Booked a midsize with National for $159.89 week + $22.84 per day for 4 extra days...total $339.17USD final cost is estimated to be $354.16CAD total. Is this a good rate...booked this back in March. I know National will put a hold for the full amount of the rental on my cc but how much do they hold for a deposit as well...what is the total amount that will be held on my cc.
We are Emerald Aisle members, so I just go directly to the garage...correct and get the car, show my DL and Emerald Club card and all should be fine?
Is there an additional driver charge to add my bf to the car as well? If so, is there an additional hold put on his cc?
First time using Emerald Aisle so I'm a little anxious over the whole process...thanks!

you should keep checking your rates .....it could go down....september weekly rental for EA now are at 125 for the week ( not sure how much tax etc, but count on probably about 60 - 70 in taxes and "gouge" fees ), also be aware "base rates" change depending on length of time....sometimes 8 day base rate is lower, sometimes higher and so on....

there are also coupons you can get for $ off

I do not know if they put a hold on your account or a pending charge, they always ask when we return if it is going to the credit card on file....

spouses are "free" with emerald aisle, do not know about bf, you might want to call your Emerald Club number to find out more info with this respect


just ran sept 4 - 15 no coupons just straight EA rental and it comes in at 291 and with coupon 25$ off 262 ( coupon code is from National ND8576JDS, suppost to expire august 2010, but seems to work for september rentals )

oct 4 - 11 comes back at 342$ no coupon

I know we can find a better rate. Mousesavers.com has some "discount codes" and "coupon codes" that can be combined to bring costs down. National has coupons up to $40 off a week out there. Another site I use is carrentalsavers.com

Emerald Aisle......
1. Make sure you are logged in at National.com when you reserve the car, this will get you the Emerald Aisle service. You confirmation will say "Level of Service - Aisle"
2. BF will be an extra charge as only IMMEDIATE FAMILY living at the same address will be allowed as extra drivers for free.

Toss out your dates and I bet a better rate can be found.

have not gotten a 40$ coupon in a while, it is usually emailed out if not mistaken from Emerald Club saying we drive a hard bargain....smilawgs

Wow...thanks! My dates are Sept. 7 - 18. I am from Canada so I always check that off when it asks where you are from. I have checked coupons and contract IDs from Mousesavers but I can't get any to apply correctly...maybe I'm doing something wrong. Any help is greatly appreciated!

just make a new reservation after you Login

you can always cancel from your itineraries later, and if a new coupon code comes up it can usually be applied by using Modify this reservation

we are canadian too but have a US dollar credit card we pay with, thus we usually just pay attention to the US dollar amount, but the exchange is good now so the extra cost is not much
