Just guessing, but I assume the poster is referring to the Royal Street Veranda at the start of Royal Street in New Orleans Square.

Waste of money! I tried to be positive, but it was chaotic and unorganized. The food was not very good at all, and the characters snubbed our table. My son would not eat because he saw all the little kids touching food and putting it back, noone was bothering to watch the buffet line at all.

Loved this counter service we ate there twice,had nice views of the river and the boats passing by,it gets quite busy at lunchtime but if you walk downstairs less busy.

Fried green tomato sandwich-highly recommend,lots of filling and came with delicious sweet potato fries *****


I think this was the cheeseburger, again with sweet potato fries


Blue ribbon bakery-Main street USA
Stopped in here for a quick snack twice

Cinammon roll served with hot pecans and caramel sauce,bun itself was quite dry on the outside but soft on the inside.


Cinnamon roll again but with cream cheese this time,did not enjoy the topping on this,too cheesy for me

We stopped here for lunch,we shared one of the salad bread bowls,we had a fish one,there was meant to be egg in it but it was just a prawn cocktail, I don't recommend this as the bowl was quite tough to eat and did not turn out like the description on the menu.

We love Goofy's Kitchen, totally worth it if you have young children who want to meet the characters. Food is good, especially for kids, and meeting all of the characters without waiting in lines in the parks is awesome. Park food is so expensive anyway, so might as well splurge on a good meal with added perks

Love this new thread but I don't see anything on WOC. Could anyone tell me the best way to view WOC? DH has a partial disablitiy from back surgery and can't stand around in one place for extended amount of time. He can start out on his own but is usually in a wheelchair by afternoon or evening after a day at a park. I was hoping to do the preffered viewing fastpass at Ariel's or Wine County Trattoria. Has anyone done this? Which restaurant do you prefer and what was the viewing area like? I am doing the Preferred Seating Dessert package for Fantasmic because he can sit down but I have heard that the WOC viewing area does not have seats.

Nice post. I am not a fan of seeing pictures late at night when I cannot go down to the kitchen for a snack without waking all the sleeping members of my household. That food sure looks good and is making me quite hungry.




It has been a little over a year since my last DLR trip, so I will refrain from posting a review for now. After our next trip, I will post some reviews. Our upcoming trip is at WDW, so I will fill that section in first though. Sorry.

Would love to post a review of the new DCA locations but they aren't there yet. I don't have pictures of my food, but I do have some great things to share.

Missing is Bayside Brews, Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta, Paradise Garden Grill.

These are new so I understand why they aren't there just yet. In fact the Disney web site still lists them as "coming soon" but I ate there just yesterday and have some real positive things to say.

We just got back after two weeks in Anaheim - 10 of which we spent at either DL or DCA (Kiwis and Aussies can get a 14 day pass)

Because our dollar, for once, was relatively strong, we could afford to eat in the parks - something that was a bit of a treat on past trips!

We were generally impressed at most of the food offerings, with a few notable exceptions! FWIW, here are some thoughts from Down-Under Foodies:

Pacific Wharf eateries in DCA: I enjoyed the fajita salad from Cocina Cucumonga and DH LOVED the bread bowl from Boudin Bakery - such great chewy sourdough bread with a delicious crust. He had it with the chicken salad first and then another day when it was chilly outside, we all had the bread bowl with broccoli cheese soup - yum! You need to ask for lots of butter to spread on your bowl as you rip it apart though!
Not so great were the offerings from the 'Dulce - something' bakery counter: a very dry crumbly brownie that we took back, it was so bad, and a cupcake with horrible industrial tasting frosting. First time I ever seen the kids leave frosting behind on their plate!

Corn Dogs from the little Red Wagon in DL Main St: - I didn't know corn dogs could be so good! We have them at home with horrible batter and grey, spooky looking sausages inside, but these were really tasty and filling - not cheap, but they didn't taste cheap either!

Hungry Bear Cafe in Critter Country: I enjoyed my fried green tomato sandwich and sweet potato fries - a nice change to have a tasty vegetarian option. It almost felt healthy!

Golden Horsehoe: Our sons split the adult chicken nugget meal between them - it was a generous serve and good quality chicken. They LOVED the root beer floats! (Generally, we found it seemed to be a good option to split an adult meal between two kids, rather than buying two kids' meals - often our two boys didn't like the look of the kids menu offerings either.) Chili cheese fries which DH and I shared were also good.

Blue Ribbon Bakery: Wow - what is the deal with the coffee at the parks? (Actually, coffee in many places in CA!) So bad - I'd take it back and get real specific with my request (an extra shot of espresso, only half fill the cup with milk please) and still it would be weak, bitter and blah - no wonder so many people just go for a frozen frappuccino thing instead, the hot stuff is so bad! The filter/drip coffee was also pretty awful too.
On the plus side, the macaroons were excellent - moist, coconutty yum! Cinnamon rolls - meh - probably good when fresh from the oven, but twice mine were dry on the outside and nuked so long by the server that the frosting quickly melted into a puddle. Cinnabon are still the gold standard.

Carnation Cafe: I wanted to love this place, I really did - having read so much about it on the Disboards over the years. We had breakfast here on our last day - I got the cafe scramble - the eggs were over cooked and dry and not very warm - the cheese never melted. The potatoes were the best thing on the plate. The kids' Mickey Waffles were cute, but again, not warm. DH had the benedict croissant which he rated "okay" - and again, pretty bad coffee.
I guess what I felt was the food wasn't bad, but you can get so much better for less at Mimi's - but of course, it's not on Main St USA!

Dole Whip: love the Dole whip - and the float - with the Tiki Room as a setting how could anything be less than delicious!??!

Cafe Orleans: We went here twice - we are not fans of the Monte Cristo (just too, too much) so didn't have that - but those pommes frites - OMG - how good are they?! We had them twice - so much parmesan and garlic - yum yum yum!
We split a basket between the two of us and then split beignets for dessert - also very good, fresh, hot crispy-fluffy and excellent!
The boys had two Halloween desserts on our first visit as a treat: the Jack Skellington coffin brownie - very good, great presentation, moist and darkly chocolately, and the pumpkin tiramisu cupcake thing in the Mickey pumpkin demitasse.
To us, pumpkin is a vegetable - we use it to make soup or roast it to have with meat - (occassionally I have made pumpkin pie) so the concept of pumpkin tiramisu sounded horrific, but DS11 enjoyed it - it didn't really taste of pumpkin - and loved his souvenir cup. I still can't get my head around Jamba Juice offering a pumpkin shake however! (shudder)

I appreciate all the reviews and it got me excited! I have never eaten in any of the restaurants and plan to a lot this next trip. If I was to just make up a budget, would it be probable to plan on $80 per adult per day when eating in DLR? I realize the restaurants vary but I'm trying to come up with a bit of a savings plan for our DLR trip in December.

Fried Green tomato sandwich - This was just ok. The tomato was really fried and there was not much tomato taste to this. It could have been a veggie patty or even a bland burger patty. The accompanying sweet potato fries were good but I like sweet potatoes.

Lemon Bumble bee cupcake - Fabulous! I think the WDW cupcakes are too dry and sugary so I was a bit worried. The lemon cupcake portion was a little on the dry side but it was not too sugary and the lemon taste was great. What made this was the 'frosting' which tasted more like a light cheesecake. It was so good you could eat just the frosting. But the cupcake and topping were very good together.

Trixies Pie (peach) - Very good. This was better than most quick service desserts and pies. Of course it is not as good as homeade, but the crust was fairly flaky (at least on top) and the peach pie filling had chunks of cooked peaches and was not just a peach juice concoction.

Le Special de Monte Cristo - Fabulous! I don't normally have something so fattening but it was too good to pass up. The batter is so light and fluffy on the sandwich and they do a great job at the egg batter portion on the bread. It is not weighed down at all but very light. The sandwich is excellent but it is fried so it is a little greasy. The scalloped potatoes and green beans served with it were excellent too. The downside is the portion is massive and I could not even eat half. For $25 too, it is a lot of money. They do serve this with the table bread (I had a bite so I didn't fill up but at least tasted it - it's good sourdough) and a salad. I had the regular salad and I was glad I did - they served it with gorgonzola, cranberries, and candied pecans - yum!

The restaurant itself is really neat that it sits in the POTC attraction. But I ate alone and they gave me the worst table in the restaurant - in the back and next to the kitchen door. I did not care because I was alone but it would have been bothersome to have a conversation or have a big table full of people with all the activity. I think the tables near the water would be really cool!

Ham & Cheese Quiche - Very good - The eggs were so light and fluffy - just perfect. The ham and cheese were not too salty as it can sometimes be in such a dish and the pastry was just right for a quiche.

Cinnamon Roll - YUMMMMMMMMM - Everyone raves about Main Street Bakery's Cinnamon rolls at WDW but I find them just ok so I was curious about these but they are so much better! I'm sure it is the warm, buttery/creamy (cream cheesey???) topping they put on it! The cinnamon roll itself is soft and tasty but the frosting/topping is what makes it. And it is suprisingly not too sugary.

Danish twist - It was okay. I love WDW cheese danishes so I was hoping for more on this half cheese/half cherry danish. But it was something a grocery store might sell - which is fine but not anything spectacular.

ICED Caramel Macchiato - This is only on the menu as a Caramel Macchiato but I asked for it iced. It was super yummy. It was a little heavy on the caramel sauce on the bottom but I found this was perfect because I could mix up the amount I wanted to get just the right amount of sweet (and leave the rest on the bottom if I didn't want it that sweet). I found it just as good as a Starbuck's drink.
