Somethin Special

Hi Everyone!

My DW, DD (age 1) and I are returning for our 7th trip in 7 yrs, our 1st since DD was born. I would like to do something special for DW and DD but especially for DW as she has been amazing over the past year. We are staying at the Poly this year because of its proximity to MK. I would like to know if anyone knows something that I can plan for DW that would be special. I know people have different ideas and definitions of special and I would appreciate ALL suggestions....

Some general ideas I have are something to be done at one of our sitdown meals, something at the hotel, or even something by a character in a park or at the hotel.

For instance, mw DW for my birthday on a previous trip called ahead to the Coral Reef (my favorite sitdown place) and had a diver come down to the glass with a sign that said happy birthday and had a "personalized menu" made for me... VERY COOL!!! I believe it didnt cost a darn thing but was easily the high point of my past 6 visits.

What about a nice floral arrangement from the Disney florists to surprise her when she walks in the door of your resort room. I believe they have all different kinds of packages and pricing. Have a wonderful trip!

Flowers is very nice. Nice dinner at GF or CR. Specialty cruise. Pick a pearl in Japan. Or.. Im decorating our room at the Poly with candles, rose petals, champagne and string lights while I send my DH on an "errand"

Being that it'll be our 1st trip with a little one and we already have our dining booked, I am kind of limited on what we can plan as far as an intimate occassion and she booked our dining that provided us with the most opportunities for our DD to be able to eat with us and on her schedule.

Like the flower arrangement idea,

keep'em coming though... We have a month plus til we come back there and DW SWEARS by the boards and the ideas that people come up with..

I can tell you what made me cry from happiness, hopefully will work the same for your wife.

My 30th birthday just passed, and we ate Dinner at Citricos in the grand floridian.

My fiancee had called disney ahead of time, and had delivered to the table, a white chocolate cinderella slipper filled with creme and rasberries....it also had a choclate dusting of the castle on the side...it was absolutely beautiful, and deliscious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then when we got back to the room, there was a BEAUTIFUL bouquet of fushia colored roses that had light up tinkerbells....VERY thoughful, and made me feel so loved .

How about a spa day at the Grand Floridian? A mani/pedi, maybe a sugar scrub. You could have some father - daughter bonding time and give mom the morning off.

1. I booked Gifts of a lifetime to do a scavenger hunt through MK for DD 5th bday gifts. They do wonderful specialized events and they are a sponsor on the dis boards. Check out their website for ideas.
2. Wishes Fireworks cruise, I believe you can book out of Poly. We did out of WL for DS 8th bday. Arranged cake, coffee, etc for private dining. Wonderful.
3. Specialty cake, check out the cake chatter thread on the restuarant board. Yummy!
4. Did a private photo session with photopass photographer at poly in Dec 08. they are some of the best pictures of our family ever. We had 8 people in our group and photographer was very patient. It might be a great way to remember your DD's first trip.

i also arranged the diver and personalized menu at Coral Reef for DS in 08. He still has the menus and tells people about it all the time. Unfortunately, they stopped offering in Dec 08.

Oh, I like this one. I've seen some of those photo sessions posted on the board and they are really nice.

Hi!!

My husband, 1 yr old son (celebrating 1st birthday) and I are going to Disney in Sept - here are a few of my suggestions (some of which I'm planning for myself...haha!)

1. Gift basket
2. Family Disney Photopass Session - we are doing ours at the GF
3. Spa day! Give your wifey a break and send her to GF Spa
4. Fairy Godmother - get a sitter for the night and take your wife to a nice romantic dinner.

Out of all your meals the most upscale is Coral Reef. I know I've had a special birthday treat there.

I might be wrong but I *think* the glass slipper comes from resort bakeries, not sure if you can get it at theme park restaurants. I would ask about it over on the cake chatter thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2413710

That is probably the best place to start, the first thread has some general information and you can also see pix of different cakes and specialty desserts that can be ordered. I would also guess calling Disney's cake hotline might be the best place to start for getting the slipper dessert or some other fancy dessert not on the menu.

As far as other ideas, If you're not staying concierge level already a surprise upgrade to the Hawaii building at Poly might be a nice surprise, albeit pricey.
