The MCLOVINS Hit the World - HARD!!!!! *COMPLETED*

I can't remember what the Pirate Tutorial schedule is like but i'm sure someone on here can tell you! And yes, I do believe that guy did an entire article or at least a big interview.

YES YOU FEEL IT IN YOUR BUTT. Not at first and not at the bottom but RIGHT in the middle of the drop my mom and I get tingly butts. Maybe it's just us weirdos. Wouldn't be the first time. :rotfl:

Hm...maybe I should just ask about the tutorial when I get there. I'd love to catch it, but it's not a must-see. Unless I DO buy into the Pirates league....in which case it will BECOME a must-see.

Hm.....I'll report the tingle if I feel it too. I usually get the tingle when I step into a hotel room. Cause it means I'm traveling!!

Regarding Swiss Family Robinson...

Unfortunately, it's one of those things that doesn't have any supporting Disney media anymore...so it should go. The idea of it is very cool, and it is (of course) executed with Disney's perfection, but when we walked through it in 2007, it really did nothing for me.

Then again, that could have something to do with the fact that I was carrying a 20lb sleeping child up and down the entire thing.

I just remembered - It's on the Times Guide! :thumbsup2

PLEASE be sure to report the tingle if you're so inclined :cool2:

Yep, I totally agree. Super cool idea but completely irrelevant to little kids. I'll be surprised if it's still there in ten years.

Day 2, Part 4 In Which We Become Space Mice, Because There Are No Cats In Space

I LOVE YOU MGM!

4708837481_5b4d6dd9c1_b.jpg

Uh, Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Whatever.

We always spend a ton of time here. I absolutely love the tone of this place. The perfect old Hollywood that never was.

AND THE AREA MUSIC. Best area music in Disney World if you ask me. I love MK area music, but it's extremely themey. Haunted Mansion - spooky area music. POTC - "Yo Ho, Yo Ho!!" area music. It's very classic Disney, Fantasylandy, dancing around in a princess dress kind of tunes. Gotta be in the mood. I LOVE Animal Kingdom's African beats, but again, you gotta be in the African music mood. Epcot's music is futuristic and cool. Space Mountain's music sounds a lot like Epcot music. I listen to the "Space Mountain Tunnel" one all the time. But at MGM... the music is not even Disney theme music for the most part. It's just music that happens to fit the park. And it's so... seductive. Fun. Beautiful. Even haunting, at times. As I'm typing this I have the hour long Tower of Terror area loop playing which is a mix of a bunch of 20's, 30's, and 40's music, some just instrumental, some not. And it's INCREDIBLE. And of course the Sunset Blvd Music, and Slow Boat To China! Can you tell music is my life?

My point is: I LOVE MGM / DISNEY'S HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS / DHS / WHATEVER and it has the BEST area music.

Moving on.

We wander around a bit while heading to our lunch reservation at one of my FAVORITE PLACES EVER... The Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre. If you haven't eaten here before, take the time to realize your fatal mistake. Let the regret sink in. Now let's take care of this mess - GO BOOK AN ADR FOR YOUR NEXT TRIP! Just trust me, I know this ish, ok?

Mom was SO excited when I finally told her where we were going, she adores this place too. And apparently, so does Tina Fey, because she brought her daughter there like a week after we were there!

I can't describe how much I love this place. Disney is just so amazing at immersing you in a certain experience, and if you've never been to Sci Fi, for the love of God, GO.

We checked in and waited about five minutes before being taken to our car.

:drive:

I love saying that. Car, not table. Oh, Disney.

The waitress said, "You are now entering the 50's. Welcome."

I am very good at suspending my disbelief. I have a fully functioning imagination like that of a four year old.

Therefore, we were in the 50's. At the drive-in.

Have I mentioned we love this place? Everything about it. The movie loop KILLS US. I mean, we whoop it up in there big time. If you want to see everything from space mice to Walt Disney to gila monsters, please visit Sci-Fi immediately.

Another reason that you MUST visit Sci-Fi is the milkshakes. Holy mother of the Mouse are they THE BEST! The shakes here are comparable NOWHERE else in the world. To the point where I don't even drink milkshakes outside of Disney World anymore. It's like if you meet your true love and then get separated from them... you can date other people, but it's not going to be as good. Sure, you may buy a condo at the beach with them but the true, unconditional, I would die just so you wouldn't have to feel a second of pain kind of love isn't there. So, I just can't drink milkshakes outside of Sci Fi anymore. Is the point.

THE ONLY PLACE they are comparable is at Beaches & Cream (Beach Club Resort), another beyond fantastic place. I personally prefer Sci-Fi though.

We ordered milkshakes and cokes and started singing We Go Together from Grease. Obviously.

I tweeted:
I'm tweeting from the 1950's. I'm at the Sci-fi drive-in! I hope Danny Zuko stops by and tries to put his hand on my ****. 4:28 PM Apr 12th via txt

You're the one that I want!!!! WOOO HOOO HOOOOOO, Honey!

It was useless looking at the menu because we already knew what we were ordering. I mean, duh. We always get the same thing here, two appetizers, and we split them. 1. Onion Rings 2. Spinach and Artichoke Dip.

The onion rings here are the reason why I almost never eat onion rings outside of Disney World. See a trend here? Again, the onion rings at B&C are comparable. I don't know why. But they are beyond anything. Also, I'm weird and I just pull the battered part off. I can't actually eat an onion. Why would I? Really.

I'm a weird eater. I don't ever eat spinach. I don't ever eat artichokes. But I love dip. So one day my mom ordered Spinach & Artichoke dip here at Sci Fi and I tasted it. HOLY HECK DID I LOVE IT! Again, I don't eat this dish anywhere else. After I had it at Sci Fi, I ordered it at several other places back home and they make it at Sci Fi like nowhere else. It's not just me in a Disney daze, it really is the best here. I urge you to order this!! Even if you don't like spinach. Even if you don't like artichokes! I don't, I'm telling you!

Sorry I'm so bizarre. I believe I warned y'all about this but I can't be sure.

At this point I was bulldozing through the food like someone just said they were sewing my mouth shut for a month in two minutes, so I forgot to take pictures. However, many people eat exactly like us so I found some!

Thank you to whoever is not a human garbage disposal, therefore had time to take these!

When this actually arrived, I spoke to it as if it were a human being.

Lia: I missed you.
Mom: What?
Lia: Sorry, I was talking to my food again.

Yes, again. Don't ask.

Like I said, we really enjoy watching the crazy loop of nonsense they show here. I especially love the shorts they show. I wish there were more places in WDW you could watch shorts while eating. I know you can at Casey's Corner, but they're all sports themed. I really miss being able to have a break in the Main Street Exposition Hall and watch the shorts in there. I'm sooo bummed that's gone now! All those scenes you could pose in, and the Walt Disney timeline was so cool. I think it was really a special hidden WDW gem and I'm so disappointed they're changing it.

It's super hard to get a good picture of the inside, but I tried:

We ate every smidgen off the plate, and then our waitress brought us more chips. God bless her!

Around this time, the gila monster clip, which is one of my favorites (obviously) came up for the second time. I decided at that point I would have to call my mother a gila monster for the remainder of our trip. That's just the kind of relationship we have. I mean it as a term of endearment. It's not just us, either. Our entire family. Other terms of endearment include but are not limited to: "Ratso", "Ratfink", "Stinkweed", "Gorf", and many other things that are often just thrown together on the spot.

We love each other. I think.

Many chips later, we rolled out of there to head over to my favorite ride in all of WDW.

Up next: The next time you check into a deserted hotel on the dark side of Hollywood, make sure you know what kind of vacancy you're filling.

I LOVED this update. I love everything about MGM and Sci-Fi is always a must-do for us. Yum! I need to try their appetizers next time. The dip and onion rings look soooo good! Of course that means I'll probably have to forgo dessert, because I'll be too full afterward lol. Yesss, I completely agree with you! Sci Fi's milkshakes are the best I've ever had. And they're cheaper than the (watery) ones here in NYC, so I don't even bother getting them here anymore unless I'm really craving one & then it has to be from a place that I know makes them well. I do want to try the milkshakes at Beaches & Cream & 50s PT. The PB&J one sounds crazy!

Can't wait to hear about ToT! It's my most favorite ride ever, too. Aww thinking about their music makes me want to ride so badly! Only 4 more months until I get to go again, I hope I can hold out til then.

Excellent update! We have eaten at the Sci-Fi a few times and we always enjoy it too. My parents especially get a kick out of the video loop. I love how you eat in cars instead of at tables.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, I love onion rings and spinach and artichoke dip. Most places don't make them together. They just have plain spinach dip.

That dip just looks like cheesy heaven. I'm going to try Sci-Fi next time with my little sister. She also talks to things. Food is one of them. She talks to her clothes....and talks to the computer when playing Solitaire.

You know, I've never noticed the music. But I'm only gone once and was too busy with "OMFG, I'm in DISNEY WORLD!!!!!! HOMG, everything is so AWESOME here!!!!!"

I'll try to listen to the area music when I go in August

Hey disneygirlfriend! Happy 4th of July!

Okay, glad I'm not the only one who still will always call this park MGM. It just feels weird saying Hollywood Studios. I guess I'm just not too fond of change when it comes to things I love at WDW. haha.

Okay, loved the Danny Zuko reference. Such a classic movie. Whenever I see John Travolta in any other movies, shows, etc. all I can see him as is Danny Zuko.

OMG that chips and dip looks so wonderful! Thanks for sharing

Oh, and I think I know what's next. I'm hearing the music in my head and I'm hyperventilating already!

Oh man, I am drooling at the sight of those onion rings! I loooooove onion rings and I *really* want to go back to Sci-Fi once. We went once, years and years ago, but most of the fam. was unimpressed (I know, ludicrous!) but I may need to just go myself one of these days. I think DBF would love the theming though, so I'm booking an ADR on our next trip (whenver that is...sigh).

And I do remember one thing quite well...those milkshakes are DIVINE!

Hi everyone! I hope you guys had a great 4th. I was down the shore with my family - what could be better than that? It was a beautiful weekend. I was also really happy cause I totally stuck with my diet even though there was "bad" food EVERYWHERE! Usually on holidays I just kind of go with the flow and eat that stuff, but this time I was like, I need to be healthy and thin so that when I go to Disney World next time I can be on the Deluxe Dining Plan and gain 20 pounds in 5 minutes and have it not be a problem. LOL! That's my... bizarre logic. Anyway, it worked.

Thanks for reading everyone. New update coming soon. Replies~

So you're saying I should have gone to Sci-Fi diner? ;) Next time, I promise!

Please do not miss it!!!!! You'll thank me later! ;)

Yay! SO glad you enjoyed! We never get dessert at Sci-Fi because the milkshakes are just so good and FILLING that they are dessert enough. Regarding the crappy NYC milkshakes: I. FREAKING. KNOW. uggggggh. It's so sad. You can get a good one at Serendipity's, but that's the only place that I can recall. I want to try the PB&J one as well, yuuuuuum!

4 months for me too!! If it works out. I never know if it will cause my schedule is so annoyingly random. I had to cancel our Food & Wine trip last October. :( But hopefully!

Excellent update! We have eaten at the Sci-Fi a few times and we always enjoy it too. My parents especially get a kick out of the video loop. I love how you eat in cars instead of at tables.

Thanks girl, glad you enjoyed! Sci-Fi is the best :happytv:!

You can get Spinach & Artichoke dip at a lot of the chain places like Applebees, Longhorn, California Pizza Kitchen, etc, but it's just nothing compared to Sci-Fi. Not even worth it! So yes don't miss Sci-Fi!!

I love that your sister talks to things too! I talk to my clothes a lot also LOL.

Once you notice the music the first time you will never not notice the music again. The way they use it to help immerse you in the different lands/worlds is genius.

TINKGURLFRIEND! Happy 4th as well, did you see that they BLEEPED OUT my Danny Zuko reference? How is b~o~o~b a curse word? For real. But I'm glad you appreciated it anyway. :cool2:

YAY!!! It will be one heck of an update. I'm rather obsessed. :scared1:

BTW ~ I always *mean* to reply to every single person who posts on here, so if I ever miss you it's because i'm scatterbrained, not annoyed by you. So feel free to give me a nudge or something if that happens. Ok, last reply!

You must go back!! Honestly I hear a lot on these boards that people do not like the food at Sci-Fi and I can not speak for anything besides the what I mentioned in this report because it is SO GOOD that we have gotten it EVERY time. The rest of the food on the menu could be swill and I would have no idea. The thing is, I highly doubt that, but who knows. The point is, there isn't a soul on this planet that I would discourage from visiting Sci-Fi. I just love it too much. So yes, try it again!

I just read your whole trip report in one seating. I absolutely love it. You are a great writer and I am enjoying all the details you put in each update. Nice work!

Thank you SO much! This is so weird b/c I had just bookmarked your TR meaning to get started on it soon - seriously!

For us Canadians, we just celebrated our Canada Day this past weekend. Pretty cool it kind of collided like that. We got a long weekend.

We don't have those restaurants you mentioned up north :sad2: I wanna go to an Applebees!

Hm...park music would be great to add to my collection of Disney cds to play in my car. On nice days, I roll the windows down and blast my Disney classics CD. I get the FUNNIEST looks from cars and people around me at a red light :lmao:

I'm glad you didn't die from the ridiculous heat the east coast is getting right now while at the shore. One of my best friends is actually in New Jersey now with her boyfriend's family. I don't really know why you would care about that, but I thought I'd say it anyway.

But she said it's hot. I don't know how people are surviving the 100s. I mean, it's mid-90s right now in Ohio and I am miserable.

Anyway, onto your update...

You are so right about the MGM area music. It is fabulous. I'm quite fond of Big Band music, so it's definitely fun to just sit and listen. Although, anytime I hear Sing, Sing, Sing I want to get up and dance. LOVE that song.

I am a total milkshake addict, and spinach and artichoke dip is DELISH. But I've never been to Sci-Fi before. It looks sooo cool, but my family isn't all that into it. Because they are LAME-Os. But I really wanna go sometime!! And I would totally burst into Grease songs while eating there. I think that's kind of a given. :cutie:

"When we go out at night (Oh-h oh)
and stars are shining bright (Oh-h oh)
up in the skies abooooooooove...."

Lurker here... not sure if I have outed myself before or not...Loving the report.

One thing though! I never realized there was music playing inthe different areas of the parks! When we head over this weekend, I'm going to have to pay attention! Lordy! That shows how much I pay attention to my surrondings. That is scary that I never noticed it before.

It's really hot over here in Southern Ontario too. I'm always complaining that the city I go to school in is too windy ALL THE TIME. But it's actually not so bad right now. It's very HOT, but we get a gusts of wind.

I REALLY like milkshakes too. Unfortunately....I have a bit of a lactose intolerance. Not enough to prevent me from not intaking dairy, but enough for my tummy to be bubbly all day after one milkshake....:guilty: Never stops me though ;)

Well, Happy Canada Day!!!

Honestly, you aren't missing much with Applebees. It's not great, just standard fare ;)

When I get a chance I will PM you some links to d/l park audio!

I'm totally weird and extreme temperatures don't really bother me so i've been OK! Don't ask me why. It's the hottest today though. Gross, really. I hope your friend had a good time here!!

I love Big Band too! Anything from back then, I just adore.

Ditch your family and hide in Sci-Fi!!! Is my personal advice. In case you wanted it!

I got invited to a special screening of the new GREASE SINGALONG tonight but i'm busy. I'm really sad b/c I want to dance and sing in the aisles. I wasn't born when Grease came out originally, which offends me, so thank God for the singalong!

Hi there!! WELCOME!!!!!!!!! and thanks for reading!!!

Once you notice the music you will never not notice it. It's truly brilliant and adds so much to the magic! :wizard:
