Where can I find an inventory of available staterooms?

We have our room assignment for our Jan 8-15, 2011 sailing but I'm curious to see what other rooms in our category are available. Is there a way of doing this through the Disney website? I notice that Expedia shows available rooms on each deck, but I don't know how up-to-date this is.

The last time I did a search around the various booking sites, almost all of them, including the DCL site, show 7-8 rooms at a time. If you see 7-8 rooms showing up in every category, you have a sense that the ship hasn't filled up. When you see less than 7 rooms in a category, that usually means that category is almost full. To find other rooms, you have to hunt for them by typing the room number in and seeing if it is accepted or rejected as not available. Other than calling DCL directly, or having your TA look for you, that's the best solution we've come up with thus far.

Didn't realise you can book on DCL against a particular room number. Can you !!? any other online portal allows you to book based on room number or let's you check whether a particular room no is available ?

Sure! When you are on the screen to select a stateroom, the DCL site will bring up a list. There is also a box to type in a stateroom number. Type in the number you are looking for (has to be in the category of room you have selected) and hit save. If that room is available it will appear as your assigned room. If it isn't, then a note will appear saying something like "selected stateroom is not available. We have selected an alternate room for you." Keep searching until you find what you're looking for. But if DCL doesn't show you more than 7 rooms in a category, and the one you are looking for isn't listed, it's a good chance that it is already reserved by someone.
