Can you take Galley tours on DCL ships?

Do they give ship tours that include the Galley areas?

I would love to see what that kitchen must look like.

You bet! I've done them several times....even though it's the same tour, I love seeing it again. And there are always warm cookies waiting at the end!

Great question and as other PP's have said, yes they offer them but only to guests 18 and over.

You might want to grab a Navigator from a cruise similar to what you're taking and get a list of activities. They should be similar. With the Dream, hopefully they'll offer more activities as there are more guests onboard.

You mean my 12 and 10 year old can't take it. They will be heartbroken. They both love to cook. Our favorite channel is Food Network.

I understand the reasoning, but that is too bad. We were all really hoping to see it. Maybe they will get interested in the kids clubs and Momma and I can slip off and see it. I'm always up for cookies

I see in your ticker that you're cruising on the Dream. They only offer the gallery tours on sea days, so if you're on a 3 night, they won't be offering them on your sailing.

I'm sorry, but this is frustrating. I really don't care how they do it (allow kids or not), but they should be consistent. We saw this it was listed as adults only, so didn't even try to ask about our kids joining us even though our older two would have really enjoyed this tour. I guess we'll be asking about our kids in the future so that they can hopefully participate (and probably upset a few other guests in the meantime ).

I know it's frustrating. Both times that I've seen kids, I really was bugged by it. Not that I don't like kids, I have my own.....but what you said is true, they need to be consistent. But there are a lot of "rules" that DCL is not always consistent with.

BTW, the kids didn't bother me as much as the lady who ran down from the pool at the last minute, still in her swimsuit, dripping wet. Something about a person in a bathing suit in the galley just made me lose my appetite for dinner that night.

No, it isn't new. The description has always said "no kids"....but like I said, I've seen them a few times. I guess it might depend on whether or not the tours are filled. Or maybe in some cases, they're allowed if they're concierge guests....I don't know.....

Under 18's being allowed on the Galley Tour are at the discretion of the Galley staff and who is conducting the tour. This past summer on the Magic the CM didn't want to allow a sleeping baby that was in a front carrier on the tour, but in the end the baby was allowed to stay with the parent and allowed on the tour. Once the CM saw other kids that has permission to be on the tour she gave in. The baby never once woke up and no one was bothered the baby was on the tour.
We've always asked Guest Services about taking our teen with us and they have said she was allowed to go and even issued her a ticket.

It doesn't hurt to ask if your kids are allowed. If they are then consider it a bonus. If they can't then don't be too disappointed since it's listed as an Adult event.


BTW....I'd rather see kids and babies on a Galley tour than someone in a dripping wet bathing suit. It's a shame she was allowed to join the tour that way.

Thanks! I'll have to ask next time as our kids would enjoy this tour! Hopefully we'll get a tour guide who's accommodating.

DCL's inconsistency is frustrating to guests who try to follow the rules.

And I too agree about the swimsuit wearing guest. How tacky!
