I received a toll booth violation from Dollar. I owe $25.50, the problem I am having is paying it.

I have filled in the details and emailed the card details, they have done nothing with them. I have rang their office in Oklahoma, always left on hold, spoke to their office in another dept in OK, but they could not transfer me but the lady emailed the relevant department copying me in - still nothing ???

What do I do? What happens if I get to the states and I get trouble for an outstanding fine?

When you get here. Obey the laws - so you do not get pulled over.:drive:

Then go to the nearest court house and pay the fine. $25.00 is nothing compared to going to jail. That would sure ruin a holiday.

It will be paid by then, just want to know how to get Dollar to take my cash!

Toll Violations are sent after we get back to the UK, its not possible to pay them before leaving. Some of the new toll booths are easily missed by tourists by accident, its nothing to do with not obeying the law, its bad signage & off main carriageway booths thats the problem.

Seems a bit harsh it looks like the original poster is making every effort to pay and came here looking for help... Not to be made to feel like a criminal.

Sorry I can't give you an answer but I hope you sort it out soon xx

Someone must know how to do this!! It is ridiculous that it can't be done over the phone!!

It's not surprising it can't be done over the phone from here. We have a property in Florida and trying to sort out even the simplest of things over the phone is usually a nightmare - the 'system' in the States is simply not set up to be able to accommodate anyone from another country. Off topic - I was trying to talk to someone at the bank this week and she said 'don't you celebrate Thanksgiving over there'!!

It's not a question of obeying the laws as a previous poster said - sometimes is simply isn't possible - on one of our first trips we came to an unmanned toll booth on our trip from the airport on arrival and simply did not have any loose change - so had to go through without paying -we had no other choice.

OP - have you thought about contacting Dollar in the UK and seeing if they can do anything to help you.

LOL - tried that, couldn't help me, transferred me to the US.

Got through tonight to the violations department in OK and they wouldn't take payment over the phone. Crazy.

It could be that they can't process it if you can't give either a ZIP code or a US social security number - that's usually where we get stuck.

Perhaps you could send dollars via a courier and keep all proof of postage - obviously going to work out very expensive.

I just got a letter from Alamo which I have not yet dealt with as I did indeed put the 75 cents in the toll at OPW & Poincianna, but the guy was emptying it & the coins would not register.
I shouted to him & he said just go on through.
There is a website & tell no on my form which may help?

I really wouldn't worry about it. You're not a "WANTED" person in the United States. Dollar paid the toll and they're hitting you up for the toll and an administrative fee. There is no government fine involved. If I were you, I'd save the paperwork and the next time you're over here and have U.S. money, stop at a Dollar counter and pay it. And rent from someone else!

Thanks for popping on and giving this advice Bob. :thumbsup2
Obviously us over here don't know how the system in Florida works, so it is good to hear it from a local resident first hand.
