Experts needed: DD to AK 7:00 a.m.

We're staying at the Hilton at Downtown Disney. The only iffy transportation issue comes on the morning we have AK breakfast booked at 8:05 when the park opens at 9:00.

The Hilton shuttle doesn't run early enough for us to get there for our breakfast time. The DD Marketplace buses won 't be running by 7 or 7:30 a.m. either to try a transfer from another resort.

Without a rental, is there any other way than a cab? (And we're a party of 5).

Anybody got a magic wand? :wizard:

Not many options other than a cab. The buses to DTD, from the resorts, don't come close to starting that early...at least to the best of my knowledge.
You could hike over to SSR and take their bus to AK, but that's going to be a long walk.

This is the reason I tell everyone to stop and think when they are making ADRs..you need to figure out how you'll get from point A to point B...especially that early in the morning. And from a non-Disney resort, it's next to impossible without a rental car or cab...and sometimes those arriving at AK and not using the buses, have to wait for the lots to open.

Looking at the map, it's .6 miles from the Hilton to SSR. Conceivably, we could either walk or, faster, take a cab to SSR and then access the bus to AK? But how early do the resort buses start running to the parks before their opening time?

If you're going to take a cab to SSR, just take it all the way to AK. It really isn't going to cost that much more.

I don't think it is .6 miles. Remember that SSR has multiple bus stops. I'd say from the lobby exit you could get to a bus stop at SSR in 10 minutes or less walking, I'm talking a slow walk. IMO not too bad. But then you have to wait for an AK bus. If your running late look forward to a cab ride. ;)

Agreed, but I was trying to take into account whether or not the cab could get somewhere close enough to drop us off near the front of the park, per goofy4tink's post.

Guess we will scope out the distance once we get there and decide the best plan of attack. Nothing like planning on staying at MK until 1 a.m. the night before and then getting up at 5:00 to make breakfast at 8!!:rotfl:

The taxi and bus drop offs are about the same distance to the entrance. I know this may not help your decision but you won't have to remember to check when going in or out of the park.

My only issue is that there have still been reports about cars not being allowed into the parking lots early in the morning. I sure don't want to see someone miss their ADR due to that.

The buses start running by 6:30am, to the parks. I would plan on being at SSR by 7am...that should give you time to get their AK bus.
