Suggestions for different rooms on the Fantasy??

I'm exhausted, but not exhilerated like I normally am after I book a cruise.

I just booked the Fantasy & I'm normally a "just give me a SPH girl" or for Alaska I got a verandah w/ an inside room across. I had a hard time finding a low cat #/price verandah or a low #/price oceanview w/ a room directly across the hall. The only ones we could find were all the way at the front. I've been experiencing more seasickness each cruise & I really feel it the farther forward we are.

I don't like those new hallways at the back of the ship. You can't get rooms directly across from one another. :sad2:

Maybe I wasn't asking for the right room #s or DCL rep wasn't finding them b/c they're already booked. :worried:: I really want 2 rooms b/c my boys need to be separated at times--all three (DH, DS13, DS10). I'm trying to keep my price around $6,000 or less for the June 30, 2012 Eastern.

I wound up booking adjoining Cat 8D rooms.

Help! Any suggestions? Thank you experts for any ideas. :flower3:

I've got a massive :headache:, so I'm going to go take some Advil & lay down.

Can't help much. We were disappointed with the lack of verandah/inside room combos on the new ships. We ended up getting one of the few available on Deck 7. The doors are not directly across from each other, but they are very close due to the fact that the Cat 11's are mostly sideways on the upper decks.

If you want a verandah/inside room combo, you must have to book very quickly!! I was glad we got one yesterday.

BTW - We had connecting Cat 8's for 15 nights on our Panama Canal cruise and loved them. Our boys were 13, 11 and 6 at the time!

It looks like there are only 3 of the ones you mentioned that aren't too far forward for me.

I really do want the space. I've got 2 rooms for Alaska next year & I know I'm going to love it. At least from Alaska onward I'll have the 10% discount on 2 rooms, if we keep doing 2 rooms.

I can't imagine not having the 2 rooms on a 15 night cruise. I have to wait until retirement to do PC cruise. I'm a :teacher: & we can't take more than 2 personal days & they can't be w/ any holiday breaks/3day weekends.

Thanks for posting your frustration re: new ships w/ inside/verandah combos. It helps to know it's not just me. :flower3:

Looked again on Deck 7 w/ sideways near a verandah--no luck!

Any other ideas?

I hear you Mary. I am not thrilled about the interior hallways either. That being said, I booked an 8D and 11B on deck 6 aft for the 6/16/12 Eastern sailing. We moved a dummy date, so the 10% OB rebooking discount applied. The total for the 2 cabins (4 people) was $4745.88. The price difference between the 8D and 11B (2 people in each) was $327.54. Hmm, maybe for that price I'll call back and try to get connecting 8Ds.

We were originally thinking about the 6/30 sailing, but the price jump from 6/16 was really steep, so we decided to go with 6/16. I think it's a combination of later in the summer plus a holiday that jacked up the price so much.

My DDs will be 13 and 11 on that trip and have behaved very responsibly on our 2 previous cruises, so I'm comfortable with the slight separations in our cabins. However, I made sure that they were not in a connecting cabin. I don't want them connected to strangers.

ETA: I did call and change the 11B to an 8D, so now we have connecting rooms. Unfortunately, now I'm going to have to look at their messy room more often. :lmao:

Did you look at booking connecting cat. 9's? They are still oceanview and would be cheaper than the 8D's you have booked.
There are many more connecting cabins on the Dream/Fantasy. Those of us that don't need to book connecting cabins are finding it frustrating in booking a non-connecting cabin.

This was my problem this morning. We don't want or need a connecting cabin. The options were limited. I changed our cabin location 4 times this morning already!

We finally ended up in a Cat. 5C on Deck 7, towards the Aft. It's drawback is how close it is to the Aft stairs/elevators. Hoping it's not going to be too noisy.

Originally, we booked a Cat 6A, but the only staterooms were on Deck 10 (directly underneath Cabanas buffet).

Glad to know I'm not the only one. Normally we cruise in mid June, but now that eldest DS will be in h.s., he gets out 1 week later & then we have to be careful of snow days. Ugh!

Thanks jilljill! :flower3: I tried your idea, but the only ones left are all the way forward & the further forward I am the worse my seasickness usually is--even w/ meds.

I appreciate everyone's ideas. It helps me to know that I'm probably in good spot & that I need to be GOLD to grab the room combos I'll need in the future.

But any other ideas will be appreciated. :flower3: I can keep looking on the computer, as people keep switching rooms. I'll be offline until late tonight. I've got to go grade!!!!:teacher:
