Video Killed the Trip Report Star: A Little Halloween Magic (Western) Complete!!

Hello friends, freaks, and fans! :wave2:
who you callen freaks... oh wait... lol

After a very long and painful absence I am excited to announce my long anticipated return to the DCL Trip Report forums with a brand-spanking new and revolutionary (drum roll please) TRIP REPORT!
woohoo im finally here always late to the party i know.. thanks for the link didnt know if you would start a pre trippy but glad you did!

Plunging and Springing a Leak on Castaway Cay, not to mention since it is always 5 'O Clock where we are, wasting away at...not one, not two, but THREE Margaritavilles! There will also be a few Tricks and Treats along the way.... plenty to keep you occupied, and hopefully enthralled!
oh you just mentioning 3 margaritavills get me jealous!

I won't talk too much about us, because, well, trust me, later on you'll probably wish I'd just shut up. But I'm Jen. I'm 36, and I'm a cruiseaholic. I have a few interests besides cruising and those include Disney, video editing and production (a-HA!), digital scrapbooking, fires, and photography. The fires part- just don't ask.I JUST HAVE TO... whats with the fire!?

If you get lost along the way, or if we just chatter too much for you in between the segments of what you really want to read, here are direct links to each installment:
oh but the chatter is half the fun

Happy Halloween!
:) Jen

Oh no, not a PTR!!!:scared1: Ok, Ok, it's not really a PTR.;)

Being one of the cast of characters I hope this is a great trip and trip report.:goodvibes

Oh thanks so much! I've been reading yours too- a lot of the time I don't end up posting on TR's since I save them offline to read while I'm at work (no internet for us:sad2:) This should be a fun ride!!! :)

I love that you get involved in the reports Ron, I cant get my hubby to even pay attention to the ports were going to LOL
Yeah he has come a long way since he had to join the Dis just to tell everyone I was in a car accident AND our internet went out like a week before the last cruise!!! :goodvibes

Yes you know someone is....very anti-PTR but If I bill it as an introduction
it's all good. I figured it was pretty close and besides I'm jealous of all the PTR love. ;)

hee hee...I tried waiting to see how long it would take you to find it but you know me, no patience. When you had posted on the one right above it I figured it was time to clue ya in!

oh you just mentioning 3 margaritavills get me jealous!
Can't wait, I don't think we are going to hang out in the KW one, just shop. Cayman has the pool so we'll hang there and booze it up, Cozumel probably again will just shop but we will be coming straight from Nachi where we should have bellies full of beer!

The fires part- just don't ask.I JUST HAVE TO... whats with the fire!?
I never told you? I <3 Fire. In a very odd Beavis & Butthead "FIRE! FIRE! FIRE! kindof way. I know famous fires. I peruse burnt places on youtube. My favorite movie of all time is the Towering Inferno, with Backdraft a close second. Now do you wish you didn't ask?:rotfl2:

oh but the chatter is half the fun
True nuff! :thumbsup2

The good news is you won't have to wait too long, I'm ready to get this party started (now that you're here we can move along LOL!)

Hi Jen,:wave2:

Can't wait to read about your trip report too. Looking forward to meeting you at Grills on Friday!

Let the Party begin in 6 days!!!!!!!!:goodvibes

Vicki

We are four days from vacation and just six from the cruise. aside from the hurricane around here caused by packing (!), the tropics seem relatively tame and hopefully they'll stay that way and it will be smooth sailing ahead.

Here are a few more details of what we have planned!

Thursday 10/28: We will be leaving this morning, stopping for our pre-cruise breakfast tradition at Cracker Barrel. We will drive straight through to the port and check in at Country Inn and Suites. We are hoping to snag a kids' suite, we were told they are first come-first serve. (Considering we bid through Priceline we should just be glad if we end up with a room that HOLDS all of us, as the guarantee is only for a room for 2!)

Once we check in, we'll grab a bite on the road and head back to the Magic Kingdom for Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. This will be our first time, and although this is sure to be one of the busiest parties of the year, I suspect it will be a whole lot of fun. we will be decked out in the height of Dis fashion: Halloween tie dye mickeyhead shirts and dresses!

Friday 10/29: Plans are to have a lazy day, get up late, check out Ron Jon's and spend some time on Cocoa Beach. It's Air Show weekend in Cocoa Beach so crowds will be crazy everywhere. We have an early dinner reservation at Grills at 3:45 for our pre-cruise Dis Meet. After dinner and watching the ships sail out of port we are bringing the party back to the Radisson pool where more cruisers will join us for a fun evening.

Saturday 10/30: Embarkation! We hope to be on the first shuttle to the port from CIS. We will be wearing the logo shirts I made picture below) After boarding we have the Dis meet in the Promenade Lounge at 3 PM. Our rooms are 6132 (Cat 6 verandah) and 6133 (Cat 11 inside). We have requested a specific rotation, which is APPLAPL, which will put us hopefully in Animator's the first night for dinner. I also hope to be able to enjoy some of the first night events we always seem to miss, like Magic Quest.

Sunday 10/31 Key West, FL ~Happy Halloween!~ If all goes well with our dining rotation, this should be our character breakfast morning. After that, it is straight to our Dis Trick-or-Treat Scavenger Hunt event prior to docking in Key West. Once heading into port we will first walk to the Kino sandal shop to buy shoes, then board the Old Town Trolley to take us around old town. We will visiting Margaritaville Key West, The La Concha (a great old hotel we've stayed at before that has a great rooftop overlook), the Southernmost point, the world's best fish sandwiches for lunch at BO Fishwagon, Key Lime Pie on a stick (chocolate dipped, of course), and anything else that strikes our fancy. we'll hop back onboard the ship for Disney's Halloween events, Trick or Treat and the Deck party, then get back off and head to Mallory Square for sunset festivities, for a short time, and then back onboard to watch the actual sun set from our verandah. Kids will be off to their clubs and we have Palo.

Monday 11/1 At Sea: We start off this day with back to back meals at Palo, this time brunch. Beyond that, who knows, should be a fun and relaxing day onboard! This is Formal night and we are looking forward to the new Villains show.

Tuesday 11/2 Grand Cayman: Today we have the Captain Marvin's Half Day Stingray City & snorkel charter. We have decided to do this private excursion which will be exclusively for members of our Dis Meet thread! Afterwards we will head to Margaritaville to relax by the rooftop pool and enjoy some (what else?) Margaritas!

Wednesday 11/3 Cozumel: Today we will be going on another Dis-Meet only excursion to Nachi Cocom Beach Club. This is a gorgeous beach (where they film the Corona commericals), and it's going to be even better filled up with my new friends! There's even a scavenger Treasure Hunt for the kids! Afterwards, another Margaritaville, after all that booze, hopefully we somehow make it back to the boat!

Thursday 11/4 At Sea: Gloriously, we have nothing planned at all this day but to relax and have a blast!

Friday 11/5 Castaway Cay: We will spend the day on the family beach, anxious to explore Pelican Plunge and Spring A Leak!

Saturday 11/6 Port Canaveral :( we will be among the first off the boat, as we will need to rush home for the kids' playoff game.

Packing is almost 75% done, and aside from a few last minute purchases, we're ready to get on with it!!!! :cutie:

Vicki

Hi Vicki, glad to have you onboard the TR! It's going to be so much fun!! Have a safe trip down and we'll see you Friday!!! :woohoo:

Wow - I just realized that if you switch out KW for CC you have our 2008 cruise!! Course, there is so much to do on all of those islands that you can visit several times and have new things to do.

OMG - Magic Quest on the WBTA was hysterical!!! I was actually hoping that since they had it early in the cruise (like the third night), they would schedule another night later in the cruise but they didn't :sad2:. Definitely something not to miss!!!

I forgot to mention that I can't believe this will be your first MNSSHP :confused3. I've been to three (my first was a regular WDW vacation, the second the night before the DD and the last one the Sunday night after the WBTA). Dave and Amy have been more than this (they went twice before the DD - once on there week vacation and then with me the night before - and twice on their honeymoon).

I think you will have some crowds but definitely not as bad as the weekend parties will be! You will have a great time! I love Hallowishes and the Boo to You Parade.

Not only that but we have both Palo dinner and brunch scheduled at exactly the same times, and we did Captain Marvin's the last time too. Heck, why mess with a good thing, right?

I didn't even know what it was all about until I read up on Royal Caribbean (they do the same thing)-we ended up not being able to go on that cruise because it conflicted with one of our reservations, so I'm really looking forward to catching it this time!! :)

Joining to hear about your adventure..Love reading your trip reports! Wish you and your family the best of time.

I do have to ask was is Magic Quest?

Thanks so much for reading! I'm so glad you enjoy the trip reports!!! :goodvibes

I do have to ask was is Magic Quest?

It is an adults kind of scavenger hunt with a twist. It's hard to explain without spoiling it (kind of) but you break into teams and work together to find and...er....display the items as requested the fastest and best. You don't go around the ship- it's stuff most folks would tend to have onhand. I haven't actually attended one yet but from what I've read you don't want to know too much- it's the spontaneity that makes it fun!

Jen, do you know when they usually do this? Is it on the first night and do you know around what time?

Traditionally yes it has been the first night and I do believe it is 10 PM or possibly 11 PM. One of the 10/16 folks should be scanning and posting their Navigators really soon so I will be watching closely for those to go up and double check.

This will be the first time we are staying at the port and not getting up at 3-4 AM to drive over from home the day of the cruise so I'm looking forward to not being as exhausted the first evening and having some FUN!:thumbsup2

Thank you for letting me know about Magic Quest, we like you are always exhausted the first night..Probably why I have missed this night. We fly in from North Dakota and first night we fall asleep right after dinner!

Will definately have to force ourselves to stay awake to enjoy Magic Quest.

We are staying at CI&S this January before our cruise. Can not wait to hear about your experience with this hotel and shuttle if you are using.
You are so close now. I love the shirts and Mickey Mouse head shirts/dresses you made for your family. You are so creative!

I agree! In the past we have had problems with the Club/Lab only being "Family Time" the first night as well, but now with the big kids old enough to be in Edge/Out & About (which, looking at the new Navigators do appear to be up and running in full capacity the first evening) means it's party time for mommy & daddy. LOL!

We are using the shuttle (doing Park & Stay or whatever it is they call it- costs $20) so I will let you know all about how it works! :)

Oh thank you so much! I couldn't have done it without the help of wonderful folks on these boards! :goodvibes

And thanks so much for reading!!! :)

Jen - just wanted to tell you to have a great time!!!!! I know you mentioned that you are leaving tomorrow and you might be too busy to check back on here but just in case....

ENJOY!!!!
