All together now:

Put on your yarmulke, here comes Hanukkah
Its so much fun-akkah to celebrate Hanukkah,

Hanukkah is the festival of lights,
Instead of one day of presents, we have eight crazy nights.

When you feel like the only kid in town without a x-mas tree, heres a list of
People who are Jewish, just like you and me:

David Lee Roth lights the menorrah,
So do James Caan, Kirk Douglas, and the late Dinah Shore-ah

Guess who eats together at the Karnickey Deli,
Bowzer from Sha-na-na, and Arthur Fonzerrelli.

Paul Newmans half Jewish; Goldie Hawns half too,
Put them together--what a fine lookin' Jew!

You don't need deck the halls or jingle bell rock
Cause you can spin the dreidel with captain Kirk and Mr. Spock--both Jewish!

Put on your yarmulke, it's time for Hanukkah,
The owner of the Seattle super sonic-ahs celebrates Hanukkah.

O.J. Simpson-- not a Jew!
But guess who is...hall of famer Rod Carew--(he converted!)

We got Ann Landers and her sister Dear Abby,
Harrison Fords a quarter Jewish--not too shabby!

Some people think that Ebeneezer Scrooge is,
Well, he's not, but guess who is: all Three Stooges.

So many Jews are in show biz--
Tom cruise isn't, but I heard his agent is.

Tell your friend Veronica, it's time you celebrate Hanukkah
I hope I get a harmonica, on this lovely, lovely Hanukkah.

So drink your gin-and-tonic-ah, and smoke your mara-juanic-ah,
If you really, really wanna-kah, have a happy, happy, happy, happy
Hanukkah. Happy Hanukkah!

:welcome: to my Hanukkah/Birthday trip report. I know it is far too early to begin this report because my trip is exactly 17 months or 488 days away but there is so much to consider and coordinate when going to WDW and I simply cannot contain my planning excitement. :woohoo:
A little history………We are DVC owners, bought in May 2009 at SSR after staying with our amazing and generous friends at OKW and AKV in 2009. Prior to that, our first trip to WDW was in Sept 2007 during free dining when free dining was actually a deal and included the appetizer and tip but that’s another story. ;) We spent 10 nights at the POR and had a blast! Prior to our first trip to WDW we had been to Disneyland as a family many times. While DH enjoyed our family trips to Disneyland, he just wasn’t sold yet on the whole Disney as a vacation destination but saw it as more of a side trip when we visited California. DH and I are both from Cali. I am from So Cal and he is from No Cal. We have been married 17 years and live in Utah. Don’t ask.
Our human family consists of me, DH, DD13, DD11, and DS 9. We also have 2 dogs and one chicken. Here are some mostly non-Disney photos.

At this point I have made a total pest of myself on the WDW and DVC forums posting polls on anything from resorts at the 7 month mark to best locations at SSR to where to find kosher meals. Our plans are only in my mind as it’s too early to reserve anything. :lmao:

Things I know:
• December 12-22, 2011.
• Five of the nights at SSR.

Plans to be determined:
• Split stay but where to spend the other 5 nights? Right now the THV and BWV are in the lead.
• Dining plan for ½?
• Where to celebrate the first night of Hanukkah?
• Where to celebrate Chloe’s bday?
MVMCP? I know we are Jews but Santa doesn’t care.
• One bedroom or two bedroom?
• ADRs?

Our trip was originally, again in my mind, slated for Dec 18-28, 2011 so we could celebrate all of Hanukkah and DD's 13th bday but the points increase dramatically beginning Dec 23 and the crowds get insane on Dec 25. I wanted to make sure though that we celebrate Chloe’s birthday as well as a day or two of Hanukkah as WDW is their gift. :teeth:

My reports always seem to end up with a few chatty chicas like myself and a ton of lurkers. Feel free to chime in. :grouphug:

I am here. Now I am going back to read. :cheer2:

I can't believe how much older your kids look since your first report.

:goodvibes You are so good to me. Wonder if this will be us chatting for the next 17 months? :rotfl:

I cannot believe you forgot it was your ADR day! :faint:

Well like I said I had just moved and hadn't had internet for a while. I was still trying to catch up on all my emails. Well I don't have many readers on mine either. Thats ok I think it helps to be able to write it out, my dh is tired of listening to me talk about it.

Men. Ours anyway. ;) Michael hasn't even really agreed to this trip but last night I was talking to Chloe about being there on her birthday and he said: so it looks like we are going? :rotfl2: I said: of course we are going. :littleangel:

:rotfl2: Love your opening act.

I'm here with bells on to see what crazy things you'll come up with on this trip. :goodvibes

Of course you are going!!! Well I notice he didn't say no either when you were talking about it. I bet Chloe is excited to be there on her birthday. I don't think I will ever be there on my birthday (August). It is toooo hot in FL that time of year.

It's early yet. :rotfl: But it's fun to have new posters and different insights since I have decided very little.

I cannot imagine how hot August is! Sept was humid and very warm but we got brief daily storms. Chloe is super excited and we are researching options for celebrating. I really wish we could be there all 8 nights of Hanukkah because I think they'll be let down to not have anything to open on nights 4-7 but oh well, spoiled brats. :lmao: On the 8th night we give to charity so that night isn't an issue.

Part of the fun for me, and it's all about me having fun right :lmao: is to countodwn loud and proud everyday! This time I am going to countdown but also add a favorite Disney pic from our years of Disney vacations. Whose excited?

:ccat: 487 days!!!! :ccat:

This is a photo I took during the fireworks while in line for BTMM at Disneyland during our October 2009 trip.

Ok... I'm in too.. I've been a lurker before but now I'm planning a WDW trip for Spring Break and will love learning from all of your research! It will be very interesting to see what DVC we can get for the first week in April 7 months out! We just returned from Disneyland on Thursday and I'm already searching through the DW boards. This is definitely a disease!

:welcome: Tracy!!! Isn't the GCV amazing? :cloud9: We stayed in a 2 bedroom this June and loved every minute of it. Is that your home resort? Where are you most wanting to stay during Spring Break?

:mickeyjum 486 days!!! :mickeyjum

This is from our June 2010 Disneyland trip. It's of Mickey's Sun Wheel of Death in DCA. We had killer *seats* for the World of Color.

GCV is AMAZING! We stayed 6 nights at the DH and then switched over (we had just purchased a resale and I wanted to save points.. :)) and it kicked butt over DH! We stayed in a studio - 40 points for a Saturday night! But it was worth it! Convinced my husband (well not completely) that spending all of my aunt's inheritance $ on DVC was a good idea!

I need to do more research on the villas at DW but I think in my original plans that I wanted to shoot for BCV.... knowing that we have a very low chance of getting it! We've only been to the world twice.. once we stayed at the Polynesian and then at All Star Movies (i think that's what it's called). I just started a new MS Principal job and researching vacations is my stress relief so I look forward to researching with ya!

:rotfl2: Where is your *home* resort? Our is SSR. I would love to buy BWB resale one day. We did the GCV then went to the PPH and it blew! Nothing compares to the Grand. :cloud9:

Researching vacations is a stress reliver for me too. I figure it's healthier than copius amounts of alcohol. We have been been twice too; once at the POR and then a triple split between the OKW, AKV, and POR. That was the trip we bought DVC. How was the Poly? It looks amazing from what I have seen. I'd shoot for BCV, you never know and you can always wait list. :thumbsup2 What does an MS Principal do? Congrats on the new job!

Speaking of waitlist, DH agreed to shooting down to So Cal after Vegas, we'll be there for Gab's soccer tourney over Thanksgiving, so I just waitlisted a 2 bedroom at the GCV. They had one available for the first and third nights but not the second. I am too afraid to book those and waitlist the middle night because if it doesn't come through I will have to use the points by Nov 30 of this year or move each night which I refuse to do. Wish me luck! pixiedust:

Our home resort is GCV. Living on the west side, it's easier to get to Disneyland. And my husband doesn't have the Disney bug like I do, so I expect to be making some solo trips with my kids. :)

A MS principal manages the entire building, staff, and students...plus helps the teachers with new instructional practices...keeps the parents happy....chases dogs off of the playground...etc...etc... Each day is a surprise!

The Poly was awesome. It was great being so close to the Magic Kingdom and right on the monorail.

OK.. so how does the waitlist work? You waitlised the entire 3 nights? Or did you just waitlist the middle? And when you waitlist, you don't use points until it comes through right? So can I book at one resort for the week and then waitlist for BCV and move if it comes up?

Good luck on your waitlist!! :)

Great home resort. How was the resale process?

Good luck at the new job. It sounds similar to running a family- keeping everyone happy and making sure things run as smoothly as possible!

::yes:: You can book whatever is available at 7 months and then waitlist another resort if you want. You can have 2 waitlists at once and when one comes open, the other list cancels.

We waitlisted our entire 3 nights and here's why.............because of this big and point intensive Dec 2011 trip we'll be borrowing points for the GCV for the 3 nights in November. When you borrow and have to cancel the points go back into your current year, not back into the year you borrowed from. Our UY is December so if I book and cancel the points will still have to be used by Nov 30 of this year. :upsidedow Did I confuse you? So basically if all 3 nights in a 2 bedroom open up, either a lock-off or standard, we are set. If not then we'll stay with my friend who lives 15 minutes away. The shoot down to So Cal is not a Disney heavy trip, just 2 days, we are mainly going for the beach and to see my friend.
