Fantasy booking questions

I'll be able to book tomorrow but have some questions for you the experts!

1. What is a category T and V?

2. I am looking at doing a Verandah, category 5 I think. What difference do the letters make? I guess I mean is a 5A THAT much better than a 5B?

3. I am trying to look at floor plans. We have a family of 4. On the Magic and Wonder they had a pull down from the wall that made it like bunk beds, will it be like that on the Fantasy? Can't really tell from the website.

4. Is category 4 worth the money to upgrade to a bigger room? our kids will be older teens, not sure if that makes a difference.

5. Anyone have an idea of what decks are those to AVOID if you have a verandah?

6. Transfers? Isn't Disney transportation free?

7. Why not buy insurance? Or, do you buy it from somewhere else?

It also tells the difference in a cat. T and V.

The letter after the number is location on the ship.

Pull down berths will be on the Fantasy.

DCL transfers are not free they are $35/person each way.

I'll answer what I can. The categories have changed a little from what I was accustomed to using on the Magic. Category T is a Concierge level one bedroom suite. Category V is a Concierge level family oceanview stateroom with a veranda. In Category V, you get some of the perks that the suite guests receive (i.e., access to the Concierge Lounge on the Dream and Fantasy, access to a private sundeck, and similar types of benefits).

I think the ground transfers are $35 per person, each way. (I may be wrong b/c we've stopped using DCL ground transfers.)

I can answer the category 4 question from our point of view. We get connecting category 4's. My husband and i will not share a room with our 4 kids. Our oldest is a 6'5" boy -- he NEEDS the big bed all to himself or his back (which he is already rehabbing for a back injury) will be bothering him even more. That leaves the other three beds for our girls.

Disney transportion from MCO to the Port is $69 roundtrip per person. For our family we use a private limo service and fly in the night before -- it is actually more cost effective for us and less hassle (we do not have to wait in any lines and it is on our time table not anyone elses). Also, we fly in the night before because we do NOT want to get up at &%^$ crack of dawn to start our vacation (my husband's words -- he does not 30+ weeks a year for work). We stay at the Radisson at the Port using points the night before.

Some people try to avoid being right under the pools because of the noise of deck chairs being moved. Those are Cat 4 staterooms BTW

There are opinions about being toward the front, the back, or in the middle concerning movement of the ship.

There are opinions about being close to the elevators or away from the elevators (ease of movement vs noise/traffic)

Location, location, location.....that is usually the difference in the letters after a category. The 5A's are on a higher deck than the 5B so that is why they are more money....I am pretty sure the cabins themselves are exactly the same but many equate higher as being better but one or two decks really does not make much of a difference IMO.

Only you can decide if you want more room in a Cat 4 opposed to a Cat 5...you know your family best. have you looked into possibly getting a verandah and an inside across the hall for the teens...sometimes it works out cheaper and you have twice the space.

Here is the deck plan for the Disney Dream.....a Cat T is a one bedroom suite with concierge service and verandah and is bigger than the Cat V which is a family verandah stateroom with concierge service....you can see the size difference in deck plan.

DCL transfers are $70 per person round trip....it is different than the ME service that is complimentary if you are staying at a WDW resorts. DCL transfers you must pay for. You can pick up the bus either at WDW if you are there first or from MCO to the port.

Insurance will cover you if you or a family member gets sick and has to cancel or be airlifted to the mainland from an island which is very costly. There are many reasons to get insurance and we prefer to buy from an outside vendor like www.insuremytrip.com

Check to see what your own health insurance or corporate benefits cover. In our case my husband's company covers international medical expenses for the whole family including medical transfers back to US -- this is not common but it does exist. Don't pay for what you don't need. We only need to pay for travel insurance for cancellation for illness.
