YAYYYY leaving for CBR tomorrow morning!!!!!:cool1:

Thank u guys sooo much for all the great tips and info!!!!!

We just booked our CBR ressie for December 20-25. After reading all the reviews I'm torn when it comes to the bus issue. We will have our car, but we usually leave it parked and take the buses. Should we plan to use our car?

I was able to book CBR on travelocity for $75/night for our trip in August, what a great rate! Linda :)

With a ressie thru Travelocity ...can you still use the Mears complimentary bus shuttle from the Orlando Airport to CBR ?
Just wondering or do you need a ressie thru WDW itself for free transportation ? Thanks

We drive to Disney so we have a car at our disposal. We stayed at the CBR May 27th through June 5th, 2010. We drove our car just once the entire time. The only reason we drove it then was the fact that we had to get to Hollywood Studios super early to stand in line for the Star Wars Weekends celebrities Fastpasses.

We have never had an issue with the buses during any of our 5 stays at the CBR.

In all honesty, I would much rather have Disney do the driving for me. I hate parking in the theme park parking lots, having to walk to the end of the parking lot, wait on a tram, jump on a tram and then walk to the entrance of the park. If you're going to the Magic Kingdom, there's even another step since you'll have to take either the ferry boat or the monorail to the park.

Even though we had bus issues this trip, we didn't drive our car except for once, either. I'm with Lisa - I don't want to wait for trams, deal with a hot car, or even worry about remembering where to park! I also like being driven around and not having to worry about finding my way, no matter how clear the signs are. I think that the bus service would have to be pretty darn bad for me to mess with our car on-site on a regular basis. And this trip, though we had bus issues the first several days, the end of our stay was bus-issue free! It's good to know that they watch, listen, and fix things when they find out about problems!

I know quite a few people that have slept in the Pirate rooms and didn't have any problems. It is a 7-10 min walk to the main pool.

I think your kids would enjoy CBR better than POFQ.

7-10min walk after a long day in the parks....or on a cool evening (yes, it can happen) after swimming doesn't sound particularly fun. We stay quite often at ASMo but I book preferred and our walk has never been more than a few minutes. Would really love the pirate rooms but I'm really concerned about the distance.

If you are coming back from the parks by bus then it would only be a few minutes to your room. Chances are you aren't going to get off the bus at the food court and then walk back to your room. There is also a quiet pool in Trinidad South so no need to walk to main pool.

I forgot about the quiet pools. That certainly is an option, and yes, I realize we'd have a closer bus stop. I had talked myself into booking preferred and skipping the pirate themed rooms, but they are sooooo cool. Thing is we usually swim mid-day and late at night. I'm not sure we'd want to do all that walking to the theme pool, food court (refillable mugs) etc. Will have to mull htis over more. Personally, I think it was brilliant of Disney to do this. By making the furthest room the coolest, it really makes them more attractive!

I'd like to know if there is any diet caffine free soda offered for the refillable mugs. For example Sprite Zero or caffine free diet coke. Also if anyone knows the current offerings on the soda for the refillable mugs at CBR that would be great!

Thanks

I think buses can be hit or miss. We rented a car and only used the buses for MK. One day we had to wait close to 30 minutes for the MK bus, even though literally 2 of every other bus went by in that time period.

My DH hates waiting for the buses and so getting a car is worth it to him. He wants to be able to come and go when we want to. Plus, we had several ADRs at other resorts so the car made it much more convenient.

I haven't stayed at CBR since the mid 90s when it was the value resort. Since they just offered free dining that covered our dates I called today and switched. We will be there 12/13-12/22. Excited about the switch and hoping we love the resort.

Congrats on booking the CBR! I never knew that it used to be a value resort.:confused3 This is the thread to come to if you have questions about the CBR.:thumbsup2

I totally agree!!! :thumbsup2

I just switched my res from POFQ to CBR! I'm so excited...thanks to this & the other CBR threads! :) The only other mod we've stayed at is POR & we love it there! We booked FQ for something different, but not TOO different! LOL But after reading this thread & seeing all the pics, and getting over my fear of the sheer size of the place, I took the plunge. I requested bldg 21 in Martinique since all the preferred bldgs are sold out for the free dining.

We'll be there 9/19-26/10! Anyone else?

I'll be there during that time! So excited to stay at CBR!

My DW and I just booked CBR for the first week in December with the free dinning. This will be our first time at CBR. We've been to Disney a dozen times so we are regulars. We're in love with the french quarter but decided to do something different this time. We're not fussy at all and tend to roll with the punches.. We rairly require any additional customer service than what is provided but when something comes up and the service falls short, then it tends to ruin the moment but we are just in love with the Disney experience. My DW is such a sweetheart, there for a while, it seemed that she had had her fill of Disney, but she has come around and is fully into it now and just enjoys the whole experience as much as I do. We are more now into the resort experience than the parks since after all we've been there and done that..... We have other vacations throughout the year but must get to Disney twice a year... We love Disney people they are special, real people and we are proud to be part of the whole thing.....
We've taken the kids and grandkids to Disney twice so far and are looking forward to doing it again but for now its just Nana and Pop Pop going to Disney and enjoying every minute of it..!!!!!!

Yes, before Disney opened the All-Star resorts CBR was one of the value resorts. The first All-Star resort opened around 94 and prior to that CBR was one of the value resorts.
