Caught up again!!! I haven't been Dis'ing much lately and wanted to get caught on yours.Le Cellier looks great. Can't wait to try it in January. Love the Moose dessert! Am I able to order it, I am just a big kid.
And love all of your pics of the pool. Looks like a lot of fun. We hardly ever spend much time at the pools.
I had never heard you could call the phone booths. I may have to try that.
Oh, and I think you did more in your 4 days in DC than we did the 3 years we lived there.

You will love Le Cellier! And yes, anyone can order the Chocolate Moose- but a child is required to rearrange his face! You don't want to miss the maple creme brulee either- that was quite good.
Stormalong Bay is a beautiful pool complex! But like you, we spend very limited amounts of time at the pool.
Isn't that a riot about the phone booths! I have called once or twice from home. Usually you get busy signals because visitors are picking up the receiver for photo opportunities, but I did reach a father and his little girl one time. I spoke to him on the phone, then he put his daughter on the line. There is a thread on the Theme Park forum board with the results of people's phone calls to the booths. I have the number for the Canadian phone booth tucked away, too!
We had such a great time in Washington. Our Disney touring style definitely came in handy! And reserving tickets in advance, and lining up early for Washington Monument tickets (which ran out quickly) definitely felt Fast Pass-esque

For those of you following along since the beginning, when I recapped last year’s trip, you will recall that I am very proud of the day I visited 4 different parks (AK, BB, HS and EP). Plus Boma! Our planned line-up of activities for this day was similar. AK, BB, Boma, HS to return to Beach Club. Where do I see fireworks?
Danish of the Day: Apple
We arrived at the bus stop at 7:30, a bus to AK was right there! We arrived at AK around 8 AM and rented a locker to stash our swim stuff for Blizzard Beach.
Most of the crowd headed to either Expedition Everest or the safari. We bucked the trend and visited Dinoland USA.
Last year Mark, Nate and Ben tried Primeval Whirl for the first time. I was riding Everest solo on FP at the time. They really liked the ride, but the lines here can get pretty long, and although it is a FP ride, the FP system was usually not operational. I was a little anxious about riding this, knowing that spinning rides are not my cup of tea, and that this attraction has been dubbed “Primeval Hurl” by some. But my family convinced me to try it. I have to say it was a very brave (and risky) of me to agree to do this as the first ride, so soon after breakfast.
So… I rode.
No stomach complications. A couple of whiplash issues. It was fun. Not a favorite of mine, worth doing again, but only if the line is short.
After PW, we went to a very empty Dinosaur ride. Fun, dark and loud, as always.

We exited Dinoland via Asia, pulled FP for Expedition Everest and checked out Kali River Rapids. The ride was shut down, so we continued on to Africa so we could go on Kilimanjaro Safari before it got too crowded. We got to the ride around 9:10, probably before the non-EMH park guest started to arrive. We had a short wait to ride.
I don't have any photos I love from the safari, but as I was looking at these pictures, it cracked me up that the giraffes seemed to be playing follow the leader:
We explored the Pangini Trail after the safari.
Next we trekked back to Asia. When we arrived, about 10:30 at this point, Kali River Rapids had JUST opened up, we had about a 15 minute wait to ride.
Don't forget your Ziploc Big Bag
Ben got VERY wet!
At 11, it was time to use our FP for Everest. Ben decided to sit this one out, so first Mark and Nate rode, then I rode with Nate.

When we had finished with the Yeti, it was around 11:30, a good time to break for lunch. We walked back to Africa (at this point we had made the trek from Asia to Africa back to Asia back to Africa). We saw DeVine a couple of times on our journeys.
Tamu Tamu- "The invisible restaurant" or "The restaurant that guests forgot"
We ordered 2 burgers, 1 tuna on pita, a smoked turkey pannini, water, 3 milkshakes as dessert and 1 chocolate mousse. I am not a huge milkshake fan, so the mousse was for me. Well, since everyone else had the milkshakes as drinks, when it was time for dessert, everyone attacked my mousse!
Animal Kingdom was getting very crowded and very hot at this point. But we had a secret destination in mind- there is a quiet unmarked trail that runs through Discovery Island. It starts here, just after the bridge from Africa to Discovery Island and ends near the exit of Its Tough to be a Bug.
It was so peaceful, a little cooler due to the trees and there were very few people.
It was nice to get some closeup views and pictures of the Tree of Life.
On our way out of the park, we decided to try Dinosaur one more time. The line said 25 minutes, which is about our threshold of what we are willing to wait for a ride. This is normally one of Bens favorite rides, but he was hot and tired and I think anxious to get to Blizzard Beach. Ben whined through most of the wait and insisted that he wasnt going to ride, and kept asking us to tell the CMs that he wasnt going to ride. I was optimistic, hoping that 1) the posted wait time was overstated- it wasnt and 2) when we actually got to the rover, Ben would decide to ride- he didnt! Ben and I exited through the car to wait in gift shop for Nate and Mark to get back to the future.

We didnt see any shows at AK today, which is a shame. The boys are not really into the shows. They have seen Lion King a couple of times. I love the songs and show, but they are like meh! We saw Finding Nemo for the first time last year and I thought the staging was amazing, but again, the boys claim to be unimpressed. I have heard great things about the Flights of Wonder bird show as well, but that didnt happen either.
We stopped at the locker to pick up our stuff (save that receipt to use at Hollywood Studios locker later). Most of the buses from AK to the resorts will stop at Blizzard Beach first- just check with the bus drivers before boarding. As we headed to the bus stop, we looked at the skies. Hmmm, those clouds look mighty dark. But what are the chances of a thunderstorm on a hot July afternoon in Florida???

The meal at Le Celiier looks amazing. That creme brulée just seems to have my name on it. Sometimes I have the feeling I am the only person at the Dis boards who had never eaten there.
I guess it has something to do with the fact that we live in Canada...
Anyways, thank you for posting the extra pictures of the pools at the Beach Club. Very thoughtful of you. I am sure we would have lots of fun, no matter what.

Ok, just read your latest post.
I am not ashamed to admit I had never even heard of Tamu- Tamu before but that food looks good.
I guess everybody is most impressed with Flame Tree so the other restaurants end up falling into the AK cracks.
I love the idea of the ziplock bag! I was never able to convince my husband to ride the Kali Rapids because he hates the idea of walking around with wet shoes or wet underwear.
You were brave to go on the Primaveral Whirl. I have long ago decided that spinning rides are a "no-go" for me. Glad you did not feel sick at all.
And that Pooh t- shirt puts a smile on my face everytime!

This was our second time eating at Le Cellier. I have to say that it is because of the DIS-hysteria that we booked our reservations here. This place was never on our radar. Give me seafood over steak any day. When Mark and I visited DW before the kids were born, we enjoyed trying out meals at the other countries- Morocco, Japan, Mexico and Coral Reef in FW.
But we have really enjoyed our meals here, especially since Nate's food preference is steak.
You're welcome for the extra pictures. I never even knew that kiddie area was there, until I was working on updating the Yacht & Beach club forum- I took over the FAQ pages in August. So I am glad to pass along this info.
The maple creme brulee is lovely! Creme brulee is on the menus of lots of places at DW and I don't think I have ever had one that disappointed. Even at counter service places (Sunshine Seasons).
Tamu-Tamu: I feel like the restaurant's sole ambassador! A few months ago when Flame Tree was shut down there was a thread asking where to eat- and the only responses were Yak&Yeti and Pizzafari. When I finally mentioned TT, with pictures of course, nobody knew it was there!!! We only ate there for the first time because we couldn't find Flame Tree- we wandered for over 30 minutes, and ended up at the crossroads and we were hot and tired so we gave it a go!
Mark does not like to get wet either so the Ziploc is a must-pack. He even wears quick-dry shorts when we go to AK. The shoes are the crucial thing to keep dry! Is Beatriz tall enough for Kali? How does she feel about getting drenched?
I'll get the Blizzard Beach photos up by the weekend! Boma too!!!

We haven't ridden Kali River Rapids in several years simply because we don't like to get soaked. But, I like your idea of a ziplock bag to keep the shoes dry. Might have to try that (and the locker rental).

Hi Amanda! Yes, our MK day was a lot of fun! We love the morning extra magic hours- we are all early risers so it is not a problem for us to make an 8 AM rope drop. You can get so much done in that first hour or so, collect FP, and then seem to be a few steps "ahead" of everyone who arrives at the park a little later.
It was great to finally spend some time in the pool and then have a dinner at Le Cellier to enjoy after we dried off!
One of the things that I think keep people coming back to trips to Disney is that there is SO much to do, and always something new! Like you, there are many things we have never done- Dumbo, Animation Academy, Flights of Wonder, Stitch (no rush to try this), the EPCOT Character spot free Disney Visa photo, campfire at Beach Club, fireworks and parades inside MK.
There were also a lot of firsts on this trip- Primevil Whirl, Little Mermaid, Ohana, Grand Marnier slushie, Kim Possible, Sum of all Thrills, secret trail at AK.
My family insisted I would be fine on PW, and they were right!
I love Kali! Hope that you get a chance to try it again soon.

I LOL when I saw the pic your posted of your DH carrying that baggie before riding KRR I don't think I've ever seen a baggie THAT big 
but what a great idea! KRR was also shut down the day we were there & it was already late so we missed a ride on it our last trip 
but I'm always torn anyway, between riding or not because I always seem to get the most drenched of anyone in our boat.
My DS loves Primeval Whirl so I'm always stuck riding that thing several times. It was easier this past trip since I've dropped 35 lbs
but still does whip you about. But at WDW I think you just have to go for the gusto & try something AT LEAST once, so good for you 
Your luck has been phenominal this trip so I'm going to guess that when you got to BB, the park was empty due to the looming storm that never happened

Isn't that a great bag!!! Easy to carry empty and so much fits inside. Again, I can't emphasize enough, keep those shoes and socks dry!
There isn't much that scares me because I can rationalize that "This ride is safe". The only thing that will prevent me from trying something is the fear that a ride will make me nauseous and I will feel lousy for awhile.
OK, let's see what happens at Blizzard Beach...

We love combining our Animal Kingdom day with Blizzard Beach. We usually only last a half-day at AK, we always get really hot there and since most AK buses go directly to BB, it makes the travel pretty easy. We also like to follow our afternoon at BB with a meal at Boma, because again, the travel to AKL from BB is very quick and easy. And an afternoon at a waterpark can really work up an appetite!
We arrived at Blizzard Beach around 2:00. We were concerned about being able to find chairs at this time of day, but we ended up finding a couple of loungers in a great location- near the walking paths in the wave pool area, and most importantly, under cover.
We changed into our swimwear and immediately took a dunk in the Melt Away Bay wave pool. The wave pool at BB is pretty calm and was very crowded, so we didn’t spend too much time here.
Next up, we decided to float around Cross Country Creek.
Look at all the lazy people in the lazy river!
My favorite attraction at Blizzard Beach is the Teamboat Springs Family Ride.
You can ride up the chair lifts to get to the queue area or walk up. I think there was a line at the lifts, so we walked.
We got into line for the family ride, and had been waiting about 10 minutes when we heard the first “Boom!”. “What’s that?”
“That’s the sound of a water park getting shut down”
We saw a few flashes of lightning, then we heard the announcements that due to inclement weather, the attractions at Blizzard Beach would be temporarily shut down.
We returned to our loungers and what did we find? Some girls sitting on the chairs with our stuff. I know this is kind of a hot-button issue here on the DIS, but really, you are at water park to use the attractions and you need a place to put your stuff. We had two chairs with our possessions on it. They were our chairs! We were not pleased, and the girls did not move when we sat down on the chairs, but at least they hadn’t touched our things.
Not long after we arrived at the chairs and discovered the squatters, it started to POUR!!! We could still hear thunder and see the occasional flashes.
The boys were getting bored and cranky and hungry. Nate and I went out into the rain to see if we could get some donuts to hold us over, but all of the stands were closed up tight. Our reservations for Boma were for 5 PM. We had to factor in time to change into dry clothes and then get the bus to AKL. We needed to make a decision. Do we stay or do we go?
The rain started to lighten up a bit, and at 3:45 the sirens sounded the reopening of Blizzard Beach!
We returned to Teamboat Springs and got back into a much shorter line since a lot of people left the park.

We know but Tamu Tamu, but sadly I have to say I experienced the worst counter service there. Not bad food, just bad service. I think we waited 30 minutes for our food. And one CM was filling drink orders, well he had so many drinks lined up, there wasn't any counter room and then you had the one poor CM trying to fill orders. I kept wanting to yell at the drink CM to help the other one out and that would eventually make room for him to make more drinks. 
On to nicer things.
Love all your pics and especially the BB ones. I really need to get me a waterproof camera.
Oh, and the Pooh shirt you like, saw a canvas bag in the shop at AKL with that on it. I so want it! But do I really need yet another canvas bag. And this one was too pretty to use, wouldn't want it to get dirty.

Love all your pics and especially the BB ones. I really need to get me a waterproof camera. Oh, and the Pooh shirt you like, saw a canvas bag in the shop at AKL with that on it. I so want it! But do I really need yet another canvas bag. And this one was too pretty to use, wouldn't want it to get dirty.

I've always wanted to go to Blizzard Beach since I was little and still have never been! With it just being my husband & I, we didn't figure out what to do with our stuff while we were swimming & on attractions so we never did it. When we go next time it will be January, so it might not be super hot but I hope we can fit it in!

Thanks! Ben and I enjoy the water more than Mark and Nate do. Except for the family ride, which is MUCH MUCH better at Blizzard Beach, we all prefer Typhoon Lagoon. Ben and I made it there on the last day of our vacation (Friday afternoon)
There is a lot to do at both waterparks for little ones, but I think for now, the water parks would be pretty stressful for you with the kids at their current ages. You would be better off enjoying the resort pools, especially Stormalong Bay, for a few years, IMHO.
We know but Tamu Tamu, but sadly I have to say I experienced the worst counter service there. Not bad food, just bad service. I think we waited 30 minutes for our food. And one CM was filling drink orders, well he had so many drinks lined up, there wasn't any counter room and then you had the one poor CM trying to fill orders. I kept wanting to yell at the drink CM to help the other one out and that would eventually make room for him to make more drinks.

So sorry to hear that Tamu Tamu was Meza Meza for you! I will agree that the the counter service staff was not the best crew we encountered at Disney! This is where we have had the most problems if we don't want to order everything we are entitled to on dining plan. But our longest wait for food on this trip was at the Columbia Harbor House the previous day.
Thanks! I love my underwater cameras. The first Olympus Stylus (now the Tough) served me well. Less impressed when I replaced it and had issues with the Olympus the first time I took it into the water. And now the video on the camera has no sound. I am super pleased with my Canon Powershot D10. The only disadvantages of this one are that it is not as compact as the Olympus, the Panoramic mode is not as easy to manage and it may not be as resistant to dropping. More water park photos will be coming up in my Typhoon Lagoon post.
We have not had a problem leaving our stuff on a couple of chairs anyplace we have gone, including waterparks, the beach, or even foreign travel. That being said, I won't leave anything of value to me unattended. If you have a large amount of cash, or a camera that can't get wet, definitely rent a locker. We have really crappy cellphones ($10 pay as you go units) so nobody is going to steal those, or no great loss if they do!
We have a drypac water wallet that hangs around our neck for our hotel room card and a little cash. You can see it in the photo of my husband in lazy river. He also tries to purchase bathing suits with velcro or zippered pockets.
We did have the girls who invaded our space during the storm, but it was more about them trying to keep dry than it was messing with our stuff.

So sorry for being way behind on the report, and on catching up on everyone else's reports!
I chaired a mother-son dance last week (2010: A Space Odyssey, some great costumes just like SWW) and tonight is opening night for the boys play, Schoolhouse Rock, so I have been hard at work on last minute props and signs for the show.
I will put up a quickie update on Boma (I'll let the food do the talking) and then hope to finish off the day early next week.

We arrived at AKL and checked our bag of wet clothing with the bell services desk. This was a convenient use of the giant Ziploc bag we used earlier in the day at Kali River Rapids.
We really love Boma. I have probably said it before- my only complaint is that there is TOO much offered. Delicious soups, amazing appetizers, yummy sides, exotic entrees, 3 choices of hummus.
I'm going to let photos do most of the talking:
Soups:
Here is a salad of Papaya, Avocado and Grapefruit. I am very adventurous, but this sounded weird, so I didn't get it. Mark tried it though and proclaimed that it was really good, so I tried some, then went up for more
