Just wondering ... how much do you typically tip at Palo?

I want to make sure we're in the right ballpark. ;)

We may be way high, or way low, but we tip $10 a person....so $20 for hubby and I. But we don't drink, so as far as "rules" go, I don't know if that makes a difference. Maybe if we ordered drinks, we'd tip more?:confused3

I'm about the same, but last time our server was so excellent and wonderful that I went well above that. (we had her for both the brunch and dinner and she was a blast!)

We've always tipped $30 which is the exact same amount that it costs to dine there for two people. We've never gone to Palo with anyone else, it is usually DH and I alone.

Keeping in mind the DCL gratuity guidelines...Palo gratuity is included. With that being said, for excellent service, DH and I usually tip on top of the dining fee.

What about gratuities?
Answer
It is customary to give gratuities in recognition of service, which you will most likely be treated to in abundance aboard the ship. As a guideline, we suggest the following:

Per Guest per cruise 3-Night 4-Night 7-Night
Dining Room Server $12.00 $16.00 $28.00
Dining Room Asst. Server $9.00 $12.00 $21.00
Dining Room Head Server $3.00 $4.00 $7.00
Stateroom Host/
Hostess $12.00 $16.00 $28.00
Dining Manager Your Discretion
Room Service Your Discretion
Palo Gratuity included
Vista Spa & Salon Your Discretion
Babysitting Gratuity not expected
Shore Excursions Optional;
not included in shore
excursion price.

We tip the same as we would for a comparable meal and service here at home. Your milage may vary.

That's exactly what I understood. We did not tip extra at Palo for that reason. We tipped at high tea though and, of course, our regular servers/room attendant.

This is a good point.

We have always received excellent service at all of our Palo meals. And have given more than the extra fee charged to dine at Palo. We have paid an additional $20.00 for dinners. Not as high for Brunch or High Tea. I can't remember exactly how much more for those two; but we did give an additional amount for great service.

We usually tip 10-15 per person. There are five of us in our family so the tip usually is between 50-75.

I think it's been posted before, but the "fee" to dine at Palo is the waiters tip and does not go to Disney. The servers do not get any tips at the end of the cruise, so this is there way of making money.

If the cost is $30 for 2 at Palo and you give en extra $20 tip, you've essentially given the waiter a $50 tip. If there are more people than do the math and add it up. It's all a tip to the waiter/waitress.

It's been reported that the server only receives part of the fee - I believe it used to be the server receives $5 of the fee. It's even listed in the above copy & paste from the DCL website that the gratuity is included, to me that does not mean the server gets the entire fee.

We tip$ 40 for dinner and$ 30 for brunch for the 2 of us. They do not receive that full$ 15.

My dh and I tipped $10 each, $20 total for our waitress at Palo. I think her name was Julia and she was wonderful. When we went to the buffet restaurant for breakfast on our debarkation morning she was working at the buffet line. It was nice to see her again.
