WOC Viewing Chart

We saw the 11:15pm show on Saturday, July 24. We watched from Blue, in front of the "VIP Section."

IMO the spot at the front railing in Preferred Dining is better than the spot that's in front of the VIP Section. (Just to be clear, the Preferred Dining section is called Blue for the 11:15 show.)

We enjoyed the show! :wizard:

Better than BEST!
I agree... The few spots on the rail on the lower section of Preferred Section are better "Viewing"! However, to get there for the early shows requires you to buy an expensive meal and line up two hours before the show, RUN to the preferred dining section, RUN to the front rail, and wait. Then fight with the other Guests that want to stand next or in front of you. IMO not worth money, the hassle, compaired to leasurely walking to the BEST area. See post #38 by silence to see why I think this.

BESTEST of BEST...

Enter the RED zone from the far Silly Swings side and go to the far left rail spot in the Red wet area. The Red wet area next to the yellow is dead center, nothing, nobody is in front of you, costs nothing, fewer crowds to fight... but on a windy night you will get wet.

Easiest least problem good view plan.
Blue Fastpasses are the easiest to get. 9:30 Rope drop will get you first show Blue. Or, at the Fastpass machines about 10:45 is when they change to the 2nd show. (You can ask a cast member to allow you to wait if you are a little early.) Or, spend more money and buy a picnic meal, but check before if you will get blue.

Do not fight the 7:00 mob that they let in at 7:30. Wait till the crowd dies down. When you casually enter the Blue section take one giant step forward, cross under the rope to your right take two giant steps to the rail, and stand at the rail a few feet down from the VIP section. Relax, it will not be a mob scene - Make friends with the Cast Fastpass takers and the VIP Plaid holding the VIP list, (Ask who the VIP's are that night) She will be standing right behind you. Talk with them, laugh with them as the rude people rush to the lower sections and endlessly fight each other and complain. They now will let you go get something to eat, or the bathroom, and will lift the rope and be happy to welcome you back at anytime, as you are now their polite friend.

For the first show the Pre-show Stage Manager in black with his headset will open a gate and plug in his computer to direct the show right in front of your view. [Does this tell you something if the Stage Manager likes to stand there]

At the end of the show turn around and you are now at the front to the exit mob. No hassle fighting 4,000 Guests for 10-15 minutes to get out. You will be fiist to get out of the area.

This week I watched WOC three times.

And I watched it from three different spots:

1) "BEST" - in front of the VIP section
2) "Better than BEST" - front rail (preferred)
3) "BESTEST of BEST" - front rail (red Wet Zone, dead center)

FWIW, I agree 100% with Disneyland_1951. IMO my favorite view was from the front rail in the red Wet Zone (dead center). And when I saw WOC in the Wet Zone it wasn't windy, so I didn't even get wet! :thumbsup2

This was the exact spot we were in last week and with four kids in our group, everyone could see. When we first entered blue section we checked with a CM where would be a good place to stand, she suggested the best place for the kids to see would be that exact spot you mentioned. It's elevated and the handicap section is right in front of you and between you and the handicap section is a little garden so there's no one blocking your view. And a definate plus is you are one of the first to leave. We really enjoyed WOC and it was worth the wait.

PrincessIM - what time did you get there to secure that spot?

Thanks!
Kim

I think it was around 7:35-7:40. We were on the Golden Zephyr when they started letting the crowd in at 7:30. We got off the ride and then just headed over to blue section.

Thanks!

Hmmm... I totally want to risk this b/c I think we will have Blue FP. It would be sure nice to cut 45 minutes off the wait, because that's the spot I want anyway. Can't decide to risk it or not... So many decisions! ;)

From this description, I'm having a hard time figuring out exactly where this area is. Can someone circle this exact area on a picture of the viewing area, and post that picture? Thanks in advance.

If you look at the OP photo, I am pretty sure he is talking about the blue section labeled in the photo as spot #1. Near the VIP section.

That's what I figured, but that's not the clearest photo so I'm not sure exactly where that is. There are some clearer photos of the viewing area, so I was hoping someone could label that spot on one of those photos.

The left side is the entrance for Blue where they take your Fastpass. Hand them your Fastpass take one step forward, duck under the rope (not always there) and two-three steps to the rail. The spot is just inside the area behind the yellow fire hydrant. It is very easy to get to, as it usually is not filled until most are already inside. You do not need to line up an hour early to get this spot. And, you are the first to leave saving another 5-10 minutes in a crowd.

Downsides: there is only space for 6-8 people to see well. Small children or people under 5' can have difficulity seeing if they are too far from the top.

However, this is the view with a normal lens (not wide angle).

Thanks, that photo helps. So, is this spot technically in the blue section?

Blue section.... Blue Fastpass.... 6' from the Castmember taking the Blue Fastpasses..

It is next to the VIP Section. There are no Fastpasses for the VIP Section... you must know a DLR Sr. Manager to get on the LIST.

The best other than the VIP section is the area just below the VIP section in the Reserved Dinner Section (Must purchase a $40 dinner at Ariels or Wine Country.)

But this spot is by far the easiest to get and is nearly as good.

Looks like a good view, but is it too far away to see all the action? I haven't seen WOC, so I'm not sure what the entire show consists of. Are there things floating around on the water, like there are in Fantasmic...things you might not be able to see from this spot?

The image you see above is 320+ feet wide and 100+ feet tall. The very front rows are as close as 20' from the fountains. It is like watching a 50' wide screen movie from a front row less than 5' away. It is spectacular but you can not see the whole image or some of the special effects.

There are no floates or anything to see at the front lower levels. Some of the fountain lights in the very front for a short time are blocked, but it is a very very small part of the show.

Which area do the people with picnic meals and Reserved Viewing tickets get ?

The chart is correct with what is current.

The Black Line I added is the centerline of the show. The WOC Show is not centered with the viewing area, but with the Perferred and VIP zones.

The Red section is the furthest off center except for the Wet Zone below the Perferred section.

Which area do the people with picnic meals and Reserved Viewing tickets get ?

Picnics are blue (light and medium blue in picture) or yellow. Preferred Viewing (dark blue with the black line running through it) is for those who reserve the package at Ariel's Grotto or WCT.

Thanks !
Which is considered better of the two ? Light blue or Yellow ?
