In the past week, I have read:

"Short Life of Bree Tanner" Meyer

"Skylight Confession" Hoffman

"Hunger Games" and "Catching Fire" Collins - I CAN NOT wait for the third at the end of Aug!!!! Can't put them down once you start.

before these I tried to read "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo"...couldn't get into it and had all these lighter summer reads to get to....will get back to "Girl" at a later time!

:):wizard:

Still reading "A Clash of Kings" by George R.R. Martin and "The Terror" by Dan Simmons. Recently began "Empire of Blue Water"....but I'm not really sure who wrote that. Anyways, it's about Captain Morgan and real Pirates of the Caribbean.

I don't remember when I posted last but I have recently read the following.

The Hunger Games and Catching Fire. I loved both of these and like other posters can not wait until the 3rd installment.

I have also read the entire Ranger Apprentice series. I enjoyed them all and am looking forward to the next book.

I loved the Guernsey Potato Peel Pie and Literary Society. I usually do not like books written within letters but I couldn't put this one down and wished it did not end.

I just finished Garden Spells. What a fun book. Great for the beach.

Now I am off to find myself something else to read.

I've hopped on the Millenium Trilogy bandwagon. Over halfway done with "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" and I. AM. HOOKED.

I just finished "Cockatiels at Seven" by Donna Andrews. I've gotta say, it wasn't one of her better efforts.at least to me. Next up, "Last Kiss" by Luanne Rice.

I just read The Hunger Games and Catching Fire and loved them! I can't wait to see what happens in the third and I really hope Cinna is ok.

Don't give up on the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy- they're amazing books just slow in some spots.

I just finished The Heart Mender" A Story of Second Chances by Andy Andrews.

I really liked the story and it was an easy read.

From the Amazon description:
While digging up a withering wax myrtle tree beside his waterfront home on the Gulf coast, author Andy Andrews unearths a rusted metal container filled with Nazi artifacts and begins an intriguing investigation that unlocks an unspoken past that took place in his backyard . . . literally.

In 1942, as the country gears up for a full-scale commitment to WWII, German subs are dispatched to the Gulf of Mexico to sink U.S. vessels carrying goods and fuel. While taking a late-night walk, Helen Mason-widowed by war-discovers the near-lifeless body of a German sailor. Enraged at the site of Josef Landermann's uniform, Helen is prepared to leave him to die when an unusual phrase, faintly uttered, changes her mind.

Set in a period simmering with anger and suspicion The Heart Menderoffers the very real chronicle of a small town preparing itself for the worst the world has to offer. As cargo from torpedoed ships begins to wash up on the beach, Josef and Helen must reconcile their pasts to create a future.

ooohhhh, I hadn't considered that about Cinna. I had just assumed he was dead. I hope you are right about that, it would be nice to have him back for the next book!!!!!:)

I absolutely want that apple tree! LOL! Have you read Sugar Queen or The Girl Who Chased the Moom? Both good books by the same author. Of Bees and Mist was an Amazon "if you like Sarah Addison Allen, you'll like this" recommendation. It was interesting, but definitely weird.

I've had what I would consider a "busy" summer (so far as reading goes)...

The first three books in the Sookie Stackhouse series (Dead After Dark, Living Dead in Dallas, & Club Dead)
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
Confessions of a Failed Southern Lady
Life is Short and Wide
Hunger Games
Catching Fire
The Art of War
The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner
Still Alice

My list is short by two, but I can't remember which two at the moment. One was about quilting, like, The Quilter's Apprentice, I think.

I'm currently reading The Sleeping Beauty by Mercedes Lackey and Women, Food, and God. I have Saving Cee Cee Honeycutt and several other books on my list. (And, of course, am always taking recommendations.

I just started The Passage by Justin Cronin after reading a recommendation by Stephen King in the latest Entertainment Weekly. Love love love it so far...though it's scaring the bejessus out of me!

I just finished it. What a fabulous book! But yep, I had some scary middle of the night moments while reading that one!

The Swan Thieves was excellent by Elizabeth Kostova. Also CHarles Martin "When Crickets Cry". Good to. I'm rereading the 8th James Patterson so I can remember when I read 9. Still waiting for Janet E's 16th book. I'm on the list for that one at the library. I have a Kindle but it's hard for me to justify $9.99 for a one night read.

I've read "At the King's Command" by Susan Wiggs. Very good story of a Romanov princess who escapes her kingdom when her family is slain by Boyars. She gets to England and wants to meet with Henry VIII. When she appears before him, he's mad at one of his Barons and forces them to wed. I really liked this book.

Then I read "Eye of the Red Tsar" by Sam Eastland. It was a fictional account of the Romanov families' murders, both during 1918 and years later. Really a good book. I can't wait for "The Red Coffin" to be released. That will be the second in the Pekkala series.

Now I'm reading "Of Mice and Men" because I vowed to read all of the books my DS needs to read for school because if I don't discuss them with him, he will lie about reading them. As a matter of fact, I asked him what the main characters' names are and he couldn't tell me even though he swore he read it. Turns out, he skimmed it enough to know it was about farmers. UGH!

I'm reading Agatha Christie's autobiography and really enjoying it. :) It is very interesting to read about her childhood in Victorian England.

I'm still reading Change of Heart by Jodi Picoult. I like it...don't love it. It's taking me a while because I can only take it in small doses. My friend gave me a bag full of books that I'm anxious to move on to, so I have to finish this one up!

A Reliable Wife by Robert Goolrick... I've been reading it for months... it is a good book, don't get me wrong, but I just want to get to the point. I am halfway through and getting bored.

Lately I've read "The Big Over Easy" and "The Fourth Bear" by Jasper Fforde. These were so fun to read. If anyone's ever read his Thursday Next series, you will enjoy these!

I also read "A Year by the Sea" and found it very self-absorbed. I guess that's ok, as that's what the author intended, but I found it very difficult to read, as I couldn't really sympathize with her.

Today I'm finishing up "Princess Ben" that my daughter recommended to me. Once I'm done with that, I'll start "Shiver" and then it's on to "Sleeping Murder" to be discussed at book group next month.

I've got to make a run to the library tomorrow to stock up on books to read while spending a week at the lake. I need some fluff to just absorb and enjoy.

I finished Crossroads of Twilight, Book 10 of the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. It was good but not as good as others in the series. Was a little on the wordy side with less action.

I'm reading Book 11 now, Knife of Dreams and it's better.
