I was actually so used to seeing the Fairy Godmother in that spot two years ago that I knew she'd be there, I just wasn't sure if her sets were done for the day or not. I never saw Mary at MK, though, except in the parades! So I thought that was nice :) If the penguins are still with her, let me know. My mom would LOVE that picture!

I probably could have picked around them, but I really didn't want to. The cheeseburger was quite good, though. I love the inside of that restaurant :)

Me too! I just set up the votives in my bedroom, even though it's after Halloween. I also have my little Mickey tree up already :lmao: It's not even a foot tall, so it's not taking up too much space.

just finished up part of chapter 3 and I love your pics at Crystal Palace! Pooh and Mini Pooh are so cute!

They are! I have another picture coming up of Eeyore and Mini Eeyore!

To be honest, though, don't change your meal plans because of me :goodvibes I was planning on budgeting money to eat out, and you know I have no problem dining alone, so if you guys want to eat in the room and I'm not interested in what you have planned, don't worry about it :) I'll go find something I am interested in :goodvibes That's kind of how we are at my house, actually. If someone's not interested in whatever's being made, they make something they want.

:welcome: Thanks for joining up! :)

I really loved Pop. It was perfect for me, since I was on my own, but I saw a lot of families around (obviously). There's a great thread of Pop photos on here somewhere, but I don't remember where at the moment. If you like, I can PM you the link later :)

:lmao: They did! I love the pics with them as well :) They're just cute.

My mom can't wait to see them, either, to be honest. I have to make a copy of the disc for my sister so my niece can see all the characters, and I also have to send a copy to Sharon. Honestly, that's why I waited to do my major character hunting until I was alone. I didn't want to bother anyone with my "Hey, can we go see ___?" Especially the fairies line. Oh my god, that was horrendous. I had some nice conversation in line, though.

I think it's a combination of the stairs and a lot of people not knowing you can go up there. Some restaurants that I've been to just have "decorative" stairs, even if the stairs look normal and don't have a rope across them. And as for the tray, I was only carrying one person's food, not several, so that probably helped :lmao:

Good update! Enjoyed the pictures! :)

Thanks! :) I have another one coming up soon :teeth:

Thursday, October 28, 2010 - Magic Kingdom, MNSSHP

I'd forgotten to set my alarm the night before, but I somehow still managed to wake up on time for my 9:35am reservation at Crystal Palace, so I got showered and dressed and hightailed it over to MK.

P1060390.jpg

P1060391.jpg

It was NOT that misty. My lens had fogged up and wouldn't stay unfogged.

I checked in a little early and was, once again, seated early and rather quickly.

P1060392.jpg

I saw Eeyore coming, so I placed my drink order and then waited for him to come around.

P1060393.jpg

P1060394.jpg

Eeyore LOVED my shirt and the mini!Eeyore! My server took the pictures, and another family offered to take pictures of me with the other characters, but I declined.

P1060395.jpg

P1060396.jpg

Honestly, Crystal Palace had the best grapes I had all trip. The ones in the fruit cups were soft and squishy. The grapes at Crystal Palace were nice and crisp.

P1060397.jpg

When Tigger showed up, he was motioning to the empty chair like "Where's your friend?" and then leaned on it.

P1060398.jpg

P1060399.jpg

P1060400.jpg

P1060401.jpg

Pooh was reunited with mini!Pooh.

P1060402.jpg

P1060403.jpg

P1060404.jpg

P1060405.jpg

Breakfast was just as good as dinner, which was nice. I enjoyed the food and the characters were fun.

After leaving, I headed into Tomorrowland.

P1060406.jpg

P1060407.jpg

And then up the path into Toontown.

P1060408.jpg

P1060409.jpg

P1060410.jpg

I headed into County Bounty, deciding to see the fairies, since the line would be too long for me to justify during the party.

P1060411.jpg

P1060412.jpg

I got into a conversation with the two moms in front of me (separate families, though), because really, what else are you going to do in a 90 minute line?

After meeting the fairies (Fawn, Tink, and Vidia, who was apparently quite good at being a rude fairy), I got in line for the princesses. I was originally going to do it during the party, since they'd have their princes, but I decided to just get it out of the way.

P1060413.jpg

After that, I apparently walked back to Main Street.

P1060414.jpg

And got on the train?

P1060415.jpg

BACK TO TOONTOWN!

P1060416.jpg

Honestly, I think the sun fried my brain. Either that or I was just really enjoying doing Venn diagrams of the park :lmao:

I walked up to Tomorrowland and went on the TTA.

P1060418.jpg

P1060419.jpg

These are all the mosquito bites I got on my right leg. I'm not sure when I got them, but they're still around, since my skin went insane when the temperatures dropped in Chicago (I have clinically dry skin and the winter cold makes it even more dry, which makes me itch like crazy, so I accidentally scratched open the bites). Oh, and these were NOT bed bug bites. They were mosquito bites. I think I got bit up at Epcot while waiting for Illuminations, since I was right there by the water.

P1060421.jpg

After the TTA, it was about lunchtime (I think it was 1:30, since I'd spent quite a bit of time waiting in line in Toontown), so I stopped in at Cosmic. I just got a cheeseburger, fries, and chocolate cake. I don't remember what the drink was, but probably lemonade.

P1060422.jpg

P1060423.jpg

I wandered through the shops to stay out of the heat, since it was still really warm.

P1060425.jpg

I like that quote, even though it's Yoda talking and not some fat girl from Chicago :lmao:

I know I went on Carousel of Progress and the Laugh Floor, and then apparently lost my mind because I went on Stitch.

P1060426.jpg

P1060427.jpg

I think I went on the Laugh Floor, TTA, and Carousel of Progress a couple more times because I was waiting for the wristband distribution to open up.

P1060429.jpg

P1060430.jpg

P1060431.jpg

I was waiting right over there. At one point, I was sitting on that fake rock texting someone and all of a sudden, I hear a metal clanging. I look over and there's Push, coming out of a door! He rolls over to me and asks "What are you doing sitting here? Waiting for someone?" :lmao: It was a shady spot and I was waiting for my wristband. I wish I'd taken video of it.

Once I had my wristband, I cut across the hub.

P1060432.jpg

P1060433.jpg

I went into Adventureland, and I think this was the day I got in line to see Ariel... I'm not sure, I'd have to check my Photopass and I don't feel like logging in.

But I eventually went to Pirates.

P1060434.jpg

P1060435.jpg

After exiting, I watched the pirate tutorial, which was quite cute (as was Captain Jack).

P1060436.jpg

P1060438.jpg

P1060445.jpg

I wandered over to Hall of Presidents and went on. I may have gone on Haunted Mansion before it, but I don't remember.

P1060446.jpg

P1060447.jpg

P1060448.jpg

No, I apparently went on HM after HOP.

P1060449.jpg

P1060450.jpg

About this time, it was starting to get a little closer toward 6, so I slowly made my way into Fantasyland, still wandering through shops and such.

P1060451.jpg

Have any of you ever been up in the old Skyway station? I went up there on accident once (I misunderstood the directions I was given while a CM) and omg it's creepy.

Around 6, I went and got in line for the dwarfs. I was the third group in line. I got started talking to the people in front of me and it turns out that the two ladies were Disers! So this is me, Mom2Allison01, and DisneyMouseFan:

P1060452.jpg

Before the dwarfs, I'd been texting with Ali about meeting up during the party. I told them I was getting in line for the dwarfs and to let me know if they got into MK before I got out of line, since they were having dinner at Ohana. They didn't make it in time, but we did meet up a little later. I wandered into Toontown and got my face painted, then met up with Ali and Lumar. When I got my face done, I asked if they could do things other than what was on the board (I had my glasses and a hat on, so most of those were out), and the lady said it depended on what it was. She did a sparkly pumpkin on my cheek, which was all I wanted.

We went to Pirates and just by chance took the left queue. This is important. As we were coming down to the load point, I glanced into the little cutout window down to the load and said "Oh my god, there's Mr Smee!" because there he was! When we got down to the last turn, they were coming around with their character attendants and we asked to get a picture. It was the most impromptu character greeting ever, but it was pretty cool!

P1060453.jpg

We had our own boat. There was also no one in front of us or behind us.

P1060454.jpg

P1060455.jpg

P1060456.jpg

I don't normally take flash pictures on dark rides, but I did to show the empty boats.

After Pirates, we headed over to Aladdin and went on that.

P1060457.jpg

We wandered up to Main Street and caught the first parade. While Ali and Lumar were watching it, I went to Casey's to use up my extra CS credit (I had two left and only needed one), so I got corn dog nuggets, fries, and a drink. I didn't get a picture, since I spilled the cheese sauce on my hand and burned the heck out of it.

After the parade, we found seats in the hub to watch the fireworks from. Because we were there early, we got good seats, right in the middle near the Partners statue!

Also, I can't believe I forgot to mention it, but while we were waiting for the fireworks, we spent some time looking at other people's costumes. We saw one guy who was dressed as Buzz Lightyear and had MADE his costume. The top half of the space suit was a BUCKET! It was awesome! We also saw a woman who'd made a lightsuit from Tron with glowsticks!

I think we went on Space Mountain at some point (I remember because I stumbled on the moving walkway while bouncing on it and Ali laughed at me :lmao:), but I don't remember when. I also don't remember when we split up, but I know it was before I wandered back into Fantasyland. I found this lovely lady, who made me bow before she'd sign Jade's autograph book:

P1060459.jpg

I did a bit of trick or treating and wandered up the Toontown path.

P1060460.jpg

After that, I figured I was done. I walked alongside the second parade up to Main Street and got this picture of my third favorite part of the parade:

P1060461.jpg

P1060462.jpg

Those light up balloons were so cool!

I headed up to the buses and went straight to the Pop bus. I still needed to pack, and I'd done everything I wanted to do. It was already 11pm, and my candy bag got filled up by a CM outside the gates, who was working this huge bin of candy.

I went back to Pop and packed, knowing that the only thing keeping me from being sad was the knowledge that I'd be back in a year and at Disneyland in just over seven months.

P1060463.jpg

Three parties worth of candy. We added it to our cauldron at home to pass out on Halloween, and wound up giving away 3/4 of the candy that was in the cauldron (which is 18" across and 16" high, so it's pretty big).

After packing, I took a shower and went to bed. I tried calling for a late check-out, since DME was picking me up at 1:15, but the system was down, so I had to call in the morning. I wasn't particularly happy about leaving my favorite place in the world, but I was going to a Halloween party two days later and to Six Flags with two of my friends on Halloween, so that helped, as well as the knowledge of future trips. So that was my last day at the parks

Great updates and your pictures are fantastic; for a camera that was jamming up earlier in the week.

I was sitting here reading about how you waited till you were on your own to go get in line for the Fairies and thinking...oh, I would have got in line with you.

Then I read that you waited 90 minutes. Nope, I would NOT have got in line with you! :lmao:

Glad you got a picture with the dwarfs.... (and no, I'm NOT talking about Mom2Allison01 and DisneyMouseFan - no offence ladies!). Can't wait to see the PP picture.

Yeah, I'm glad that it started working again. I'm still going to get a new camera before my DLR trip, though. I think I'll stick with Panasonic Lumix, since that camera has been through so much and it's still ticking, even if the shutter sticks a little and the dial's missing. I have more pics from Pop and some of them look really good :) I'm debating if I should put up my departure day tonight or not :worried:

That's exactly why I didn't ask :) If the line had been short, I would have, but there was no way I was making you give up an hour and a half of your 3 days to get pictures with characters I don't even like :lmao: I really don't like Tinkerbell. I just got the pictures for my niece.

I'm glad, too! My mom's really excited to see them, since my dad's totally Grumpy and I stood right by Grumpy in the pics :rotfl: I should have the disc in a couple days, so once I do, I'll PM you and get your address so I can send you your copy :)

The last day in the park is always sad for me too! I do he same thing that you do, I think about the next time that I am going to be in the World again.

Fair warning, my photos on this day stopped fairly early for some reason. I really don't know why, since I know I had batteries and space on the card.

This happens to me too! I hardly ever have any pics from DHS and I don't know why! :confused3

Once they lowered the rope and let us all through, we headed in a general "that way" direction, but I'm sure you know where we (and everyone else) were headed.

P1060219.jpg

Yup...we waited 80 minutes because we missed rope drop!

I seriously love the theming of Pixar Place.

me too, they did a really good job with this area, I think

I seriously love this queue. Our house has a "sunroom" that my dad now uses as his (massively cluttered) study, and it was our play room when we were kids. We had so many toys and games in there that it basically looked like the queue :lmao:

We had all of those things, too! :goodvibes

I was taking this pic for my boss, since I thought he'd get a kick out of it, but the other guest got in the way :lmao:

Don't you just hate photo-bombers? :rotfl2:
