Once Upon a Christmastime! A Nov. 2010 PTR! *Update 12/12, Disney Blues, pg 61! :( *

Hi everyone!

I haven't done an update all week, I really have nothing interesting to talk about right now, just a few random things. :confused3

I guess I'll get this part out of the way...I gained another half of a pound this week! :scared1: Ugh, so annoyed! I've been doing pretty good this week, and exercising a lot, so I don't get it. :confused3 DH and I have been bike riding, we found these old bikes in our garage, so we cleaned them off, got new cushioned seats, and have just been trying to get used to riding again, it's been years since I've been on a bike, and I'm totally out of shape, so it's a work out! And it's fun, which is good! I'm also using my elliptical again, I did it for 25 minutes the other night! So I don't get the weight gain. Who knows? I lost that first week, and ever since, I've had nothing happen. So frustrating! And I'm so excited that my trip is getting closer, but that's less time for me to lose weight! I wanted to lose 50 pounds by my trip, now there's no way that will happen. :confused3

I've also been thinking about changing my flight for our arrival day. Right now, we are leaving on November 12 at 10:15am and arriving in Orlando at 1:20pm. I'm thinking of changing that flight so we will be leaving at 7:00am and arriving in Orlando at 10:05pm. When I booked this trip, I promised my DH we would take a later flight than normal so we could actually get some sleep before we go, and so our room will definitely be ready when we get there. I really don't want to be exhausted the first day, but then again, getting there around 1 seems way too late now! :rotfl:

I also think a later flight might be more crowded, which I'd like to avoid? :confused3 I really don't want anyone sitting in our aisle (I know that's terrible, but I like having room!) and the less people on the plane, the better! :rotfl: I know my DH really does not want to get there that early. He wants our room to be ready, and that's a big concern of mine too, but I feel like with a mod as big as POR, we have a good chance of having our room be ready pretty early if we do online check in.

So I don't know what to do about that, I'd really just like to get there early, get settled, maybe take a little nap, check out the resort, and then head to Epcot, but if our room isn't ready, that won't be happening! :upsidedow

I will keep you guys updated with what I do, I will probably decide today after I talk to DH about it! :rotfl: I'm also going to be dragging him to the Disney store today, which in an hour away, so if I buy anything for my trip, I will post pics!

111 days til Disney! :rotfl: :woohoo:

Sorry about the weight gain. Just keep doing what your doing and it will come off!:thumbsup2 We have always taken the earlier flight out of BDL and it has always been sold out. I think everyone wants to get to Disney asap! Last year, our room at POR was ready when we got there.:) What a great surprise that was! We were able to drop some of our stuff and head out right away. Made the early flight worth waking up for. Makes me feel like we get an "extra" day in WDW!:cool1:

One thing you may want to consider about your weight loss is that you may be gaining muscle instead of fat. Muscle weighs more than fat, but takes up less space, which is one of the many many reasons I hate the BMI thing doctors use to say a person is fat. :flower3:

A way I noticed how steadily I was losing weight in Orlando was looking at photos of myself. Over about four or five months, my face started to slim, which is actually the first place you can see weight loss. :confused3 I can show you the pics if you want :)

Also, one thing you guys could do in regards to your flight would just be going to bed early if you take the early flight. Plan to be at the airport around 6am and go to bed at, say, 8:30 or 9pm. It sounds early for people not used to it, but it's actually not that early when you really think about it. :yay:

Thanks! I'll probably have to try doing something else, like switching to skim milk instead of 1% (ew!) and putting splenda in my tea instead of sugar...little things like that add up!

I was thinking the earlier flights would be sold out, since everyone wants to get there so fast, but we always took the 7am flight out of Bradley and it's never been a problem so far! :confused3 And I'm guessing the later you get to the airport, the more of a hassle it will be to wait in line and everything...I don't know!

I hope our room will be ready at POR if I do switch flights! :confused3

I really doubt I'm gaining muscle! :( I wish that's all it was, but I don't think it is. I think I'm just not doing enough to actually lose weight. And I don't look any different yet, I can notice it in my face too, at first, and trust me, there's no change! :confused3

I'm not really worried about myself for the early flight, I'm worried about my DH! He works til 11, which means he will be working Thursday night, the night before we leave, and getting home at 11:30. I can do most of his packing for him, but there are some things he will need to do himself, which will take an hour...I don't know! And I make us leave super early for the airport, which he hates, but I don't like getting there late! So yeah, I can go to bed early, no problem, but I'm worried about him being tired and cranky the next day, and I don't feel like losing Epcot time because he wants to sleep!

I'll probably end up switching the flights anyway, unless he's really opposed to it! :rolleyes1

Well, you never know  I tend to be an optimist. There are a lot of reasons your body could be holding onto that half pound. With me, it's difficult because right now, my body's like "Holy crap, she's starving, HOLD ONTO THE WEIGHT!!!" It could just be water retention, too. :confused3 I wouldn't stress about it, though, since as you know, stress can cause weight gain

Is there any way he can switch shifts with someone for that night? Like, say, he works an earlier shift and someone covers him for the evening? If I hadn't had the 22nd (the day before I leave) approved, that's what I would have looked into, since the flight I wanted was at 8am and I don't even get off work until 7am :lmao:, but we can switch around fairly easily at my job. Obviously, other jobs are different, so it would depend on what's possible at his. I'd suggest that to him and see if he thinks it'd be possible.

I'd switch the flights, too, but that's just me :teeth: I want to spend my first day at MK :goodvibes Right now, my spreadsheet has me down for lunch at Pop, but I might change my mind when I get there :yay: My ticker says two months instead of three! Yay! :yay::yay::yay:

I say switch your flight. We usually take the super early one which is nice because we can visit a park right away! Our flight this time though, is kind of like the one you have booked now. We leave around 11 which means we won't be getting there until mid-late afternoon. :scared1:

Don't give up on the exercising! Even though it is frustrating now, once your body catches up with all the work you've been doing I think that the weight is really going to start coming off! And plus, you are making yourself healthier even if you're not losing weight yet. It will happen! We are all here to support you!

Personally, I would go with the earlier flight. I agree with you, I think it would be less crowded. And also, every hour at Disney is priceless in my opinion! Tell DH you can sleep when you get home! And I think since you are going at a relatively slow time of year that your room would probably be ready!

Ooooh I can't wait to see what you buy at the Disney Store!! :lovestruc

I'm having the same issues with the weight loss! I know it's frustrating, but you have to hang in there! You know in the long run you'll just feel guilty if you give up now! I KNOW you can do it!!!

I say take the earlier flight! Our flight was supposed to be leaving at 6:50am, but got changed to 7:55, and I'm angry even though it's still early! I'm definitely with you in the flying early boat!

LOL, I know, the thought of getting there in the afternoon is annoying! :rotfl: I like visiting a park right away, but DH likes to rest. Boring! :rotfl2:

I am frustrated with my non weight loss, but I'm hoping it will happen soon! Now that I think about the past week, I know there were things that I ate that I should not have-like almost an entire bag of Hershey's Bliss chocolates in one sitting! :scared1: I just have to stop, but I LOVE chocolate so much, I have to just let myself have one instead of 20! :confused3

I'm with you, I want as much Disney time as possible, but DH likes his sleep! :rotfl: Like I said up there, boring! You're right, he can sleep at home!

Ugh, it is so frustrating, trying to lose weight, but I'm not giving up, I just have to do better! :rolleyes1 I also know I'm pms'ing, so I'm sure some of it is water (I hope, anyway!) and maybe next week, that will be gone! And I have to stop eating Lean Cuisine's at work, because they are pure salt, which makes you retain water! It's so hard, there's so much to remember!

I can't stand when airlines just change your flight times, that happened with us on Jet Blue in May, but it was only a 20 minute difference so it wasn't too bad! That's why I like SW, they hardly ever change their times!

Just a quick update, I changed our flights to the earlier one on our arrival day! I talked to DH about it, and asked him if he minded going earlier, and he said no, as long as I don't make us go to the airport 4 hours early so he can get SOME sleep (I have a habit of making us leave for the airport super early!).

AND, the best part, it made our total $136 cheaper! :cool1: I don't know how, unless our return flights went down as well, but hey, I'm not complaining! I'm not sure how SW does credits, because I know they just won't refund the money to your credit card, you have to use the credit from the flights for a future flight...I'm just not sure how! :confused3 I'll have to ask the people on the Transportation boards!

And unfortunately, I didn't buy anything at the Disney Store! :sad1: There was a shirt I really wanted, but they didn't have it in my size, so I'll probably just get it from disneystore.com, or take another trip up there next week! :rotfl:

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! I'm MELTING, it is so hot here in CT today! I'm so ready for the fall!!! :woohoo:

That's awesome!! You're getting to Disney earlier, and you're saving money! It doesn't get any better than that! :woohoo:

Sorry you didnt get anything at the Disney Store! I have been dying to go the Disney Outlet near our house, but I haven't had a chance yet. If you're looking for anything specific when I go let me know, and if I see it I will pick it up for you and mail it your way! ;)

Ugh, I know, I am so over this heat! It was over 100 degrees today in NC. I can't stand it! Hurry up, Fall! (I say that for two reasons- it will be cooler, and we will be even closer to our trips! :goodvibes)

I know, I'm so happy we will be getting there almost 4 hours earlier! I'm hoping, like you said before, since I'll be there at a pretty slow time, our room at POR will be ready and we can nap for an hour or two! Well, mostly Brandon, not me, I'll be sitting there, counting down the minutes til I can wake him up! :rotfl:

And since we have this credit...it makes it a lot easier to convince him to go again next year! Although I'm REALLY thinking we might do Disneyland next year instead...not sure yet! Either way, having $136 extra will help!

LOL, I can't stand the summer, I'm ready for it to be over! And we still have August to get through! :scared1: I'm looking forward to the fall, last year it was such a bad time for me, I couldn't even enjoy it, I hope this year is better. And you're right, our trips will be right around the corner once Fall is here! :lovestruc

Congrats on changing flight and also getting it cheaper! I prefer taking the early morning flight myself, but DH likes a later morning flight.

I went to the Disney Store today. I saw two t-shirts; the one I really wanted they didn't have my size in so I went with my second choice (pic is posted on my PTR).

I'm catching up since I've been gone the past week because of my test but yay on the flights!! I really wish SW flew into Cincinnati or Dayton but the closest airport they go to is about 2 hours away and I can't justify that especially since the flight is already 2.5 hr and then getting back into a car for another 2 hours. Unless it was a super great deal, I just can't bring myself to doing it!

Sorry for the whole weight thing :( I'm in my college roommates wedding the end of Sept. I'm getting my bridesmaid dress this coming weekend. Depending on how it fits, I might not be eating when I come back from WDW the following weekend! I've been focused on work, sleep, and my test today that I have neglected my gym membership but this week I'm hoping to get back into it!

I don't know how I missed this and didn't respond! :confused3

LOL, I'm so not an optimist when it comes to my weight! If I ever am, I just end up disappointed! My body always seems to think I'm starving-it needs to get over it, because I could probably not eat for a month and be fine!

Unfortunately, my DH's job doesn't let you change shifts with people. It's stupid. I can't stand his job. This November will be 2 years for him working nights and the only way you get to work days is to get promoted which apparently doesn't happen unless you have been there for 5 years. So I have 3 more years left of him working at night, unless he gets REALLY lucky. :sad1: Thank god he gets to work days in the summer at least!

But yeah, I talked to him about him coming home from work and just going right to sleep and he said fine, so I guess he's ok with it! He let me switch without too much complaining!

Congrats on your ticker saying 2 months! :dance3: I LOVE when the ticker changes! I'm waiting for mine to say 2 months now, even though it just got to 3 months!

Congrats on changing flight and also getting it cheaper! I prefer taking the early morning flight myself, but DH likes a later morning flight.

Thanks, I love taking the earliest flight down too! If you're going on vacation, you might as well start it as soon as possible, you know?

I saw your t-shirt on your PTR, it's adorable! I'm going to have to order the one I saw online, it's so cute!

It's ok about the weight...my fault, really! I convince myself I'm doing good when really, I know I let myself cheat a lot this week, I just conveniently forgot when I got on the scale yesterday! :confused3

I've actually come up with a plan for this week, with eating and exercising...I'll post more info about it after I go to the mall...I have to buy a prop first! :rotfl: And yes, it's Disney related!

I don't know how I missed this and didn't respond! :confused3

That's utterly ridiculous that they don't let people change shifts. What if you need the night for a wake or something and you don't have it off, you know? :headache: I hate companies that don't allow shift swaps. What does he do, anyway?

Yay for switching the flights and saving so much money! :dance3: My flight hasn't gone up and I'm so worried that it's going to. There was a Ding fare for SW a couple days ago, round trip from Chicago to Orlando was $94 each way, but it wasn't for my dates. I'm hoping one pops up for my dates. That would be so awesome :cheer2:

:lmao: I know how you feel about the tickers :) I saw someone on a countdown thread today talking about how they were waiting for it to say "weeks" and I'm like "I know how you feel :lmao:"

I'm glad your DH agreed to the earlier flight! And yay for getting a discount, too! :woohoo: I hope your room will be ready when you get there! We got really lucky in January and our room was ready when we checked in at 10 am so it's definitely possible! :goodvibes

Like I said, DH's job is stupid. He's a custodian at an elementary school and unfortunately, you have to start at the bottom, which means night shift. And they are so by the book, with their rules, and promotions, and everything, it's so lame. However, the pay is great, as are the benefits, which is why he took the job in the first place. :confused3 But no, they don't let you switch shifts, they don't let you combine personal days with vacation days...it's ridiculous.

I hope you get a Ding! fare! I never see those for Hartford, I gave up even checking. :confused3 I hate how SW, and just plane tix in general fluctuate in price so much!

I LOVE when my ticker gets to weeks! :cool1: I have a long way to go, though!

I'm so happy we're going earlier! :cool1: I'm hoping our room is ready, since we are going at a slow time and since POR is so big, I think it probably will be! Did you do online check in when you went in January?

Really quick update while DH is in the shower!

I've come up with a plan to kick my weight loss into gear! I have a bunch of things I thought of that I need to be doing! I won't list all of them but basically I'm going to go on walks on my break at work when it's nice out, stop eating Lean Cuisine meals and start bringing whole wheat pasta to work instead, do a Pilates work out tape at least twice a week, and switch from sugar to Splenda! There's more, but like I said, I won't bore you guys, I just wanted to let you know I've been thinking about this all weekend and decided to form a plan! I'm going to write out everything and tape it to my mirror! :rotfl:

Also, I said earlier I had to buy a prop for my weight loss and it was Disney related...so I got this:

IMG_1295-1.jpg

:lovestruc

Isn't it great! They have all these adorable plaques at Hallmark with these inspirational Disney quotes on them, I seriously want every single one! But I thought this was the most appropriate to help me along with my weight loss journey! Whenever I'm not motivated, I'll look at that and hopefully it will help!

One other thing I got a few days ago, which my DH bought for me:

IMG_1294.jpg

Music from the parks! :cool1: I have some random stuff on my Ipod, but after reading Ali's PTR a few weeks ago and finding out you could get the music to Soarin, I knew I needed the official CD's! If you are ever in the mood to be instantly transported to WDW, get these CD's immediately! They are amazing!!!! I keep listening and I really need to stop because it's making me so anxious for November, and I don't know how I'm going to get through the next few months! :rotfl:

That's all for now, hope everyone has a great night!!! :lovestruc

I think it's great that you have made a plan for yourself! And it sounds like you're being very sensible about it, rather than doing something like a crash diet! I think you are going to do great!

I love your sign! :lovestruc That is such a great idea to motivate you! I need to go to our Hallmark store and see if they sell them...:rolleyes1

I have to have those CDs! I have some Disney CDs that I got at the Virgin Megastore in DTD when it was open, but they have mostly music from the movies, not the parks. I am definitely going to get those! :goodvibes
