Regarding the kids costumes. Do many people save putting on the costume to the evening parade and party, or maybe wear part of it. I have made my sons costumes in the past, he likes them but they weren't exactly ride friendly, some paper mache or a little bulky for sitting in a ride Etc. This year I'm going to try and keep it a lot less bulky, but still may consider only wearing part of it or maybe hit the rides first thing, then get "suited up" so to speak. I don't want him to miss out on the attention from the CM too during the day. I want him to get the "FULL" experiance.

Any experience or advice.

We're thinking of trying to enter the park closer to 4pm. Would it be OK for us adults to wear costume from the resort, use the monorail, and enter the park that early on, or would it be frowned upon? We plan to be dressed up as Disney characters (of course we definitely won't pretend we're authentic), and would like to do some meet-and-greets and rides before the party starts. I don't want to change in the bathroom at the park if I can avoid it...

Since we're not paying for Park Hoppers this time, we're planning to do another theme park earlier in the day and then enter MK at 4pm. No point in paying extra for the party and then also visiting MK as the theme park for that day too. We'll get into costume for the 4pm arrival.

I'm sure there will be plenty of other adults in costumes heading to the parks at that time. it wouldn't be a big deal for me, not much to my custume, cowboy boots and hat, maybe a duster is it's not too hot.

I don't want to change in the bathroom at the park if I can avoid it...

DD and I did this 2 years ago and will do it again this year. No problem getting in in costume at 4 and believe me, you won't be alone Have fun.

We've made MNSSHP day a dedicated rest morning and park evening, A) because I want the kids to make the whole party, and B) so they don't ruin their costumes, C) because it falls in the middle of our trip and we need a rest day regardless...

If you think it will hold up, it shouldn't be an issue (but isn't the cut off for costumes in the parks age 12 for non-party days??).

Have you considered hitting rope drop for your chosen park that day, going to your resort around 12:30-1:30 to rest, change and return to MK at 4 for the party?

Technically only up to age 9 is good on a non-party day. But I don't think they are hard and fast. They ARE pretty clear about adults not being in costume on a non-party day. The time after 4 leading up to a party should be no problem at any age though.

From watching posts for the past two years regarding the rain and cancellation -- IF the parade /fireworks are cancelled you can ask for a refund. Last year it rained on many parties but the show still went on. There was only a few times that people asked for a refund- They were either given a admission ticket or another MNSSHP for another night.

I never read where people got their money back.

So I have been doing a lot of reading on the DIS board about the MNSSHP today.

I can't wait to go in October -- they say the crowds are going to be so much lower than June and the weather will be great too.

Is thinking -- Didn't she tell me this yesterday ?

The second parade is suppose to be less crowded and we have to be at our places 15 minutes early to see the headless horseman -- I can't wait.

Says --- I thought I told you a million times I hate parades. And why would I want to see a headless horse ? Do you remember when you made me sit 1 hour before the parade at Disneyland by The Small World Ride only to find out that the parade started on Main Street and I had to sit on the hard pavement for a total of 2 hours- When I could have road Space Mountain like 10 more times.

Is now thinking Did he just say headless horse -- Oh No He Didn't !!!


And now we wait 70plus more days for our 12 day annual trip back to our Happy Place

Question - how long do lines for characters usually get? Do they lessen up from 11-12? I know the advice here is to get in line at 6:30 or so and get them out of the way fast, but I don't think I can make it in to MK until 8 because of an ADR. (I know, going against the advice here again, can't move it, although I'm still checking ...). I'm going by myself though, so I figure a single lone set of fast feet can still run around and get plenty of stuff accomplished in 4 hours instead of 5 - except if I run into long lines for the characters. I've marked only three I care about though, and I'm an adult, I'll suck it up if I miss out on them. My original plan was to wait until later at night to get in lines for the characters, except now I'm seeing that everyone here is planning on sleeping in and staying up late, so now I'm worried that the character lines will be long and slow all the way up until midnight.

I must say good idea but not a fav of mine. DH wants to go as Darth Vader...so MAYBE I was going to make DD2.5 Princess Leia, DS4 Luke Skywalker, and DS1 Yoda...and make myself Padme(Luke & Leia's Mom)...What do you guys think?

I was actually going to suggest that you could go as pregnant Padme.

I was 6 months pregnant for halloween 06 and had wanted to do that, but couldn't find a costume and didn't have time to make one.

I totally love it. We are going on 9-21. I am "Dagobah Luke", DS2 is Yoda (in a backpack on my shoulders), and DW is Leia (she is so wonderful to me).
