UPDATE 1/20!! Bickering, Barfing, and Bug Bites

I'm glad you found your camera!

I think my reaction to 'whatever you want' would've been OK! and dragging him to the meet and greet. That's what you get for not caring!

Hope you had a better rest of the day in Epcot!

Honestly, that is what my reaction should have been! Thankfully, I lighten up a lot over the next couple of days!

Hey great trip report so far. I am really glad you found your camera. That sucks cause EPCOT is such a big place and you can lose stuff in an instant. Im glad you are having a great time (minus the fighting) I can't wait to hear more.

Seriously, when it was "missing" I felt like everyone around me was an evil camera thief! Thanks for joining in! Things get MUCH better!

Glad you found your camera to take a shot of that VIEW!!

Well lookey here! We're "usual"! It took us til my last night for us to hiss. :rotfl2:

It was a fantastic table! Such a great experience to make up for the morning we were having!

Usually we start get nit-picky with each other after spending several days in the heat and being overtired. I don't know what my problem was here :rotfl2: Thankfully, it gets much better.

Your update was so funny! :rotfl: I do the same thing with Brandon, totally overreact, argue with him, then move on when I'm over it! Thankfully, it doesn't happen in Disney much! :rotfl2:

I would have been freaking out about the camera! So glad you found it!!!

I loved Rose and Crown last year...sometime I would like to go for Illuminations!

That is a great view from your table :goodvibes You had what DBF and I call an adult meltdown and I probably would have been 10x worse if I thought I lost my camera!! I hate feeling panicked like that...but I am so glad you found it

If you thought that was funny, wait til I get to day 2! :rotfl2:

I was so upset about that camera because I could see it, in my mind, on the bench near the bathroom. I knew I looked right at it, but even to this day I don't remember ever picking it up and putting it in the backpack.

Great update!

Sorry to hear about the bickering...I think vacations in general make bickering inevitable. Which is why -- despite the fact that I'm dying to introduce my DH to WDW, and I love the trips I've taken with my mom and my sisters -- solo trips have really, really started growing on me! You can't bicker when there's no one to bicker with! :rotfl:

What's a water bobble?

And isn't Captain Eo awesome? Bizarre, and totally dated, and kinda hilarious, but awesome? I went for nostalgia reasons, and loved it much more than I did as a kid. I felt like I was inside a cheesy '80s music video. So fun!

I love that sticky toffee bread pudding. I wish I could have it right now!

Thank you!

I don't think I could manage on a solo trip...I think I'd be so bored, I'd start bickering with random strangers! :rotfl2:

What's a water bobble?

http://www.waterbobble.com
It's a reusable water bottle with a replaceable filter so you can fill it with regular tap water, and as you're drinking it, it gets filtered. It was a God-send in WDW! No more buying bottled water! We were able to refill it at water fountains or the sink in the room and it would take out that nasty sulfur taste!

It was all of those things and I loved every cheesy 80's second of it!

I love that sticky toffee bread pudding. I wish I could have it right now!

Me too! That whole meal was fantastic. Definitely one of my favorite meals of the whole trip, and we had a lot of good ones!

I love the "primitive" comment. Me, have banana, me love banana, me eat banana....thats all that was going through my brain:lmao:

I can totally see something like the lost camera happening to me and totally setting me off. So much planning and preparing and poof, losing a camera can make all that preparing fall apart. Im so glad you found it and all is right with the world again. Looking forward to the rest of your report:)

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: That's what it looks like, doesn't it! HAHAHA I love that pic!

It's funny, because when the CM told me to check Lost & Found that night, I knew in my head that the camera wasn't going to be there...now I know why! Because it was in the backpack the whole time! :lmao:

We last left off with Lumar and I finishing our fantastic meal at Rose & Crown.

When we finished eating, we went over to the back of the UK pavilion where they have some benches set up. There was no one there so we sat for a few minutes so I could make some notes on the TR. We briefly thought about going back to Future World to ride Soarin’, but decided that since we would be in Epcot two more times on this trip, we would just do it first thing on another day. I have pictures of Lumar in MouseGear, though, so even though I didn’t write it down, we must have gone back there at some point….

So we're continuing our trek around World Showcase….

This was our first PP pic for this trip, taken on the bridge in front of France:

At the recommendation of many DISers, I decided to stop in France for an orange Grand Marnier Slushie….

IMG_0145.jpg

It was not my favorite. When I got it, I didn’t realize there was vodka in it…and I REALLY don’t like Vodka….or Tequila for that matter. “I like rum….rum’s good.” (10 points if you know where that quote is from!)

Our next stop after France was Japan. Lumar and I usually spend a ton of money in Mitsukoshi but we actually walked out after 20 minutes of browsing with NOTHING! I didn’t even buy any pearls!

Next, we stopped into American Adventure to see the show. We managed to get there in time to see Voices of Liberty as well. I love their performances!

After the show, I think it was around 5pm or so, we continued into Italy where I had my first official ice cream of our trip: A beautiful, wonderful, marvelous, fantastical chocolate gelato:

As we entered Norway, the sign for Maelstrom said it was 20 minutes. I figured that would give me enough time to finish my gelato. Well, I practically inhaled it anyway, and it’s a good thing because we actually only waited about 10 minutes.

Lumar conned me into taking this picture:

And he got away with this one:

Around 6pm, we made our way to Mexico. Our ADR for San Angel wasn’t until 7:15pm, but we really like taking our time and browsing at the marketplaces in this pavilion. We rode El Gran Fiesta Tour (and the Three Caballeros song has been stuck in our heads on and off ever since), and did a tiny bit of shopping. I found a pink, white, and gray blanket I wanted and a pair of earrings that I loved, so I picked those up, and I took some pics:

We checked in for our ADR at 7pm and we were seated right within 5 minutes. We had a PERFECT table! All the way against the railing, right on the water for the boat ride!

IMG_0156.jpg

Of course, we got chips and salsa just for sitting down:

IMG_0159.jpg

Lumar ordered a Dos Equis, and I just had water:

IMG_0160.jpg

For my meal, I actually ordered off the appetizer menu, I had the Tostadas de Jaiba (crab on a tostada chip) which were phenomenal.

IMG_0163.jpg

Lumar ordered the Sirloin con Chili Relleno (Sirloin steak served on a stuffed poblano chili pepper (stuffed with beans and cheese), and served over rice – although we don’t remember what kind of rice it was.)

IMG_0162.jpg

Lumar really enjoyed it, and just nearly cleaned the plate.

Of course, we can’t leave Mexico without getting Lumar some flan:

IMG_0174.jpg

And I had my 2nd official ice cream: Vanilla w/ caramel sauce.

IMG_0175.jpg

After dinner, we meander back over to Norway to get a spot for Illuminations which is my favorite fireworks show next to Hallowishes. A friend of mine let me borrow her monopod, but I, of course, left it in the back seat of the car. So I did the best I could without any support for my camera:

Now, what would a day at the Food & Wine Festival be without a Drunk Story!?

It was EMH this night, but Lumar and I were exhausted so we decide to head out. However, we walked clockwise all the way around WS instead of just exiting right by Mexico, hoping that this would help us to avoid the crowds waiting for buses.

We get all the way over to the UK, and Lumar says he has to run in to use the restroom. I’m standing on the corner of the sidewalk where the main sidewalk meets the sidewalk leading into the restrooms (the fountain in the pavilion is to my left, about 15 feet away). I’m leaning against a short post that holds the chain perimeter fence, which runs all the way around the main UK building.

All of the sudden, someone bashes into my right shoulder from behind me. I turn around, fully prepared and intent to give them a really dirty look, but the person (who after a few seconds I determine is a female) is now in front of me RUNNING past me. She gets about 2 steps by me and projectile vomits all over the sidewalk. At that point in time, there was literally NO ONE there except for me and her. She just keeps running towards the restroom and I’m stuck standing there, looking at this…..abomination. I won't describe it to you, but let's just say that this girl had more Wine than Food at today's Festival.

So I see a CM walking up the street in front of Rose & Crown. I run over and apologize that he happens to be the one walking by, but explain what happened. He just says “oh no problem! Thanks for letting me know!” and goes right over to clean it up. I talked to him for a minute and discovered that apparently, this is a frequent occurrence.

Gross.

So Lumar and I finally head out and are pleasantly surprised to find that there are only a few other people waiting for a CSR bus. After what we went through at Pop last year, and watching a video on YouTube of some guest strangling a WDW bus driver earlier this summer, we were really relieved!

Up next: Our first day at DHS and another meltdown.

Great update, Ali. Your pictures of Illuminations are terrific (I'm very jealous). Lumar is going to have to have a contest with Grumpy for hat poses. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

That is just SICK about the woman losing her "wine" right by you. I don't even know what to say about that.

Can't wait to hear about your Studios day (and another meltdown???).

Great update!!

I'm surprised you didn't really like the orange slushie from France...I didn't know there was vodka in it! :rotfl: I can't do vodka by itself but if it's in a drink I don't mind it!

San Angel looks good, Brandon really wants to eat there but I'm nervous about it for some reason! Maybe our next trip!

Your Illuminations shots are beautiful! :lovestruc How did you get such great pics? Mine are always terrible! :rotfl:

Ew...that girl puking is just gross...you have to pace yourself in Disney!!! I'm fully prepared to be seeing things like this when I'm there this Saturday, since it's the last weekend and I'm sure people will be getting crazy! :cool1:

Glad you had a good day, minus the bickering and the barf... I hope that is the only barf you encountered this trip...

Honestly, that CM was right... People throw up at WDW (and definitely at Epcot) more than you'd think. Overexertion + too much food + alcohol (at Epcot) + spinny/coaster rides = upset stomachs and lots of Voban.

But yay for a good day besides the bickering, "lost" camera, and the protein spill! :) Your Illuminations pics are awesome!

Thanks, Kathy!

Lumar loves to put on silly hats...I actually HATE hats so it has to be something REALLY good for me to take part!

Thankfully, this will be the last meltdown (I guess instead of having them at the end of the trip like normal people, we did things a bit backwards!)

Great update! Gross about the vomit:scared:

Really, a guest strangled and bus driver??? That nuts!

yup...here's a link...it was on the news!

YUM!!!!

(The food....not the vomit) :rotfl:

And I love your Illuminations shots.

The food was VERY yummy! The vomit...probably not so much! And thank you!

I actually didn't like the margarita I got a couple years ago in Mexico, either!

San Angel is one of our favorites! Give it a shot! You won't be disappointed! It's definitely not Tex-Mex though!

I have a firewords mode on my camera that I finally learned how to use! More of them would have come out better if I had a mono or tripod but I'm OK with what I got!

Yeah the puke WAS gross. Although, I've been to the F & W Festival three times, multiple days each trip, and this is the first time I actually saw someone lose it. Hopefully you won't have to witness it.

Thanks for posting such a detailed trip report..thanks for sharing!!

I hope that wasn't sarcastic! :rotfl2: Thanks for joining me!

Glad you had a good day, minus the bickering and the barf... I hope that is the only barf you encountered this trip...

Sadly....no....:sad2:

Ugh, seriously, I gained so much respect for the sanitation CMs on this trip. Probably the least magical job you can have at WDW and he was just so nice about it. You guys are appreciated! :thumbsup2

Overall, it was a good day! And it get's WAY better!! :goodvibes

It was only non-magical when I had to clean up puke or blood. Aside from that, it was fine :)

Okay, I have to ask how much better! How much better?! :lmao:

Your Epcot day sounded great until that girl had her accident :rotfl2:

Sounded like something that would have happened to me.......btw DH and I are 99% sure we are changeing to Oct 23 to 30 next year, the weather does not seem all that much warmer than in November and crowds seem to be not bad either.

Loving your TR
