Basking in the Glow of the (not so) Creepy Clown -2/11-Pictures, Final Thoughts, PTR!

Great updates, Brook. I love that you spent so much time in Toontown. It is so sad to see it go. But as you said, we're looking forward to the future too. Henry takes the cutest pictures. Have you been showing him the pics of "my Grumpy" with all the hat pics? ;)

P.S. I sent you a PM.

Oh wow! Fabulous news about your Mom!!! I love that picture of her in epcot! Too cute!!!

Not sure how I missed the news about your mom but "YAAAAAA!!!!" That is great news!

Your day sounded fabulous!!! I am so hoping the houses are still there when we go in December... If not you may see a grown woman cry!

You were dangerously close to a merging of our threads! All the gagging that might have ensued.... :rotfl2:

:lmao:

Love all of the Fantasyland updates. Did Henry really enjoy the Racetrack? I haven't been on that since I was a kid and am debating for this trip. We'll see!

Henry loves the racetrack! It's so slow moving and unthrilling, but to him he's REALLY driving a car. It's not his fave - he doesn't talk about it much here at home - but when he sees it and is on it, he's very excited!

:faint:

Having family in the Orlando area....priceless!

I KNOW! I'm PSYCHED!! She can totally swing in on our trips too and stay with us for a few days, I love it!

Yay for your Mom!! How exciting for all of you!! She look very happy in Epcot. And here is some popcorn:: for the update

It is very, very exciting. I'm so happy for her! She loved Epcot too - she mentioned that they were there all day and she felt like they barely started. ::yes::

Couldn't have said it better myself, Glen.

Congrats to your Mom, Brook. It sounds like it is all working out.

It finally is for her. She's had a LONG, hard few years --okay, like long, hard 10 years. I'm thrilled for her!

That is a fantastic thing for everyone. :cloud9::cloud9:
We have family about 45 minutes away from WDW and, if nothing else, it is at least an excuse to seem less crazy to non-Disney folk. My best friend just does not get the whole Disney obsession thing. So I usually play up more the fact that we have to go see great grammy and the aunts and uncles. Of course we only do that for one out of eight days but it makes me seem less crazy. Although I'm pretty sure she, at least, sees right through it. but maybe others buy it.:confused3

I wish your mom and her fella lots of happiness. And maybe a Disney wedding in the future. :rolleyes1

 I didn't think about it that way! I use the "Oh, we love it, we have a timeshare down there." excuse - people nod and smile with that usually. Even if we didn't have DVC we'd be there at least once a year though!

How exciting for your mom! And how awesome for you having family in Florida!

:cloud9::cloud9::cloud9:

It is very exciting for her. The other day they both changed their Facebook status to "In a Relationship" and the whole family erupted. It was fun! Kinda funny the Facebook caused such an online "party" though! :rotfl:

Yea for your mom and you!:goodvibes Has she ever been to the world before?

Nope, this was her first trip! Her now boyfriend (man, it feels kinda weird to call him that! I've known him my whole life), suggested Epcot - it was a perfect park choice. And they got in FREE since he knows someone who works there! :thumbsup2 I look forward to taking her to MK with Henry sometime though!

So exciting. Not only for your Mom but for you guys too. :yay:

It all sounds so wonderful.

It really is! Now, can I convince her to WORK for Disney so we can get free park passes from her???? ;)

Great update Brook!! First off, Im so happy for your mom and YOU! That is great to have family in FL:cool1:
I grew up in Winter Park, FL and was about 30 mins away from WDW......we lived there when WDW opened and back in the day when there was only the MK! That will be so much fun for you guys:thumbsup2
I love all the pics you took in Toontown. We really should have taken more when we were there in May. You and Henry look so cute in the Minnie ears :)
Alexa rode the Barnstormer on our trip and was a little unsure. Im hoping that she will like it more on our next trip. She did LOVE that little playground in front of the train station:lovestruc

Joe and I have talked about moving to FL before. Now living here in NYC I couldn't imagine it, but we still joke about it. If we lived 30 minutes away we'd probably be there a few times a month!

We tired to avoid the playground in Toon Town, but Henry had eagle eyes! :rotfl: It's a fun little area, but we were hoping to skip it! All well! It's his vacation too, right? :goodvibes

So great about your mom! So happy she's found someone that makes her that happy.

Great time in Toontown. I got to Toontown just to check out that store hehe

My parents have been divorced for almost 15 years, she's had a few serious relationships - but this one seems really solid since they have known each other for so long. For her, I truly hope he makes her happy and it does work out. I know it's her desire to at least be with someone, if not get married again. I'd love it for her!

That Toontown store is AWESOME! I never realized!

Ah yes, I am a veteran of the diaper changing tables in Toon Town:lmao:. All too familiar. Let me ask you, is he potty training at all? Did training or not play into your trip? I had really wanted to have Brady PTd by our trip. It will also be his third birthday. We are working on it now. He has crazy bowel movements so we are having some difficulty. I swear he will be diagnosed with IBS or something worse as an adult. Anyway, I just really want to be down to diapering only one by that trip. Otherwise it is so many diapers and so many stops each day. Let me know your thoughts.

Nope, no potty training yet. I didn't do it before the trip at all because we had just moved/gotten settled here - I didn't want to introduce something else. I attempted just after the trip and he is soooooooooo not into it. Not even a little bit. He loves the underwear I bought him, and I even told him we'd go on Mickey's Boat (a cruise! I promised the kid a cruise!), which he's really excited about - but still, nope, no potty.

Someday!

Wish I could help though! I do believe Jill (BrooklynnsMommy) was in the midst of potty training Brooklynn on one of their past trips and she was just really diligent about stopping more often and it went really smoothly.

Yay for your mom! how wonderful.
Love the update. I do hope to make back to Toontown before it closes too. I want to really take in some more of the house details like you did.

I truly thought Toontown would be closed by now, I'm so glad it's not! Maybe they are going to keep it open through the new year? :scratchin

I am sad to see it go, it's such a cute area, but I very, very much look forward to the new! It will be great! I hope they keep the houses somewhere in the park though, they are adorable.

I haven't shown any of your pics to Henry, but I should! He'd LOVE them!!!! I think I'll have to do that tomorrow morning when I get caught up on your thread!

I haven't read/replied to any PMs, but I'll do that quick here after I post this.

Oh wow! Fabulous news about your Mom!!! I love that picture of her in epcot! Too cute!!!

Isn't she looking awesome? She has gotten better looking with age! Seriously! I hope I'm that hot when I'm in my 60s! I tell her that and she just groans at me, but really!

She loved Epcot - they didn't ever really stop to eat anywhere (first question I asked ), but snacked their way through. She looks forward to going back!

Not sure how I missed the news about your mom but "YAAAAAA!!!!" That is great news!

Your day sounded fabulous!!! I am so hoping the houses are still there when we go in December... If not you may see a grown woman cry!

I'm so thrilled for her! She's already started working on her 2 year plan - throwing out stuff she doesn't need, downsizing her life, saving money, paying debt, etc.!

I really hope they are still there in December! My guess is since they aren't gone yet, they will remain through to the new year. The parks are SO BUSY over Christmas, I can't imagine them having a whole land closed. :scared1: But, who knows! I haven't heard any rumors or anything about it at all yet. Seems like no one has recently!

Holy cow, you're up late!!! Loved seeing (likely ) your last photos of Snoozetown. Actually, I shouldn't say that- it's great for kids just about Henry's age, and it sure looks like he loved it!! Glad you got to spend a bunch of time back there!

Did I really see that cutie pie of yours getting into his very own Tate O'Patty?!!!?? Your kid rocks!

OMG Brooke - Your updates keep getting better and better!

First of all, congrats to your mom for making the decision to move to Florida. I think that is absolutely wonderful. Denny's college roomate and his wife (they have no kids) took 7 years to sail around the world. They left in 1989 (the year we got married). When they returned they vowed they would never live in a cold climate again, so they moved to Daytona Beach. They absolutely love it every day of the lives. They both agree that it is the best move they could ever have made. And then their family started to follow - his father, then his brother, and I think his sister (her family stayed in NJ :confused3). Anyway, we had Thanksgiving dinner with them one year and they ALL agreed it was the best change they could ever have made. I'm sure your mom will feel the same way. It's such a liberating change.

Now, back to your TR. Your pictures of minnie's house are stellar. You captured so many great details. So many things I've not see before. Henry looks like he is thoroughly enjoying himself. And Buzz Lightyear / Mr Potatoe Head looks like a winner to me. Excellent update.

FYI - Jen and I posted our BLT pictures this week, so stop on over. There is a page with links to make it easy for your to find!

So exciting for your mom! That's awesome!

Fun Toon Town update! I am not sure when it is supposed to close, either. Minnie's house is always fun to play in, and the gift shop is one of the best, I think. Henry is so smart to realize how fun gift shops are! The headbands are too funny!

Yay for your mom moving to Florida!!! We love having family in Florida - they are three hours from Mickey - but it's a great excuse to visit every year! :cool1:

Love your ToonTown visit too... we haven't been in forever & now we may never see it again! :sad2:

Great update Brook & I am so happy for your mom. What better state to move to right??? :cool1:

Looks like Henry was having a great time in Minnie's House. You got some great pics:thumbsup2

I remember that gift shop being huge but have not made in their for quite a few years. With my "boys" being 20 &16 last visit we do not visit that part of the park.

Fabulous toontown update!!! It looks like you had a lot of fun! I'm sad to see it go! Although I am interested in what the future holds, especially now that they announced that the plans have changed and the changes will be a little less princess based!

Did I really see that cutie pie of yours getting into his very own Tate O'Patty?!!!?? Your kid rocks!

I was up late last night, he he. We had an adventure to the mall buying Henry some much needed winter gear, he took a BIG fall and I got all worked up. He's TOTALLY FINE, 100% - it scared him more than hurt him, but I had to distract my mind last night so I wouldn't be tossing and turning thinking about it. Took a while to wind down! :goodvibes

Anyway, I agree - Toon Town is a bit of a bore except for the little ones. It's very cute, but there just isn't much there. I'm glad we have gone the few times we have back there, but I truly will only miss the houses (and I hope they keep those!).

Yes, my child rocks. ::yes::  He LOVES his Tate! And if he had girl pieces I'm certain it would be cross-dressing as well!

OMG Brooke - Your updates keep getting better and better!

That is WONDERFUL to hear about your friends! I've heard so many great things about living in Florida, only a few people seem to not like it. I'm certain my Mom will love it - she just hates the cold winters more and more each year. And Minnesota is COLD!!!!

There is so much in Minnie's house, isn't there? I tried to capture stuff that I don't already have a picture of from our previous trips. I tried to look high and low for things I would generally miss. I sure do hope they keep those houses, they are too cute!

:hyper: about BLT! I'm so far behind on the DIS from not having much time lately/being too tired to read. I will get over there ASAP!

So exciting for your mom! That's awesome!

I agree, that gift shop really is one of the best. It's got a little bit of everything, which I love! I bet the new Fantasyland will have a massive one too, that will be fun!

Yay for your mom moving to Florida!!! We love having family in Florida - they are three hours from Mickey - but it's a great excuse to visit every year! :cool1:

Love your ToonTown visit too... we haven't been in forever & now we may never see it again! :sad2:

I'm really looking forward to visiting her in Florida. Being able to spend a few days at her place, then head over to WDW - or have her join us at WDW for a few days....ahhhh! That will be so nice! I have been dropping not so subtle hints that she should work for Disney part time since I know she wants to keep a job. :rotfl:

Great update Brook & I am so happy for your mom. What better state to move to right??? :cool1:

I remember that gift shop being huge but have not made in their for quite a few years. With my "boys" being 20 &16 last visit we do not visit that part of the park.

Henry had a ball in Minnie's house! He really enjoyed all the little interactive things and things he could climb on/touch. It would be great if they made Mickey's house like that too if they keep them.

What your grown up boys don't want to play around and go down teeny-tiny slides??? :rotfl2: ;)

Fabulous toontown update!!! It looks like you had a lot of fun! I'm sad to see it go! Although I am interested in what the future holds, especially now that they announced that the plans have changed and the changes will be a little less princess based!

I was pretty happy when they announced it would be less princess based as well! ::yes:: I love the princesses, and I know while Henry is young it truly doesn't matter to him, but as he gets older he probably wouldn't like it as much. It will be interesting to see what they will do - I sure wish some of those plans would leak!!!!

Wow, I really need to catch up, but this CM caught my eye.

It didn't surprise me, what he did for Henry.

I took my friend to Beaches and Cream, when I checked into the BC last February. She has never been to WDW and I took her along when I checked in. Our dh's were at a convention and after the convention we were coming to WDW for a few days. Anyways, I told him, this was her very first time at WDW, and I was showing her some of the resorts and how to get around on the busses and mono-rail. We both shared a turkey sandwhich, chips, etc. He gave us free ice cream. Then when it was time for our bill, he said, "first timers don't get a bill." :cheer2: We left him a nice big tip, that covered the meal, plus his tip. CM's like this, really make what is special about WDW.

Great updates!

How wonderful and exciting for your mom. Not to mention how exciting it must be for you! :goodvibes

Glad to hear Henry had a great time playing with the Potato heads and exploring Minnie's house and :thumbsup2 on the pictures.

Great news about your Mom! I love the pictures of ToonTown. I haven't been there too much - my boys were all about the big rides when we were there and had zero interest in Mickey's house. Too "old" at 5 and 7, I guess...

How exciting for your Mom!!! I can only imagine how excited you are that your Mom is so happy and that she will be so close to Disney.

A great day in Toon Town...I am interested to see how they change it and am happy that they aren't making things so Princess focused as originally planned also. Henry is too cute asking for a cookie. It looks like tons of fun in that Gift Shop.

I bet you head to Buzz Lightyear next...maybe Henry will be able to shoot the gun himself!

It is so fabulous to have relatives in FL! My parents moved about 45 minutes away from Disney (Lake Wales) a few years ago. Now I can "visit my parents" and sneak a trip in to WDW too! My Dad always reminds me that anytime I want to visit the parks, he knows this quaint little bed & breakfast about 45 minutes from the parks ;)

They love it down there, they go golfing on weekends and then come back and watch football in the pool.

Also: the Barnstormer is staying, just getting rethemed. At least if I remember correctly :)

Trying to catch up and I am almost there. I just finished page 50. Thanks for the shout out for the Early Oct. Fantasyland pictures. They are moving fast with the construction so every day you can see changes.

A few more pages to go but I figured I would post to let you know I am trying to catch up.

Okay, I cant find Poolrats pictures of the Fantasyland Construction.....she just posted on your trip report and that made me remember that I couldnt find them when I looked. Can Poolrat or Brook post me a link please.....remember, I am computer challenged:scared1:
