I alawyas thought Castaway Club membership was it, no levels, I now understand there is Gold and Platinum, what is the difference, what does one get the other doesn't?

The tiers came into play just about 1 year ago. You can look in the FAQ sticky at the top of the boards to see the different tiers. You can also look on DCL's website for the breakdown and to check what level you are if unsure.

Basically you are Silver until you do 5 cruises. On your 6th you become Gold. Then on your 11th you become Platinum. It doesn't matter what length cruises they are just the number of cruises.

Silver Benefits -> Castaway Club gift, Early booking for Palo etc (90 days I think), OBC credit if you book another cruise
Gold Benefits-> Castaway Club gift, an extra gift, Early booking (105 day mark), OBC credit if you book another cruise
Platinum Benefits -> Castaway Club gift, an extra gift, a welcome platter thing you can have any time (like Shrimp or fruit etc), a special tour (there are different ones offered but one is around Castaway Cay), Early booking (120 day mark), OBC credit if you book another cruise

The OBC is more depending on your category

As said this changed around 1 year ago roughly

You forgot three extra differences between Gold/Platinum and Silver:

Gold/Platinum get to book new ships or itineraries before Silver and the general public.

Gold/Platinum also receive on-board shopping discounts. Generally, that's $25 back for every $100 spent.

Gold/Platinum have an on-board reception thanking them and welcoming them back. Silver's do not get to participate.

Platinum also receives dinner at Palo for no extra cost!

Platinum also receives a choice of a delicious food treat or wine delivered to their stateroom, a behind the scenes tour and other gifts.

And, on your 25th cruise (and I'm sure other milestones) you get an extra, extra special gift!!!!!!!!

How do you prove onboard that you are gold members to get the $25 discount on purchases over $100. I have a castaway card but it doesn't say gold on it.

Your CC level is listed on your KTTW card so there's no getting around it on the ship.

I am a Gold CC Member... so how does the shopping discount work? For every $100 they credit my account $25? Or is it $25 off every $100?

Everytime your purchase is $100 or more in Treasure Ketch or Mickey's Mates you will receive a $25 credit to your stateroom account. Just remember to remind the CM, sometimes they can forget especially when it's busy.
ex: If they ring you up $105 you will get $25 off. If they ring you up for $250 you will still only get $25 off. They will split your purchase so you have 2 orders of more than $100 if you are spending more than $200. I had purchases that totaled just under $200 and I decided to go back and get $10 worth of merchandise so I could get the additional $25 off.

Awesome! Thanks for this info! This helps! I will definitely be doing some shopping on board so I will make sure to do it $100 at a time!
So they credit your stateroom $25 and not take it off right there correct?

That's correct. The credit gets posted that night so you will see it the next day on your account.

I didn't see it mentioned above, but starting in 2011, Gold and Platinum also get a higher level of OBC from DCL for bookings made onboard than the Silvers do. So $275 OBC for Gold on a 7nt versus $200, for example.

If you haven't already, log onto the Castaway Club site, and you'll see your own personalized cruise and status counter, a list of your future and past cruises, and can also click on the official details and comparison of the various levels.

And the $100's have to be spent in one go. Also I think you get the discount as many times as the number of people in your room. So if there are 4 people you get 4x$25 if you spend 4x$100 in the shop in seperate purchases

Wait... what? My sister is in the room with me but she isn't a Gold member, she is silver. How does that work again?
