How I Survived 11 Days at WDW with a Disney-Resistant Husband **2/20 THE END **

Oh yes, all your talk of the "Four Worlds, one CD" CD, I had to order it. It is out of print so I paid a bit more for it on amazon, but it sounds like it'll be worth it! :)

Good Morning Trish!

So happy to read your Birthday morning was fun and you enjoyed your meal at Cape May. :goodvibes Looks like a fun place to eat.

A couple of years ago during YOAMD we rode Soarin' with a Dream Team Member. She told us to concentrate really hard and see if we could 'catch' the golf ball. Well, I caught it!!! It even had the Mickey head on it. My kids were in awe. The Dream Team CM told them "your mom is a ninja!". I said you know at night when you guys think I am sleeping, well I am actually practicing my secret mama ninja skills. :rotfl: (that is why I am so tired most of the time)
My DD still questions the golf ball incident...:rolleyes1 Fun memories!

I absolutely LOVE the Test Track pic...your DH looks like he is having BIG fun :woohoo:. The look on his face really cracked me up :rotfl:. So glad you have a picture of him having a good time.

Hope you are having a great week!
TTFN
Darlene

BTW...I think you are a ninja mom too! :cool1:

Hey Darlene! Loved your story about the Dream Team! We actually had that happen as well on a past trip, which is where I got the idea for it. Now I just have to remember to bring my own golfballs.

And I agree - Chris does look like he is having BIG fun on Test Track. He plays a tough game, but there is a love for Disney hiding underneath that exterior.;)

Hope you are having a good week too! I am away the rest of the week in Toronto, but will update again on the weekend.:)

Is it really out of print? I bought it in 2007, but it was still being sold in the Parks when we were there in May 2010. It has to be their best selling CD - it is very popular.

You will really like it! Great little reminder of the Parks!:goodvibes

Declan knows the music from Soarin' quite well as the "4 Parks, One World" CD gets frequent airtime in our car. In fact, as a result of Katie and I frequently shouting: "Kayakers", "Skiers", "Golf course", "Orange Trees", "Horses", "San Diego Harbour", "LA", "Disneyland", "Tinkerbell" at various stages of the song, Declan even knew what scenes accompanied certain parts of the soundtrack before he even rode the attraction!

I love this! :rotfl:

What a GREAT day at Epcot so far! It is exciting when everyone can ride together, isn't it? Henry rode Soarin' and Test Track this trip for the first time as well! :cloud9:

Let me be perfectly clear: there are no golfballs thrown at anyone in Soarin'. My son just happened to have one "fall" into his hand by a stealthy mom.;)

I LOVE this!!!!!! I bet he was in total awe!

I just bought it from the Boardwalk gift shop earlier this month, but I did try to find it last September and could NOT find it. This trip I saw it everywhere. So I'm wondering if they took it out for a while and then brought it back? :confused3

I'm guessing it is because the only copies being sold on Amazon were by outside vendors.

It's possible Amazon was out of stock but they only had two separate sellers offering it (I spent $40 for it). Maybe I should have waited to see if I could have found it when I went down in December. But it'll be worth it to listen leading up to my trip.

How exciting that your whole family got to ride the thrill rides together. My son tall enough to ride, but has so far been too afraid. I hope he is more brave when we go back. That TT picture of your husband is too funny. Now he can't say he didn't have any fun in the parks. ;)

You are so right! It makes a world of difference when everyone can ride all rides together. Every other family trip before this trip, I always felt a twinge of guilt leaving some family behind, or a sense that I was missing something when I was the one staying behind. From now on, the only ride I will have to sit out for is the TOT due to Katie's fear of it. But that just gives us time to sit and watch the Beauty and the Beast musical.;)

To be honest, you would not have saved all that much getting it in the parks. I think it is sold for about $28 or so. An extra $12 is well worth it to have it now, and to be able to listen to it in the lead-up to your trip.:)

It is great when the whole family can ride!:) And I agree...that photo of Chris is really funny!:)

Loving your trip report- can't wait for more!!!popcorn::

Thank you so much!!! I will have an update or two posted sometime over the weekend!:)

I can't believe I missed your Day 7 post till now!

Are my eyes deceiving me? Is that Chris smiling on a ride? And no Disney princess anywhere around to be seen?

WOW! Disney princesses and rides that go FAST! :thumbsup2

Fantastic idea about the golf ball. Pity mine is too old to fall for that now.

Cinco meet coming up...

Yes, Cinco meet is coming up next. And you have a staring role!;)

Cinco de Mayo DisMeet

It's amazing the things you can learn on the Disboards. In preparations for our May 2010 Trip, I was invited by the lovely Katie (kschafer) to join a DisMeet planning thread for a Meet on May 5th to celebrate Cinco de Mayo.

I must have been living under a rock, but I had never before heard of Cinco de Mayo, even though it happens to fall on my birthday. Nope...this holiday was complete news to me. Chalk it up to yet another wonderful discovery courtesy of the Disboards. Of course, once I found out about Cinco de Mayo, I was all over it. If you are going to share your Birthday with a holiday, a National Mexican Party Day is not a bad choice!

In addition to Katie (kschafer), in the lead-up to the trip, there were 3 other women who I became particularly friendly with, including Michelle (SoonerGirl), Sharon (PrincessInOz) and Kayce (kcandbella). We followed along with each other's trip reports, and shared many plans and excitement in the countdown to our trips. This was the first time I had ever participated in a vacation countdown thread, and the first time that I had ever planned a DisMeet during my trip. I was excited to get to meet everyone in person.

By the time the kids and I finished up with the Butterfly Pavillion and we met up with Chris to start the walk over to World Showcase, it was not even 11:30am. It was already quite hot outside, and we were getting hungry.

The DisMeet was scheduled for 12noon at La Cava del Tequila, inside the Mexican Pavillion. It is a very lovely place, but not exactly suited for kids. Especially hungry ones. While there is lots of tequila and adult beveridges as well as tapas style food on the menu, I suspected that we would not be successful in finding something that would suit my children's appetites.

Fortunately, the San Angel Inn was located only a courtyard away and accepted us as a walk-in reservation. While I wouldn't be able to stay at the DisMeet for an extended period, at least this would allow me to pop in and make an appearance.

We arrived in the beautiful Mexican Pavillion at around 11:40am and put our names in for a table at the San Angel Inn. Just as we were being called to our table around 12 noon, I spotted Katie and her sister-in-law Shelby in the courtyard. Katie was such a lovely host/planner for this Meet, and had even brought special little gifts for all of the kids.

After we chatted for a bit, I made my way to our table at the San Angel Inn, and waited to place my order with our server. Then, Katie and I ran back over to see if anyone else had arrived for the Meet. We walked into La Cava del Tequila and immediately saw a group of 8 or so Dissers all chatting happily, like we had known each other for ages. Katie and I stayed with the group for about 5-10 minutes, and then made our way back to the table where our appetizers were waiting. Then, between our entrees and dessert I came back again with Declan and met some more folks.

It was so great to meet everyone, and really fun to experience my first DisMeet in the middle of our trip! Of course, everyone was lovely, and my only regret was not being able to talk to everyone as long as I would have liked.

(I think Michelle's Mom took this)

While I admit that I was a bit of a moving target, playing musical chairs between San Angel Inn and La Cava del Tequila, this did not stop me from thoroughly enjoying my meal at San Angel. Chris and I both loved the food, rating it one of the best meals of the trip. I have read all the bad reviews of this place, and quite frankly, I just don't get it. :confused3

Our delicious complimentary appetizers:

Super, super delicious!!! All of it! I am making myself hungry to distraction just looking at these photos again!

Dessert was just as good. Probably the best table service dessert I had the whole trip. A mexican specialty coffee and the most delicious tasting pastry!

The kiddos had ice creams:

After our delicious meal, we rolled oursevles out and waddled over to the boats to take a relaxing ride through Mexico. I just love the diving scene from those high cliffs!!!

Then, we stopped to try on some hats:

And the kids stopped at the Kidcott station to color their masks:

And with that, we had officially finished touring our 1st country in World Showcase.

UP NEXT: Chris' Favourite Part of World Showcase!

I love the Mexico pavillion!
Looks like a fun meet :goodvibes.. it is odd that first time you meet people from the boards/online community in WDW... my sister & I went to a Dole Whip meet for a podcast last year - it took us over 20 minutes to get the courage to walk up and introduce ourselves

I have the 'Three Caballeros' song stuck in my head now :rolleyes1 hehe

Emma princess: x

How nice that you got to meet up with so many Disers! It really is like meeting up with old friends isn't it?

Glad you enjoyed San Angel, but I have to tell you, I'm one of the ones that didn't care for it at all:confused: I think I might have just made a bad choice, will have to try it again!

I love the Mexico pavilion too. I can't wait to try the new restaurant! I'm so glad you got to participate in the meet. Sounds like it was perfectly arranged so the kids and Chris could enjoy their meal and you could hop back and forth!

I am dying to know what Chris' favorite part of World Showcase is!

What a fun DIS meet! And I'm happy to hear your great review of San Angel. We have an ADR there in January. We've never been, but I just love the looks of the setting. I'm happy to hear the food is good too!

Aww, glad your Dismeet was fun! Can't wait to see what Chris actually loves in the World Showcase!

To be honest, you would not have saved all that much getting it in the parks. I think it is sold for about $28 or so. An extra $12 is well worth it to have it now, and to be able to listen to it in the lead-up to your trip.:)

True and I got it in time for a 3 1/2 hour trip each way to New Hampshire this weekend so it made the trip much more pleasant! :)

It sounds like you had a great Dis meet and meal at San Angel! I've read less then stellar reviews of San Angel as well and I'm glad you liked it!

I can't wait to hear about what your DH actually liked!

Love a DISMeet!!! And how very fun to have one on your birthday! :thumbsup2 The food at SanAngel looks delicious. I think if/when we try it, we'll be on the "fan" list as well, we LOVE Mexican, and prefer real Mexican versus tex-mex.
