Has anybody picked up a rental at MCO and dropped it off at TPA? The catch is that I need to rent a minivan. 9/9-9/19 would be the dates. It looks like I'm going to have to pay a pretty hefty premium for the TPA dropoff....anybody have hints?

I played around with this one, I ended up flying in and out of TPA instead, and just sucked up the short ride between TPA and Disney.

Several major car rental companies do not charge a dropoff charge within the sate of Florida. I don't know what size vehicle you need but just checking Alamo with pickup at MCO and dropoff at TPA the total for a midsize is $212.25. That is using Costco ID 7014627 and E Coupon AD2332FDA for $30.00 off. I just noticed you required a minvan so total is $500.00.

We are doing the same thing at the end of september and the cost was no more than dropping of at mco or tpa. Who are you looking at for pricing?

We rented from National Emerald Aisle, midsize, at Tampa and returned the car to Orlando airport. We did not pay a dropoff charge for the mid-size rental, and we picked up a G6 from the aisle. Nice drive to Tampa but it was 11PM and traffic was light.
I just went in and did a dummy rental for a mini-van picking up at Tampa and returning to Orlando for 7 days late Aug. The rates were over $500 but I didn't see a separate drop-off charge.

Tampa TO MCO doesn't seem to be a problem, its the other way around---I presume because the MCO market is so large, they don't mind having cars dumped into that inventory, but they don't want to lose vans to Tampa.

I will try those Alamo codes. I couldn't get Alamo or National under $800 using the 'normal' codes that were getting me $435 for 10 days with a MCO-MCO rental. Budget and Avis flat out aren't permitting me to do a TPA dropoff with a minivan from MCO (just the minivan--everything else was fine). My cheapest option was Thrifty/Dollar, both of which are charging a $125.00 "drop off" fee. Essentially that is pricing out to about $600--so the base rate is the same as an MCO-MCO rental with them, plus the $125.

This comes out o $555.00

Think I can do better?
